Hal's Bar and Grill

First time visiting Hal's since my brother just moved to the area. Place is big with a nice outdoor patio and indoor bar area. Would be great to watch a game here. We were sat in their dining area in a booth. We ordered the nacho grande to kick things off and they did not disappoint, definitely fed between 3-4 people. For my entree I ordered the Italian hoagie and it was very good, the bun was toasted and I could tell the lettuce and onion were fresh. My brother got their wings and they looked very good.Fries and ranch also very good. Our service was kind of hit and miss. We were sat and 45 mins went by and no one came by to check on us lol. But after that it was all good and no issues the rest of the night. Definitely will stop back here soon.

I've loved their Seitan wings from the moment I laid eyes on them. I've been gone from Pittsburgh for a few years and while in town stopped at Hal's. Still as good as I remember! Server was nice, patient with my indecisive friends.

I went here for my sons birthday.my son choose the location for the meal.We got there and where seated immediately.The person who sat us was very nice and friendly.I ordered a hamburger with fries and a french onion soup.The food was good not the best but very goodWhat set this place apart from other places at least for me was the service.The gal who served us was amazing.She was super helpful super friendly and very attentive.She came back at least 5-6 times maybe more checking to see if we needed anything and that everything was ok.I have to say this was among the best service I have ever received at any restaurant anywhere.I would definitely go back again and I would highly recommend this Hal's Bar and Grill.I give the food a solid 3 stars but the service was actually 5 stars for sure overall I give them 4 stars.

We were on our way to a show downtown and stopped here for dinner on a Saturday. It was already packed around 5pm which is a good sign for sure.The hostess was friendly and hot is seated straightaway. Our waitress Anna was awesome, friendly and patient as she gave recommendations and addresses the GF and DF constraints of a member innour party.Very lively atmosphere here, the food was good and overall menu has great selections to pick from. The beer selection is also great. It is good to have a restaurant on this side of Babcock Blvd as there are not any food options there.Good bar serup and seating around the sides. We will be back, ask for Anna if she has a shift, she was great.

I have a bit of a love hate relationship with Hals. When we first started coming here, I thought the food was pretty good (loved they had vegan/vegetarian options) and the service was overall good. The first couple times we sat at tables then a few times we were at the bar and the service was very fragmented as our visits continued. Things I really like about Hal's. It's close, they serve seitan (bonus star for that) and a few draft craft beers and cocktails. They have a rather extensive bottle list, but I prefer draft if drinking a craft beer. Lots of TVs to view no matter where you may be seated, and an outdoor area that looks inviting.The things I don't like that have steered us to other establishments. The food can be inconsistent. We have ordered pizza here in the past and thought it rather good, then to order it again and think is this the same place? The bartenders have been known to leave for some time and leave you hanging for a refill. I completely get having to leave, maybe you need to use the restroom, or get a drink or supplies. But the place is too busy to have no one there for that long. To go along with this, the bartenders have come off to me as dismissive or annoyed at requests for refills. If I must ask three times for a water refill, I start feeling like I am not being listened to. Overall, cool place to come occasionally especially if I am craving some seitan! But it did lose its initial appeal quickly.

Service was amazing considering how busy it was. Harley, our server, had to make my martinis.. and she nailed it. Wings were crispy, burger very well seasoned (which I find is rare when ordering a burger), chilled water in a large glass bottle were "up" without needing to specifically ask. It was packed, but the service felt like we were the only patrons here. I had a bad experience 10 years ago, and just came back recently. Very glad I did!

Second time here. One of the few places open after 10 pm. on a Friday night in the North Hills of Pittsburgh. Large menu with decent bar food, rotating beers on tap. The place was packed & very loud. Servers were hopping & very attentive to all their customers. Even though the bar & restaurant area was crowded, it was very clean & they turned over their tables quickly, without rushing any of their customers out the door. Plan to go back in warmer weather for their patio seating.

Excellent dish - Definitely try the stuffed gnocchi with short ribs! This entree is worthy of a fancy Italian restaurant.

Hadn't been back in a few years. Went last night for a friend's birthday dinner. We had a great time. My birthday friend started out with the pierogis. I don't eat them but my friends loved them and they looked good. I had the short rib grilled cheese, which was scrumptious. It was so meaty and tender. Loved it and will be dreaming about it. The French fries were very good. My birthday friend had the cod sandwich and fries which she really enjoyed. It looked really crispy and was quite large. My other friend really enjoyed her chicken salad. It came in a big bowl. They seemed to be a bit short staffed. Took a while to get drinks and food.

It's a great sports bar with very good food and great, friendly service. I'll definitely go back.
