Hard Times

Hard times is a favorite for so many reasons! I thoroughly enjoy their signature sandwich, the Hard timer, which is a Pittsburgh style sandwich that you choose between different meats, I love the turkey and my husband loves the Italian. Also Wednesday's special is Creamed Turkey, Mashed potatoes, a Biscuit and corn! It's delicious! I tend to call ahead and pick up my order, but eating in is nice as well- the waitresses are very nice.

Great food. Great portions. And great prices. Don't really enjoy the bar atmosphere though. Other than that downfall great place to eat!

Gave this place another chance for breakfast. Ok dish food but needs more consistency. First experience the pancakes had a texture of cornmeal and the homefries were so undercooked that i couldnt believe the actually sent it out. This time gravy and biscuits. Small flat biscuits and the gravy has a gelatinous texture. Also there are flies everywhere. Other dishes the group recieved were well proportioned and enjoyed. But hey its breakfast.

Very small, but amazing service and atmosphere. I love stopping here for a lunch or quick dinner. The staff are always so nice and there's never TOO many people. The food is always satisfying. It's one of those places that everybody loves around the area. Very clean, also!

Hard Times has one of the best Philly Cheese Steaks I have ever had, and I tend to try the Philly Cheese Steak everywhere I go. It is a huge sandwich, and well worth it. The "whole" is an 18 inch bun from Mancini's Bread. The other food is good too, but I'm always mad at myself later if I don't get the Philly. You can get the same Philly at the Crooked Dock, but I think they are always better from Hard Times. I don't know why. The only complaint I have about hard times is that it is always freezing inside. Still, I'll wear a coat in July while I eat that Philly.

Visiting on vacation from California- LOVED it here. Beautiful view of the river, prompt and courteous service, and we got fries with our salad!! (Was a great and welcome surprise). Would return again!
