Hyeholde Restaurant

This is my favorite restaurant in the neighborhood. The food is amazing, I've loved almost every dish I've had there, and Chef Chris is so creative, it's wonderful that he's back! The servers are some of the best around also. I recommend the Hyeholde to people often, it's perfect if you're looking for a romantic place.

After hearing about this place for years, my husband finally snagged us a reservation here in December. As soon as we pulled up, I absolutely loved the ambiance - a cozy little castle in the winter. The inside was so warm and inviting and we were quickly seated at our table on the upper level. The cocktail list was unique and inventive and my server helped me choose between two I had my eye on. My fig cocktail was divine and one of the best drinks I've ever had. The food list was small but we both found entrees we liked - I chose the steak and my husband chose lamb. We also both started with the Sherry bisque. I can see why this soup is a Hyeholde tradition as it was DELICIOUS, I could have licked the bowl clean. Our entrees were just ok though, particularly for the price. Service was very quick and pleasant. Overall, we had a lovely experience but found it to be a little expensive for the quality of the entrees, at least the ones we ordered. However, you get more than enough back in terms of ambiance, service, and taste with the other parts of the meal. We'd still go back for a special occasion!

An outstanding meal and experience.There are quite a few very good restaurants in the Pittsburgh area and Hyeholde is among the best.The building is unique and very comfortable.The cocktails are creative.The food is thoughtful and delicious. The Chestnut Pasta was particularly rich and enjoyable.The service is attentive. Everything is served quickly after being ordered, resulting in a shorter stay than you might expect.Visit the downstairs walkway to see an interesting history of the building and restaurant.

Wow wow wow. Literally all I can say!! We've been wanting to book the chef's table for a while and was finally able to get reservations. From the start when you step in the restaurant all the staff are so kind. They brought us back to the kitchen where our table was perfectly set, in the back of the kitchen overlooking all the chefs. The Chef's Table consists of a curated menu made with fresh, local and seasonal ingredients. Each dish was perfectly balanced and full of flavor. Some of my favorites were the grilled mushrooms, smoked trout rillette and the venison strip loin. It was such a cool experience to be sitting right in the kitchen watching all the action. Their cocktails were also delicious, expertly made and complimented the meal perfectly. The Chef's Table is definitely a splurge but so so so worth it!

Wow. From the service to the ambiance to the meal itself, everything was perfect. The architecture of the castle itself is beautiful. Between dishes, we were told about the love story behind Hyeholde and its roots. We had an intimate corner spot upstairs which was wonderful. All of the dishes were exceptional (we had charcuterie and the cheese board, the short rib, and the chestnut pasta). Will definitely be our new special occasion spot.

Super expensive but excellent. Definitely fine dining. We loved everything about the entire meal and the intire experience. We asked for water when we sat down and they asked if we wanted sparkling or still and we said still is fine and they brought us out bottles of water and charged us $10. I asked for regular tap because when you're spending $300 on a meal you obviously don't want to add to the tab with something as ridiculous as bottled water when water is FREE at most restaurants. Thought that to be irritating and it did put a damper on the experience but whatever.The food itself was great. We had the cassoulet, both of the different kinds of oysters plus oyster rockefeller, the elk strip loin, the trout, the creme brulee, and a couple of cocktails/champagneThe space is beautiful. I found the service a bit pretentious and stuck up. It was definitely a 3.5-4 star experience. We would still go back and give them another chance

I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant! The food was absolutely amazing! This is now one of my favorite restaurants. The food was cooked to perfection. Ribs were savory and slow cooked until they fell off the bone! Sea bass was nice and flakey. The vegetarian feast was amazing! All the different flavors from the veggies matched wonderfully. Cocktails were divine!All the employees were attentive, knowledgeable, polite and had great recommendations. They knew the extensive history of the building. Ambiance was old timed, romantic, and over all interesting! The restaurant still has original and one of a mind pieces from when the restaurant first opened up! Overall i highly recommend this restaurant. Will be going back here! And save room for dessert! Pistachio was to die for!

A truly lovely special occasion restaurant! Hyehold leads with history & tradition, creating an upscale dining experience in a unique, European style, cozy atmosphere with wonderful service.This meal was epic & included the best asparagus with a spring ramp dressing - the best asparagus l've ever had & a really memorable dish. Bookmark this spot for your next special occasion.

The atmosphere and the ambience are so cute and picturesque. Unfortunately the food and drinks fall flat. We saw really cute cocktails on Instagram so we decided to give Hyehold a try. The drinks looked nothing like they did on Instagram, because completely different ingredients were used. Strange. Take down that recent post if you're not going to serve those cocktails, it's misleading. The food was fine, but the portions were TINY and everything was average. I ordered the chicken and it was alright but my vegetables were so hard I could barely cut them with a knife. The crème brûlée was good but the chocolate spoons were way overkill in my opinion. I couldn't taste anything but melted chocolate. I can see how people would like it, but it wasn't for me. Service was outstanding.

Our family thought we had reservations for my son's birthday 2/28 but when we arrived, there was no record of the reservation. Thank you to the staff who were wonderful and were able to seat us ! The food and service was excellent as always !
