Happy Day Dessert Factory

Not going to lie, I was excited to try this place. I drove past one day and the cute neon sign caught my eye. The reviews seemed pretty good. Super bummed that it didn't live up to the expectations for me. I got one scoop of oat n honey granola in a waffle cone (on Wednesdays you get a free waffle cone), my husband got two scoops also in a waffle cone. It was no wonder the cone is free. Both were so stale and chewy. His flavors were good, mine was not. Just very "meh" and boring. Dairy Queen would have been more satisfying, if I'm being brutally honest. The cone/cup prep area behind the counter looked disheveled and unclean. That should have been the first sign. The employees were also not very friendly. And the cookies looked like stale store bought. I left wishing I could get a calorie refund. I wish I could recommend this place, but it just wasn't it.(UPDATE AFTER POSTING. Both of us ended up sick after visiting Happy Day. That is saying a lot, because I have an iron stomach and I am not sensitive to dairy like most others are. Food never upsets my stomach like this did. Happy Day turned into Bad Day. Will not be back. Do not recommend at all, sadly).

This shop is really cute! They get busy when the weather gets nice and there was only one person working today. They were super patient and nice. The ice cream is yummy! I thought the coconut milk soft serve would come out of the machine but it's actually a scooped ice cream. It was still really good and I love that they have DF options. They have regular soft serve and scoops of ice cream too. They have Italian ice as well and shakes and cakes and ice cream sandwiches and they have pretzels too. A pretty big menu! The space is pretty big and they have good seating. Hype to discover this cute little spot on Western.

I always strive to be as positive and encouraging as possible in my reviews. Even though, I wasn't a huge fan of Happy Day, I'll be as positive as I can be. 3 stars is actually generous in itself. I saw they had Cinnamon Toast Crunch which I love so I asked for a taste which was given begrudgingly. I loved it but unfortunately they barely had any left so I couldn't have it. I knew I couldn't ask for another taste since they didn't want to give me the first. I got the Funfetti since I usually love Funfetti but it was super blah. It really was just vanilla with a handful of sprinkles. My mom and husband had the chocolate mousse which they said was just ok. We ate there and got out of there. They acted like we were a burden being there so we didn't want to stay any more than we had to. Unfortunately, the name doesn't match the level of service you receive. We love ice cream but won't be back.

Coming from the National Aviary on a hot sunny day, me & my friend wanted to get some icecream. Luckily this place was just 3 minute drive! So good!

Very reasonable prices coming from kind folks who serve you well. This is my second time getting this combination from here and i'd say that tells you I enjoyed the ice cream! It's nice inside, clean bathrooms too even. Cute welcoming shop :)

The ice cream was good. I got chocolate chip cookie dough and chocolate mousse. However I couldn't really taste the difference. The service was good. There was not many people there and as you asked for your order they begun to make it. This place is pretty cute.

Celebrated Ice Cream Day at Happy Day Dessert Factory! I live a half mile away so we always walk to HD. It's on Western Ave. right on the Northside. I am a sucker for custard so that is all I've ever gotten! It's so good! My fiancé gets a Twister with their almond milk soft serve & cookie dough bites. I love that they have dairy free options in good/regular flavors. Some other places only have wild DF options lol. They also have homemade hard ice cream, water ice and more. There is seating inside but since we walk, we always have our dog with us & it is not dog friendly inside so we haven't had the chance to sit and eat in. It's always good service & so happy to support a local Black-owned business!

Based on the name "Happy Day Dessert Factory," I had expected to see lots of cakes, pies, and pastries. However, during my visit, I saw mostly ice creams (including a couple interesting flavors such as Cinnamon Toast Crunch) and some ice cream cakes, milkshakes, water ices, funnel cakes, cookies, etcetera.My first impression of this business was that it was spacious and clean and had large televisions. An employee immediately served me. The weather was cold outside, so I skipped the ice cream, and I instead opted to buy cookies. The display of cookies was small but offered several flavors. I bought four cookies for a total of over $5. The employee wished me a nice night.I ate the cookies at home. All of the cookies tasted fresh. The large-sized chocolate chip cookie contained many large chocolate chips. The three other flavors--cinnamon, oatmeal raisin, and sprinkles--were in a regular size and tasted good also.

For the love of ice cream and all things sweet.Supporting this locally owned business is a breeze because the product they put out is so worthy.May fave ice cream flavors are their apple pie and birthday cake.Gummy Fish Water Ice is so freaking good.They've got other offerings such as almond milk soft serve, frozen yogurt, cakes and more.

We really wanted to support small/local and we were so excited to stop in for our first visit. My first impression was that the shop could have been cleaner. Then, the staff was not friendly at all during our transaction. I'm not sure if it was because we were there 30 min before close on a Friday? After we paid, the man behind the counter gave my husband a waffle cone that was burnt / charred to a crisp. I thought it was covered in dark chocolate at first!! but it was just severely overcooked. I asked if it tasted how it looked and he unfortunately said yes :/ .
