Frank's Star Lunch

yelp led us here, and it was a good choice for lunch in a small town. i was glad to have read the place didn't look like much 'cause it really doesn't. also good knowledge to have was there is no table service; you order at the counter and then food is brought to you. saturday was the "buy 3 get 1 free" special so that's what my husband and i did. we got chili and onions on our hot dogs, and they were good. the dogs don't seem to be grilled, but the chili was good, and the buns were fresh. we also got french fries which were just okay. i was hoping for hot and crispy as they were shoestring potatoes, but they were just warm. they also needed a lot of salt and pepper.

It doesn't look like much and honestly it isn't, however this place just has some good food!Frank's was recommended to us by a local celebrity, at least I think he is. Shingle Shaker, the official scroll reader for Punxsutawney Phil's Groundhog Day shenanigans told us about this local food establishment and I'm glad he did!It's located right in a corner, a somewhat confusing corner so don't get frustrated, pull in beside the building (Google didn't tell us that) and park. The entrance we used was on the side, in not sure if there is another entrance or not. As I said, it doesn't look like much. Just a few tables inside, seems a popular take out place though. They also have seating at the counter. You order at the cash register then find a place to sit and they bring out your food. Again, I took the Single Shaker's suggestion and ordered the loose cheeseburger with fries. Hubby ordered a double cheeseburger with fries. He would have preferred something else but they were out of any salads. Ok, so a loose cheeseburger is basically ground hamburger stuffed into a hot dog bun! The order comes with two, you can't order just one (that would have been my choice) but they are pretty delicious. They put a special family sauce on it, which is a tad sweet but good. It was a little weird because you are expecting a hot dog in a bun but instead it's burger! The buns are soft and yummy. Hubby said it reminded him of sloppy joe, he wasn't a fan but I, really liked it.His double was good and plenty for him. Our fries were good as well but I asked for them to be crispy, which they were not. The food comes out on the smallest paper plates necessary for the food to fit on! Thankfully there were napkins on the table to use, burger on the napkin and use the tiny plate for ketchup .The staff are friendly, especially the order taker at the register. While traveling I prefer local joints for eating and this was local and yummy! If you're in the Punxsutawney area be sure to so here for a loose cheeseburger!

I came to Frank's as it was highly recommend by locals. What an amazing, simple, hotdog, hamburger, sandwich shop. Everything was fresh and made with care. The prices are comparable to that a of a fast food chain, but the quality far exceeded that. They run quite the crowd (and for good reason) so seating might be limited. However, regardless of the line, the food will be delivered quickly. Infact, because we were even standing in a line, we received a free bag of their house-made BBQ chips. Now that's service.I would absolutely try Frank's if you're ever in Punxsutawney! I hope to be

I would eat here for every meal if it wouldn't make me gain a million pounds. Gold mine of a find!! Thanks to all the yelper's out there that made me come to this place, because WOW. My friend who was raised in Punxsy didn't know about this place, and now he swears he'll keep going back. and I wish I lived closer just for that reason. Being from Columbus and finding a hole-in-the-wall that ends up being so delicious is definitely hard to do!! But i am so happily surprised. Everything we tried was absolutely delightful and the family was incredible and so customer focused as well, it was a great experience. Worth taking a detour for.

Excellent fresh burgers and hot dogs at very reasonable price prices. Moving soon but for now in a tight old counter spot. Worth the wait if there is one. Order big! The individual sandwiches aren't huge so quantity is the way to go

Stopped in for a quick late lunch based on Yelp reviews. We weren't greeted, but we knew from other reviews: order at the counter, then take a seat and they'll bring it to you. Food was basic but tasty. We each had a burger and fries. Not gourmet but good - and priced reasonably.Once we made the attempt to chat, the counter service was friendly.

Stopped in on my way threw and had the best hot dog and fries. The owner and staff made us feel so welcomed, Will be stopping back when we come threw again!

It was my first time here and the burger was average. The restaurant is cute. The chips are good. The fries are ok but what's with the Fancy Ketchup?
