Restaurant is inside the Crowne Plaza Suites Hotel. This particular night only one server was on duty as server and also bartending. There were quite a few patrons but she handled it beautifully. The menu had several options from salads, small plates, and entrees.I opted for an Asian salad with shrimp and was happy with my choice. I also had a glass of Reisling.I thought all the menu prices were reasonable.

Gather Restaurant & Bar is located inside of the Crowne Plaza Hotel so it was very convenient to come here for some after dinner drinks. We decided to eat elsewhere for dinner so this review is strictly about the ambiance, service, and drinks.Coming from out of town, we stayed at this hotel to attend a wedding here. With a lot of family in town, everyone wanted somewhere convenient to grab some drinks together. Gather was quite spacious and easily accommodated around 25 of us. The ambiance was nice, and the bar isn't overly loud so that you can keep a normal conversation. As far as service goes, the 2 bartenders working did a great job. Everyone pretty much ordered on their own at the bar then brought it back to our group table. Even though there were a lot of us drinking, the bartenders did well keeping up with the long list of drink orders. The drinks did come out quite good also! Some of the drinks I think could have been a bit stronger, but luckily for us they had a special on Fridays. Any Faber distillery alcohol is only $4/drink. Using the Faber liquor, some of the group's favorite drinks were pomegranate vodka with cranberry juice, gin and tonics, pineapple juice and rum, and whiskey cokes. Cheers to Gather for being a great place to have a drink and catch up with family.

I don't see why there are so many bad reviews for this place because I felt Gather was extremely adequate for my needs. I've eaten here 9 times spread out over a few weeks between breakfast, lunch and dinner. I mean, you don't go somewhere 9 times if you don't like it right? Also, it's inside the Crowne Plaza hotel and it's quite easy to just walk downstairs. Lol. Let us begin.Atmosphere/Appearance: Quite cozy and comfy. There may be space for 8 people directly at the bar, tables for maybe 12 in the bar area and another 36 throughout the dining area. Like I said, it's inside a hotel, so there are no outside windows, just big glass ones that allow you to gawk at people dragging their luggage on by. People watching for the win. Very modern and simple feel.Service: Sadly, THIS is where this place lacks. For breakfast, everything is cool. There's a buffet available so you kinda serve yourself. This could be my fault... but every time I came here for dinner I either sat at the bar or in the bar area. Karen, I believe is her name, bless her heart. Lol. She's so sweet, personable, helpful, funny and did I say sweet? She's just a bit slow. Seems like she may get flustered easily and can be forgetful, but no matter. I'm never in a rush there so I allot a fair amount of time to chill, hangout and eat.Food: DELICIOUS. I ate here 9 times and had something different almost each time yet the food was on par consistently. Very good. Their buffet is pretty extensive and it's SO MUCH better than Holiday Inn Express breakfast. Lol. They have freshly cooked bacon, grits, two types of eggs, fresh fruit, the list goes on and on. They switch it up too, not the same thing every day, which I loved. I won't go through each entree I've had, but I have managed to get the Vegetarian Omelet, Jumbo Wings, BBQ Pork Quesadilla, Crowne House Salad, Arugula & Fennel Salad, Crowne Burger and California Burger. My favorite of these was definitely the Crowne Burger, in which I added Pepper Jack cheese and bacon. I was also allowed to substitute the fries out for sweet potato fries! Huge portion, savory, messy and full of flavor. My 2nd favorite would be that omelet. It felt good going meatless and it was filled with perfectly cooked vegetables. On one of my salads I added chicken and shrimp, excellent decision, I'll always do the chicken... I'll explain the shrimp in the next section.Value: (Inhales through teeth.) Well, somethings here are worth it. The burgers, the breakfast buffet and the omelet for sure. Now the wings, definitely not. $10.00 for 6 wings? You crazy. They were good, but ain't worth it. The shrimp for the salad, $6.00 for 3. THEY TRIPPIN'. Even my server knew they were trippin'. When she brought me my salad and it had 3 shrimp on it, I looked at her and she already knew what time it was. I said, "3 shrimp for $6.00"? She agreed, went to get her manager and he said he'd throw some more on the grill for me. So I wound up with 6 for $6.00. I felt a lot better about that. Lol. I just won't get shrimp on my salad there anymore. The food is decently priced for the most part though, just don't come in here thinking you're going to spend less than $20.00 for dinner. In conclusion, this is my go-to spot for eating when I'm staying at this hotel. The food is good, pricing is okay and it's a walk down the hallway. Don't be afraid to ask the front desk for the 20% off coupons to the restaurant, they help reduce the price of the bill dramatically. That's what I did each and every time!

