I got a Chicago dog from Hott Dawgz while at the Food Truck Festival at the Meadows. The dog was pretty good, but it came on a regular hot dog bun rather than the seeded bun needed in Chicago!

I stopped by here a couple of Thursday's ago for an afternoon snack. Our neighborhood has food trucks come to it every other Thursday and this Thursday happened to be Hott Dawgs. This "food truck" is actually more of a food trailer that is pulled by a pickup truck. On the day that we visited it there were two gentlemen inside working it and they had a window on the front to order from and then a window on the side to pick up from. Since I knew I didn't want hot dogs alone to be my dinner this night, I went in with the mindset that I was only getting one. This actually made things difficult since there were a number of different options on the menu which all sounded really good. Ultimately I decided on the Buffalo blue which consisted of blue cheese, Buffalo sauce and scallions. At $6 it wasn't a cheap hot dog but that's about what I would expect to pay for a gourmet dog. After a couple of minutes my food was ready and I ended up taking it back to my house in order to eat it. The first thing that I noticed on eating it was that it was a good hot dog. Not like that crap you get from fast casual places, but an all beef dog. The bun here was pretty good too as it was soft and held all of the ingredients without falling apart. Last but not least, the toppings were all good. I mean Buffalo sauce, blue cheese and scallions are a classic combo and worked well on the hot dog. Overall I ended up enjoying it and thought that it was a good snack. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. I enjoyed the food that I had and would be interested in trying some of their other flavors like the BBQ pulled pork and slaw.

Why doesn't this place have more reviews? Seriously? With all the festivals recently in the downtown Pittsburgh region it was hard not to bump into this place. Some people might just walk by, but not me. What drew me in was the fact that they had all their menu items made up on a table, taking out the guess work whether you would like it or not. It made me think I was at a picnic. After staring at the table and salivating for several minutes I knew I had to try the Burgh Way Dawg. Thought this should be the way to go while I was walking the streets of the Burgh. A quarter pound hot dog topped with what you would expect from a Burgh inspired hot dog. Fresh cut fries and slaw, but with one added twist, pastrami. A tip for you, ask for a fork. Unless you have a big mouth, and I don't mean being loud, this thing will not fit. Especially since it is served to you on a nice sized Breadworks bun. This thing definitely taught me one thing that day, my eyes truly were bigger than my stomach. I could not finish this thing, try as I might. It was a sad day for me and my hot dog loving ways. I literally picked at this thing until I could no longer take another bite.I didn't let that deter me, because I ended up back here later for another bite to eat. However this time around I ended up getting the fried pickles. These were delicious and I made myself finish them. The spicy onion dipping sauce that goes with this was a nice addition to the flavors already there.Let me tell you about the staff. They were passionate about their food. I was discussing the different dogs to be had and the staff each had their own favorites. It was like a competition to them to try and convince you to pick their favorites. They were dedicated in here as well, almost everything was made fresh. Each time something had to be made fresh they were apologizing. Hey, no need to apologize, I actually appreciate this, freshness is best.

Wow these dogs are good. I had the JC (jalapeños and cheddar cheese sauce). I asked for pickle and tomato to be added and my request was free of charge. 1/4 pound Nathan's all need hot dog on a fresh roll from Breadworks. The dog was really good and upper filling. They have a variety of different dog styles and they come on your choice of a pretzel bun, roll or tortilla. The food truck also has sides like fries, deep fried pickles and more. Really fast service.

Hott Dawgz was a food truck at a community day I was recently at and it was delicious! I had the Buffalo Bleu hot dog which has blue cheese crumbles, buffalo sauce and onions. It was so good! My friend had the "Al's" which had pulled pork and cheese dribbled over it. She raved about it! If I ever get the chance to eat one of their hot dogs again, I will!!

Great selection of hot dogs - 1/4 lb Nathans hot dogs. Tried the Courtney because it was over the top different. It was a bacon wrapped dog with macaroni & cheese & BBQ sauce. So very good, but grab a fork too! Hubby tried the Our Way (pulled pork & slaw) which he loved; also had the New York (spicy brown mustard, onions & kraut). He wasn't as much of fan of this one. Got an order of fries too.Would definitely recommend this food truck for any of the festivals.

Some interesting styles of Hot Dawgz with a 6 oz Nathans Dog on a Breadworks bun. Good Stuff! Check out the menu. Decided to go with the Burgh since it has Pastrami with slaw and fries. It is a real mouthful. Really enjoyed the Dawg and the slaw but the pastrami was overwhelmed by all the other flavors. The fried pickles with a Blooming Onion Sauce was good too.
