This place is getting a 5 because of the vibes. I loved loved loved going here for college nights. $6 liters of their biers, live music (that is pretty loud$, people getting trashed clanking steins, and just overall a fun time. In the summer they have a bunch of tables outside as well that's great to sit at for an hour or two by the river on the trailsThe food itself is pretty solid as well honestly. They have all traditional German food as you'd expect and some healthy less hearty options if you're not trying to have the traditional comfort styleThe brauts are always BOMB, salmon I had once was cooked nice, pretzels slap, potato pancakes solid, and those creme puffs... don't leave without oneServers are always nice and wear the Dirndls for the vibes

Once again I find myself at Hofbrau. Easily one of the best spots in Pittsburgh. Delicious as always - got myself the Bauern Schnitzel with some fried cabbage and German potato salad. Appetizer of the day were some delicious potato pancakes.Washed it all down with the Festbier. So good. Favorite spot. 10/10 A+

I've eaten in the Hofbrauhaus in Munich, Germany, but most often the Pittsburgh location. It's not quite the same, but close. If you're in the mood for German cuisine in Pittsburgh this is a good alternative to a trip to Munich. Great atmosphere and good food and selection of beer.

Fun German venue that's great for large groups on the Southside Flats! Lots of outdoor seating when weather permits. The German menu features all the classics:Potato pancakes, pierogis, fried cabbage, red cabbage, speatzle, schnitzel & bratwurst! The servers are attentive & fun!And did I mention the beer!

While I give preference to local German restaurants, the food here is fairly authentic and delicious.I like the experience of sitting at the big communal tables, this place is very accommodating for large groups. My friends and I will sometimes come here for the Fasching celebration, and there's generally live music.I love sitting outside on the porch. The servers are very attentive.

Came for restaurant week promotion. My outdoor server was excellent! The meal itself had highs and lows in the 3 course menu for $24. The bier cheese was great but the soft pretzel was dry and stale. The wurst platter...meats were cooked perfectly and seasoned nicely. The sauce beneath them was so complex but not nearly enough for 3 wursts. The spatzel was fine. Low on seasoning as most of the flavor came from the bier cheese. Potato pancake cooked perfectly but also lacked some seasoning. The Bavarian cream puff was excellent! As a big craft beer person, I love the liter and half liter options but not a fan of having to ask price points as they are not listed in their website or paper menu. Some places do half the size half the price. Others do a price point that is of better value ordering the larger size. You feel a little cheap having to ask how their price points are distributed

Checked out Hofbrauhaus for Oktoberfest! So much fun and so much energy!!! Indoor seating was first come first serve- but it did not take too long. They also have their outdoor bier garden open with bar service only. Live music showcasing the best German inspired music to create a fun fest environment. Authentic German food was delicious. Love their bratwurst, sauerkraut and mashed potatoes! Also tried their appetizer sampler which had Rueben balls, pretzels, fried pickles and potato pancakes! And of course their beer steins are the perfect touch to Oktoberfest! Great experience - PROST!

My coworker and I were both from out of town for work. We decided to hit this place for dinner because we love German food and beer. This was a great decision because this place mirrors Hofbrahaus in Munich! I know this because I was just in Munich and stopped there for dinner! They have a stage, but unfortunately, a band wasn't playing while we were there. Our waitress, Kamryn, was terrific and knew how to push our buttons. We started laughing almost immediately and didn't stop until we left the restaurant. Obviously, we had to get big-boy beers! I ordered the jagerschnitzel, and my buddy ordered a sausage plate. You really couldn't go wrong here. It will be a must-have dinner anytime I'm in the PA for work. Great staff, environment, food, and beer!