This place was great! I've never written a review before but for a hotel restaurant I was very impressed. Perfect service, renovated, engaging staff, and really chill. I recently visited a friend who was staying at the hotel where this restaurant is located (Crowne Plaza Pittsburgh South in Bethel Park area) and I joined them and a few others for dinner and drinks at Gather. The food was great (I recommend the meatloaf) and priced accordingly, not cheap but right where I expect a hotel restaurant to be.The best part of the location was the staff. I wasn't even staying at the hotel but the desk staff waved and said hello and the hostess was very kind and sat me while I waited for my friends. Our evening was a long one but the staff always checked on us and was very friendly and conversational but without being intrusive.I spoke with a sharply dressed male (manager?) that thanked us for dining with them and told us about the new renovations not only for the restaurant but for the whole hotel, some other changes within the restaurant, and even some upcoming things to look forward to like a new menu from their new head chef which included some unique food items that sounded delicious. It was really nice to see the staff as well as the managers valuing not just our business but our company as well.I plan to return again the next time my friend is in town.

My husband, son and I stayed at the attached hotel while in town to visit family. We picked the hotel based on the fact it had a restaurant/bar attached. I needed something to hold me over until my family returned from an amusement park. I ordered a chicken quesadilla without peppers and an order of fries. Figured it would be a good snack to reheat as well. My food came out in a decent amount of time however my quesadilla had peppers and beans in it. I saw that it came with peppers and requested to have a 'dilla without- the menu says NOTHING about beans in this item. I triple checked. The menu needs updated or the cook needs to be certain of the item that was ordered. I picked out what I didn't want. It wasn't as good as I was hoping it would be. Tortilla was a bit burnt, dry, not a lot of flavor in the chicken.. meh... Fries weren't bad. I really wasn't impressed with the service. They didn't seem to be as attentive to their guests as one would expect in any restaurant or bar. I know they were slow as I was literally the only one in the restaurant and they had one other guest come in to order food and drinks- he didn't seem too impressed with the lack of attentiveness either. The server seemed new and could possibly need additional training and the bartender just seemed bothered. I'm not a fan of hearing about issues that bartenders or servers had the night before. I feel like that can be discussed behind the scenes and I shouldn't have to hear about it while trying to eat. The server asked if I needed a refill on my drink and while appreciative, she took my glass and never came back. I had to ask the bartender for a new one.... then possibly another 10min after the bartender assisted me (and didn't seem happy about it) the server came back with my original glass. Overall not the best "hotel food/service" experience I've had.

The current reviews are misleading. Let me start off by saying that I have been traveling all over the world for the past several years and have been at many hotel bars/restaurants. I was hesitant to go here because of the horrible rating on Yelp but since I was too lazy to leave, I gave in. I sat at the bar and was promptly greeted by the bartender, Karen. She made me a perfect Manhattan. I then ordered the chicken bruschetta sandwich which was AMAZING. I didn't see anyone complaining about the food as others have posted on Yelp. My food and drinks were great. I would definitely come back to this establishment. The service was excellent.

Waited for 10 minutes at our table-no service. Asked a staff member for service - waited another 10 minutes - nothing. And the place was only half full. Staff looked confused and disoriented. No leadership. We finally just got up and walked out. This is at 11:00 am on a Sunday when you would think brunch staff would be at the top of their game. Shame because we were looking for a convenient option. Disappointed to say the least.

So, here's how I see it. Bars in restaurants serve a function. Beer, drinks and food to get you by. Well that's not this place. Spend time to meet Karin at the bar and order some food. You'll be pleased as she's the best. But, i do wish they would bring back the brussel sprout recipe.

I had bright expectations for this restaurant. It was recently renovated and looked like a great hotel restaurant. Pretty decent menu, it was pricey but had the impression of being upscale. Service was nice but he kitchen was slow. But the food was what really disappointed. I had one good dinner, the gnocchi, but the rest were not so good. The fish and chips was pretty basic, I could've gotten better fish at the local Coney Island for half the price. Ordered a chicken risotto with walnuts and squash. The squash was undercooked, walnuts were missing, and they used cheddar cheese in a risotto. Then we ordered cinnamon French toast for breakfast and there was no cinnamon! Just French toast with powdered sugar. It's an okay restaurant, but it's overpriced for what you get.
