I stopped by for takeout and so glad I ran into this newer gem in the south hills area. I ordered for pickup through here & got to sit inside a bit as I came way early (didn't time it right). It is the cutest relaxing setting inside, really comfortable feel with a fireplace on the tv - love that touch! The staff were very kind, efficient, friendly and welcoming to all. It seemed to be already popular with frequent pickups and a cafe like sitting with just the right amount of people.I ordered Tom Yum soup (my favorite, the shrimp was meaty & spiciness of broth was perfect - will be back) and salmon poke bowl. They both made my day & highly recommend. It does seem to be all street parking but I had no issue finding a spot on a Saturday night - also nice outdoor seating for non-rainy days!

Very good new Thai place. Sad to hear that the old spot closed down. But, this is a stellar place. They have so many options. Everything from sushi, to classic Thai, to poke bowls, curries, and more. It's awesome, and it seems they do it all well. I decided to try their pad see ew with tofu and their Thai donuts.The pad see ew was very good. They had an adequate amount of flavorful sauce, with a hint of what seems like ginger in it. The vegetables were fresh. Noodles were cooked well. Portion was pretty good, but not huge. Good amount of tofu, but not much egg. I'd still recommend it!Now, the Thai donuts were insanely good. The portion is absolutely huge and you could definitely share these. The donuts are perfectly fried and come in 2 shapes. Crispy outside, soft inside. The condensed milk goes perfectly with them, nice and sweet. They also had a few strawberries and chocolate sauce on the side.All in all, this is a great spot. The pad see ew was very good and the Thai donuts were exceptional. I would say you need to try those donuts if you come here!

Really impressive. This is a relatively small space, but it's nicely done and they seem to really care about putting out a high quality experience. We ordered takeout, with a blend of both Thai dishes and Japanese/Hawaiian dishes. At first, that seemed like an odd pairing, but it seems to line up with the background and experiences of the owners. In terms of the actual food, everything was extremely well packaged. The poke bowl was particularly inspired with some amount of care put into its overall composition and presentation. The Thai basil stir fry was good. The Penang curry was excellent, but could have used a few more vegetables (mostly my own personal preference). The papaya salad and ginger salad were good, but could have been just a little more flavor forward.All told, this was a nice place tucked into a quiet pocket of the South Hills with good food and owners who really want to turn out a high quality product. Well worth checking out.

Delayed review on Yelp. Itamae Thai & Sushi is a fabulous new addition to the South Hills area! The food- particularly the sushi was so fresh and is now my new go-to for sushi cravings. Vick, the sushi chef was very personable and accommodating to specific allergies and diet restrictions. After 3 months, I am still raving about the food and experience. Go and try this Sushi for yourself!

I have found my new favorite spot to order green curry! We ordered dinner from Itamae this weekend and were so thrilled with both my curry and my partner's pad thai. While not the most affordable takeout meal, the quality of food was absolutely worth it. I probably could have made my portion of curry last two meals, but I ended up eating the whole thing since it tasted so good! Can't wait for our next Thai takeout night to order from here again.

We went here last month and it was sooo cozy on a cold winter day and service was amazing. The crab rangoons have curry in them so I was a little apprehensive but they were amazing! We did the appetizer platter and the dumplings were great. All of our sushi was SO fresh! I want to go back and get some noodles because the other table's looked amazing but I KNOW I'll be back for the sushi!

This is by far the best sushi in Pittsburgh. That is not hyperbole. The chef has studied for 15 years in Naples, FL and moved his family to PGH to have his own place. He is the sushi chef and his wife is the Thai chef. Please check out the menu and their website and visit! They have only been open a week at the time of this post and are already getting a loyal following. Lunch menu is also an option. Hitchhiker Brewing is across the street and this place is BYOB. Hitchhiker also allows Itamae food at their establishment. The place feels like something you'd find in San Francisco or Seattle. Great ambiance!

We were so disappointed when the previous Asian restaurant in the location closed, but Itamae has been a wonderful replacement. We have enjoyed the pad Thai, blue crab fried rice, yakisoba and pad see ew, among other dishes, and all were excellent. The interior of the restaurant is spotless and often full. We are takeout customers, but would happily eat in as well. Have a beer at Hitchhiker brewing across the street while you wait for your order to be completed.
