3 - Good choice if you're in the area. Skip to the end to see my eating scale. As always, I'll start with the beer - it's really good. They seem to try to keep their brews close to the original style. For example, their IPA is an excellent IPA in the traditional sense which I really appreciate. Nothing fruity or sweet, they hit what an IPA is supposed to be.So why not a higher rating? For me it's just because it's a pretty small place. It was busy the night we were there and they only had one bartender working so service was slow. She was really good, but there was only one of her. Keeping consistent with my eating scale, I'd be hesitant to drive half an hour to visit during the winter again. I heard that they have a really nice outdoor area that's right on the river, so maybe this summer we'll make the drive again to check that out.So yeah, if you're anywhere around Elizabeth, PA Firewhistle is definitely a solid place to get a good beer or two. But the confines were too small and service was too slow for me to want to go 30 minutes out of my way.1 - Just don't 2 - You'll survive, but there are better choices close by 3 - Good choice if you're in the area 4 - I'd drive up to 30 minutes just to come here 5 - I'd try to convince my wife to drive an hour just to come here

This is a new brewery to the Elizabeth area. It has just opened this weekend for a soft opening. Due to the lovely Pennsylvania laws of opening an establishment, they're only permitted to sell visiting breweries beer at this time. They need to wait for the official approvals. Once that happens, they will have a grand opening which will provide an opportunity to taste the beers that they have on tap.In the meantime the place is a smaller establishment but all breweries have to start somewhere to have the ability to grow and expand. The location is easy to find and locate street parking. It's near the fire dept. I did notice many local fireman on site. Reminds me of Mollys on Chicago Fire, PD and Med a place where all of the local fire, police and med hang out. This place has much uniqueness. Karl Bailey is a musician and highly skilled on the piano. Heard him play a tune and it was awesome. He told us that's what he does for a living. He's going to perform in the future and that will be awesome. The place has some bugs to work out but I can tell it's going to do great and be a local hot spot that people go to. I'm sure I'm the future they will be on the Laurel Highlands Pour Tour and be another stop to get that sticker.

We visited Firewhistle Brewing over the Thanksgiving holiday, and we were so glad we stopped by. Firewhistle is located in Elizabeth and parking was available on the street close to the brewery. We visited to check out a new local business and really enjoyed our time there. Firewhistle offers several taps of their own beer, a guest tap, canned beer options, and mixed drinks made with local spirits from other Pennsylvania businesses. The beers we tried were the pumpkin and holiday beers, and they were both very good. They had an IPA too. We also opted for one of the mixed drinks from their new holiday menu: How The Grinch Stole Elizabeth. The mixed drink was also nice and very festive. Our service was great and friendly, explaining some of the things about their process of opening, etc. Free popcorn was provided with the drinks, but you can also order takeout or a pizza from somewhere nearby. The taproom itself is fairly small and cozy with a bar and a few additional two topper tables. When we visited they had decorated for the holidays, and it was really cute. The large mural in the taproom is also well done featuring Pittsburgh's bridges and mills. We look forward to what Firewhistle Brewing has to offer in the future and returning with friends and family when we are in town.

Great Brewery with awesome people in the nice, walkable town of Elizabeth. Fantastic beers and good food business partnerships with the restaurant next door and visiting food trucks. Give this place a shot for a good brew!

Was in town for Stoogefest and saw the outdoor area from the highway and it looked intriguing. Had heard about it from the theater owners last year but didn't get there. Four of us stopped in for a couple drinks and took advantage of the free burgers out back. Beers were very good- Black and Gold was tasty but Engine 139 was even better. Friendly service and the growing crowd was greeted by staff like they were regulars.Cool place and even though I'm 40 miles away I intend to return.
