2 Stars - Which means - not worth the try. Unless it's sweet meat wings only - which I'm definitely not a fan of. And even then, 3 stars. Every year we have a function we go to where I get to try this most delicious food. And every year my wife reminds me that we are having it so I can eat two to three hours before- because for some off chance it's good, I can eat some decent food. Well- every year Hotel disappoints. Every single year. Nothing changes. Except for the game of is it burn or not burnt, soggy or plastic, cooked or raw, etc etc etc. Here's the reason - there's nothing special here. And if it's just for convenience, your especially lucky if your food isn't over or under cooked. I feel like Chef Boyardee (not Boiardi) made my pizza. It was a square pizza with mediocre dough, burnt edges, rubber cheese, and low end toppings. Luckily if you want a decent amount of toppings you have to order extra extra toppings. How this place gets 5 star ratings escapes my mind. Tony's freezer pizza is better. I'm not trying to hurt the business, but once a year I get to try this pizza and for the last 8 years, every time it just disappoints. Now here's the skinny on the wings... there's no depth to the sauce. Personally, I like my crust crunchy, no bones showing, smoke, and a decent amount of sauce, not too much though. - and good sauce! Sauce you want to drink straight from it's container. You are not getting that here. There is no possible way this place would ever be able to bottle any of their sauces and sell them country wide. The buffalo- I just don't get it. You would have to try it to see what I mean. I took one bite and was done. The sweet meat- I tried one, ate it all in a few bites and it felt like I didn't need another. Let's break that down, if your a wing lover (which I AM...) when is the last time you only ate one wing and stopped. I'm definitely not a fan of sweet anything when it comes to savory. I tolerate it. The sweet meat sauce is one of the better sweet meat flavors I have had - 7/10. If you like sweet meat wings and want to try a new place, you might want to check this place out. If you want anything else from this place, I personally would go hungry. Which I do every year. I will say that out of 20 or so wings - you had a good mix of flaps and drums, many of the drums were irregular and missing parts you normally see in a wing. You are NOT allowed to ask for flaps only. The prices are exorbitant for everything on the menu, except the pizza... wonder why. But if you can't do buffalo, you might as well stop saucing wings. When I'm starving for some wings, I take one piece off the flap perfectly and then eat it all. The drums are normally three bites for me.

Hotel Loyal...where to begin?I am almost 50 years old and have been coming to Hotel Loyal since I was a child. My first memories are that of my 6 year old self. After all this time, I have not once been disappointed. Although I no longer live in the area (I was born in Latrobe), I am sure to ALWAYS have at least one pizza night at Hotel Loyal EVERY VISIT back home. Sometimes, God willing, I have dined multiple times in one visit! :)Now having said that, this review will be of their thick crust (original) pizza. If you are not a fan of thick crust pizza (my wife, with her New York City origins, of course prefers a thin crust), then you will have to try the thick crust and decide for yourself. However, most everyone I have ever introduced to Hotel Loyal thick crust pizza had LOVED it. When I was in the Navy, friends would sometimes come to visit Latrobe with me and I would take them to the Hotel....and they loved it! I have even had family members that come to visit me purchase a parbaked pizza and deliver it to me here in NC! And once again, everyone I have shared it with LOVES it! (Disclaimer: this is my own honest experience, your mileage may vary...but I would be surprised)Ok, now that all of my bias is out on display, I will dial it back to give my review...If you chose to dine in, you will be treated to a small, cozy dining area, adorned with colorful neon beer signs, the aroma of delicious pizza wafting throughout. There are both tables and booths, all of which are always clean and stocked with salt, pepper and "sprinkle cheese" shakers. Grated Parmesan for all those not from the area. The pizza has always come out fresh. The service has always been attentive and helpful, even during the busy times, and with both dine-in and takeout, it can get busy! The prices are very reasonable (even in these times of record inflation). And if you are not in the mood for their pizza (how that could be, I do not know), their menu offers a wide range of "pizza restaurant" options. (I have been told by the odd members of my party who choose to order something other than the pizza, that their food was always on point.)In conclusion, while I have grown up with Hotel Loyal, I would give them a 5/5 regardless. My only problem is that, very recently, they have scaled back their hours and are now only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday... I truly hope this changes in the near future.

In this day and age, iceberg lettuce has been replaced by mixed greens, I think Hotel Loyal is behind the times here. I ordered a grilled chicken salad. Came with fries, hard boiled egg, cucumbers, Tomatoes and onions. No cheese, no croutons. The chicken is definitely a mystery meat and it is not grilled. Called and told a man by the name of Mike about the salad, didn't really care what I had to say.

Best pizza that I have ever had in my life. Maybe because of my childhood memories or when they use to make the dough with Rolling Rock, IDK. Still have never found a better pizza and I have been all over this great world. (Pilot)

I love this pizza. Thin bakery, buttery crust and a great sweeter sauce. It's my pizza place of choice in the Latrobe area. They do deliver, but it tends to take longer than other pizza places. If you go into the resturaunt, the service is typically friendly. One downside is if you call in an order when they are busy, they put you on hold for a while. I waited on hold for over 5 minutes yesterday, hung up and called back again a little while later only to b put back on hold, which is just them laying the phone down. They need a hold button so you cant hear what they are saying. I sure was looking forward to eating the delicious pizza, but should have just went in to eat.

I can only speak on the food, and it is wonderful! I don't eat in, but they do have the dining room option. Their thick crust original pizza is the way to go!

There are so many great restaurants in Latrobe especially pizza joints. You have Jioio's & Gino's obviously. But you really have to include Hotel Loyal as one of the great places to eat (particularly pizza) in Latrobe. The pizza is square, thin or thick crust, and simply delicious. There are sandwiches and other classic Italian meals - I've never had a bad meal here. The service is very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is great - lots of old school Latrobe stuff, STEELERS, Penguins, and Pirates. They still pay homage to Rolling Rock here with lots of memorabilia. The bar is awesome - huge and it just feels like your hometown bar where the bartender knows what you drink and all your buddies are there to greet you. I really do love this place. Ya definitely gotta try this place n'at. Yinz will be glad ya did!

One of our favorite little restaurant/bars to visit who offers great food and excellent service. Pizza thick and thin crust are both always on point. Wings are extra crispy and one of my favorite styles of wings. Almost like a flour dipped wing, super crispy and nice spice rub all in one. April is usually working when we go on Saturdays and is the best bartender around. Gets crazy busy on Saturdays so I would recommend going before 5:00 if you are going with a group of 4 or more to order food. This spot is absolutely hands down the CLEANEST bar/pubs I have seen. Always looking forward to our next visit!
