Quaint little place. It's always like ... stepping back to a better time. Staff is excellent. Service is fast. Food time to table... is glacial. Diner food that tastes like diner food. Pitch perfect. Highly recommended.

It's name literally includes "steakhouse" yet there are no steaks on the menu? The food is mediocre but I came for steak and the "steak" salad as shredded beef on it. Pass.

This place is small and tucked, away just off a major road through town, so that I almost missed it the first time I went. It's definitely got that small cozy diner atmosphere and many of the patrons are regulars. Nothing fancy here, just good cooking. It's an excellent place for breakfast. Their prices are good compared to the other big chain places in town and the food is as good or better. The staff has always been friendly and attentive and seem to really want you to enjoy your meal. Although I have been there when it's busy, I've never had to wait for a table or prompt service. I must confess I have never been there for dinner but if you are looking for a nice small town atmosphere, no frills, good food and good service diner then Greenwood Steak House is a place to check out.

In Altoona on business. Always like to eat local. Found Greenwood Steak House on Yelp while looking for breakfast. Came in after 11:00 a.m. which is when they stop serving breakfast, stayed for their Hot Roast Beef Sandwich special and it was excellent. Portion size was ample and service was great! Don't "judge a book by it's cover" as the exterior is deceiving of it's comfortable and bright interior. Try it. Eat LOCAL!

What a great find!! Very friendly staff, family atmosphere and the food was amazing. Highly recommend! The only downfall is they did not have Heinz ketchup. We are partial to that since we are from Pittsburgh.
