First Watch

Went for breakfast this morning and loved it! Had their current special Parmesan prosciutto toast and it was seriously amazing!! Full of so many amazing flavors. I hope they add this to their menu permanently! I will definitely be going back just for this dish! The million dollar bacon was delicious too!

It's been years since we've been to First Watch. We arrived early on a Saturday morning. The restaurant was large with lists of seating. I ordered the breakfast sandwich that was full of flavor. Hubby had the avocado bread with 2 eggs. Great ending with sea salt on top. Seemed to be short staffed. Also as new patrons came in they were all seated in the same area. Seating them elsewhere throughout would have provided a better experience. Everyone was huddled in one corner of the restaurant while there was a huge part of the restaurant with no seating.

We had 2 breakfasts here on our recent trip to Pittsburgh & both were excellent. For one, I had the salmon frittata. It was delicious & came with a nice side salad. For the other, I had the avocado toast, which I've had before. It was delicious as well. It came with 2 eggs.

It's a decent chain breakfast place. Staff is usually friendly and the food is decent. Price is about average.

I decided to place a pick up order today while I was out running some errands in the South Hills. I ordered on their website which was super easy to do. They gave me a pick up time 13 mins from when it was placed so I headed on over to wait in their parking lot till it was ready. I did end up waiting an additional 5-10 minutes which was no big deal for me as it was around what seemed to be a lunch rush. I did pick it up then run to my next errand so it did sit for about 15 minutes before I got to eat it. But in no way did that effect it, it tasted so good and I could not imagine how good it would have been if I ate it right away. Absolutely loved the house roasted onions and tomatoes on it!! Their horseradish sauce on the side completely blew me away, totally enhanced the sandwich. I was unable to eat my side salad though because I was missing silverware even-though I did select them to put some in the bag. No biggie on the utensils though as I was stuffed after eating the sandwich and had no room if I tried. They did put sugar in my bag for my iced tea which I requested.

Good morning everyone, I went this morning to have breakfast with my family at this restaurant, everything was going well until my breakfast had long hair, the waitress and the manager were notified who was very rude, his response was (we all have hair ) For that reason I believe this NO recommendation for this place was in South Hills Village.

First Watch is a go-to for us! Really love the blt Benedict and breakfast sandwich! There's something about First Watch that just feels higher quality than other breakfast chains. I want to try their breakfast drinks but haven't yet. We are also big fans of the kale tonic juice! Going around 8:30/8:45 on a weekend usually means there is little to no wait, so that's what we usually do.

First Watch really offers something for everyone -- from eggs and waffles, to soups and sandwiches. No matter what you're in the mood for, you're likely to find it. They also cater to dietary needs such as vegetarian or gluten-free. Fresh coffee is served by the pot, and service has always been great. Definitely consider First Watch for your next breakfast or lunch outing!

So, this was a take-out order and that may have been the problem. The food overall was just OK nothing to either praise or complain about. My only complaint was the portion sizes for the price, the portions were extremely small, almost comically small. Usually breakfast portions at most restaurants are large sometimes too big but not here. I believe if I had ordered the same thing in the restaurant, it would have been acceptable because a lot of restaurants, including places like Pappadeaux's skimp on take-out orders. Lesson learned..................

I first did a quick glance at the online menu while I waited in the parking lot for friends. The item I decided to order was not something that they had: a ham and gruyere omelet. So I asked for an omelet with ham and Swiss - Nope. No Swiss. I settled for ham and whatever cheese they could find - some yellow stuff with no flavor. The omelet itself was thick and dry and over cooked. The ham was little diced pieces that I only found in the center of the eggs. Nothing had any taste except the bit of lettuce that constituted a side salad. The food was cold within two minutes because of the cold air blowing on our table. It's winter - I don't need air conditioning. I ate four bites and paid through the nose for the privilege. Never again. I can make better at home. It's a breakfast restaurant...I didn't order a Michelin worthy dinner entree.
