Popped in to Pittsburgh for a couple days and forgot how hearty the meals were. J&J gave me a big reminder as I chowed down on this huge breakfast burrito. J&J is tucked Mount Washington and is a short walk from the lookout point. Great family friendly spot with a large menu. I stuck to the basics and left super satisfied. The staff was extremely friendly. It was pretty busy and the waitress still too the time for chit chat. Another patron struck up a conversation and we spoke for a while as he waited for a table. As I mentioned above, it's a very friendly environment all around.

Came to this cute family owned restaurant on a Saturday afternoon. This place is your typical no-frills standard menu diner although I'll give it to them that at least they have a variety of flavors available for milkshakes.I ordered one of their weekend specials, pancakes and chicken tenders. it came with two chicken tenders that were pretty dry and unflavored. Definitely was store-bought from a freezer. The pancakes were fine, typical, as expected. I also ordered a strawberry and vanilla milkshake. The lovely waitress gave me a cup for the extra milkshake that didn't fit in the serving cup, it was basically having two servings of it. The milkshake was pretty good. My friend ordered a peanut butter and banana milkshake which was also delicious.I stopped by here to just try something different. This place definitely seems like a local spot which is awesome. Next time, I would probably just stick to a basic eggs and bacon breakfast and just hold off on trying any specialty entrées.

Kinda surprise that this type of diner disappoint me, usually provide solid quality with reasonable price. Love the atmosphere of older decor and the size of the menu. Beside pancake, everything is bland. Never had omelet and home fries taste like this before. Just a disappointment. I don't know how to describe it, basically I can't taste anything from home fries beside the burnt oil. Can't taste any cheese in my omelet. Love their pancake tho, it is fluffy and soft.

Great breakfast place! Love the atmosphere! The service was incredible, helpful and gracious. There was no wait on a Sunday morning. We do not understand why the place is not packed! The scrambowl was perfect. Some of the best grilled potatoes and ham I have ever eaten. The eggs and bacon were beyond tasty! The brunchadilla was impressive and delicious. Perfectly done. If I lived here, I would eat here once a week.

Tried this place out for the first time, even though I've been passed this place a thousand times. It was so great! First of all, the diner has such a cute vibe and the woman working was so sweet, greeting me as soon as I walked in. She told me sit wherever I wanted and got me my drink. Then my server came over and took my order. Breakfast was so good. I loved the food, the service and the whole atmosphere place. Only thing I'm disappointed in was that I didn't try it out before today.

If you want down home, neighborhood cooking-you have found the place! I LOVE JJ's and everyone we take there loves it too! Their food is REAL! Real good! We've had waffles, omelets, corned beef hash, burgers, meatloaf, turkey. Everything has been terrific. The people that work here are genuine and very friendly. It is often busy when we get there or when we leave-there is always a buzz. Great for kids, families, grandparents, out-of-towners, locals-it is a place for everyone! You must get here if you haven't already!

I'm new to the neighborhood and everyone was so friendly and the food was delicious!! We went for breakfast and tried the bacon and cheese omelet and the avacado toast. It was the best avacado toast I have ever had and it came with a side of yummy tomato salad. Everything was super fresh as well. Both were so good and were out quickly. I can't wait to go back to try more menu items!!!

I am deeply grateful that it was still open on Thanksgiving when most of the restaurants were closed, which saved me from a hungry holiday. My favorite food are Monte Cristo and scrambowl with creamy gravy. The food were still warm after being delivered on a freezing day.I will never forget they made me the great Thanksgiving!
