Italian Oven Il Primo

My mom used to be a big time Italian Oven fan when she lived in Somerset 30 years ago. We took a mother daughter trip back home recently and just knew Italian Oven was on the list. We started with garlic knots, which were fantastic! Super soft and perfectly garlicky. Then mom and I had the Stromboli. The sauce is flavorful, the crust is perfect, and just the right amount of cheese. Our server was super nice and very quick. Never had to ask for anything as she was right there with extra napkins, refills, etc. The decor is cute and exactly what you'd expect in a popular Italian eatery. It definitely makes you feel like you're part of the family when you eat there. Mom has had many a story to tell about Italian Oven over the years so it was nice making this memory together!

I came here with my mom and sister after visiting the Flight 93 Memorial. The draft beers were ice cold...served in frosty glasses...which made us immediately happy. We ordered a cup of Italian wedding soup, two cups of roasted red pepper soup, a medium pizza with sausage, banana peppers, and mushrooms, and pasta marinara with linguini and meatballs. Everything was DELICIOUS and I sincerely mean that. The banana peppers were fresh and loved the cheese and crust on the pizza. The meatballs and marinara were full of flavor. Highly recommend. We also really enjoyed talking with our server, "Jeff the Chef." He is awesome and interesting.

We had side salads and Pinneapple and ham pizza. Both were good, house Italian dressing was good. Service was friendly and fast. We are just traveling through but it's good. We would go back if we lived here.

Traveled up here quite awhile ago- just getting back into my yelp game after being popped for taking too much time away which ended my elite status. I mean it's ludicrous I would get popped. Lavale used to have an Italian Oven when I was little, and I remember the pizza, the pasta straws, and really enjoyed the Italian oils and decorations that they had at that location. I want to say it went out of business or closed in Lavale in the late nineties and I thought that was it until I realized there was one in Somerset (I suppose the original) The place was very busy- and they seemed to have lot of issues with their wait staff- one guy in particular who I would say wasn't playing with a full deck. I felt bad for him but the other waitress made it a point to help his tables as well so people did get upset at them. We ordered an appetizer- the bruschetta which was meh. Had all the makings of what you need for bruschetta- bread, oil, tomatoes, but it just seemed half-fast. Wouldn't recommend. For a food I went with the chicken Parmesan (big surprise) which was good, was cold in places and we really had to wait a great deal of time to get our food. I will say what saved this experience was the waitress (wanted to say she had colored hair and odd earrings) but was very nice and attentive as she could be given having to nan several other tables for the lacking waiter as well.Not our best selection, but glad we could mark it off the list.

Pizza came out with wrong/unlisted toppings. Bread came out cold. FOUND 3 HAIRS IN FOODNone of the cooks wear nets and have long beards.

Much like everyone else from Somerset I want the local places to succeed. I owned a business and I understand how hard it is not just put our a good profit, have good employees and still make money. That being said, 2 stars is being very generous. The only reason I'm going that high is because I believe everyone has an off night.After waiting 20 minutes for a take our order I finally get my food. It wasn't busy and no one other than me was standing at the hostess counter. Tool ten minutes before anyone even acknowledged me. When I got home the lasagna I ordered was still frozen in the middle. I know restaurants don't like take out orders but some of us just like to eat in the comfort of our own homes after a long day at work. As I mentioned the food I ordered was still cold. Heck the cheese wasn't even melted. But to be honest I had no intention on eating it anyway. Because while I was waiting I watched a waitress in a purple shirt pick items off someone's salad with her fingers. Yes, I know it happens a lot but I didn't see her wash her hands prior or even after. Maybe I missed it but still thought that was gross.Would not recommend.

Very cozy place with a large menu. Waitresses were prompt even though they were busy. The food was not great, and portions were small for the price. Overall, not a bad experience, but not something I would recommend.

For an old restaurant the food was amazing and the customer service was great. I definitely recommend the meatloaf with potatoes, it was all decently priced for two people with 2 meals
