I came here recently for a business dinner in their downstairs banquet room. What a wonderful experience! When we arrived, we were greeted by friendly staff member, who showed us to the space. The seating and table were very comfortable, and the space itself is very private, with easy access to restrooms downstairs, making this a very practical place to host a banquet of this sort - 10 to 15 people. The beverage menu is excellent, and they have an exquisite assortment of craft cocktails, spirits, and non-alcoholic cocktail choices. Given that it was a work night, I had the non-alcoholic "This Is Fine" cocktail, which was delicious - it's based on Earl Grey, tea, bitters, spiced saline, and sherry vinegar syrup, presented in a smoked glass with a large square ice cube. It was wonderful. As you might imagine, the real star of the show is their menu we dined family style, which was an excellent way to sample many of their delicious dishes : the apple and beet salad, the superb, heirloom, carrots, the delicious mushroom, and gemelli pasta, the astounding confit pork, shank, and the mouth watering pork belly, meatloaf, were the selections of the night.Honestly, I would have a very hard time picking just one dish after trying all of these delicious ones family style. Each of them was flavorful and well prepared, although I tend to prefer my pasta a little less "al dente" than most people. I'm sure that had. I've been ordering this for just myself, establishment would have been very accommodating, since their staff are so friendly and accommodating.I don't usually venture to the North Shore often, but this place has changed my mind, and I shall be bringing my family here very soon to enjoy their hospitality and food once more. Will definitely be back!!!

My first visit was a good experience. The crab cake was worth it. Very minimal with a high quality of protein. The dish was something I would make at home with the same ingredients. I liked the squash/shallot pickle, however, it felt a bit rushed. I make a lot of pickled items and I think they are better after a day or so.The rabbit pot pie was great, although very British with lots of peas. The one piece of potato made me smile. The cornbread was quite dry but the butter made it more enjoyable with the salt and sugar sprinkle. The seating is sparse. It's more suited for a 4 top than a 2 top unless you are at the bar where you can look at the chefs as they cook. We came on a walk in and we were seated in the middle of the room. We asked for a different table and it was fine. This neighborhood is changing and I will definitely return. I hope that this business will succeed.

I'd rate Fig & Ash four and a half stars. We walked in as soon as they opened for dinner on Saturday at 5 pm and were able to grab a couple of the eight bar seats available for walk-ins. Reservations are recommended.Full bar that focuses on craft cocktails. They have four craft beers on draft. Big selection of whiskeys with some great picks; however, the whiskeys are pricey with some pours going for 50% and more of full bottle costs. The bartenders were very knowledgeable and engaging. I shared a milky mezcal cocktail with my wife. It was smokey and fit in perfectly for the fall. For food, we started with roasted carrots and the brussel sprouts. The carrots had a firm yet tender texture. They were served over ricotta adding a creaminess to the dish. The brussel sprouts were served with blue cheese and two different sauces. They came out perfectly crispy with a nice char. The blue cheese wasn't too pronounced in the dish which I appreciated. The highlight of the dish were the two sauces. One was a curry aioli and the other was a cherry gastrique. Together, they formed a sweet and Smokey balance reminiscent of a high quality BBQ sauce. For dessert, we shared the cast iron brownie. Crispy on the outside with a very moist interior. Pretty balanced on the spectrum from cakey to fudgy.Pacing of the food was nice. The kitchen was surrounded in glass, so you could see the chefs in action. There were two single occupancy restrooms; the one I used was handicap accessible.

Wow! What a place. I've been dying to come here for some time now and so glad I finally made reservations and went. From the moment you sat down the start was super friendly and attentive (literally never let me water glass go below half empty lol). The cocktails were delicious, super well balanced. My friend had the mocktail and said it was great too! We decided to split a few dishes and I'm happy we did so I could try a bunch of their plates. We started off with the heirloom carrots, one of their staples and that was great. The whipped ricotta was delicious. The bone marrow mid course place was huge and super filling. Super tasty with the bacon and onion jam and shishito peppers. The gemelli made with local mushrooms, cream sauce and a poached egg was a showstopper. All these dishes were amazing and I'm already planning my next trip back.

Fig & Ash will always be a top 3 restaurant in pittsburgh for me! The ambiance, the service, the quality of food and presentation. The menu did lack a chicken dish but I am a sucker for a plate full of mushrooms!I appreciate their dedication to serving local when and where possible and rotate their menu with the seasons. I chose fig and ash for my birthday dinner this year and my husband already can't wait to return.

Got a last minute reservation here as it was right down the street from our Airbnb. Staff was attentive and we had great seats at the counter, love the open kitchen. Food was fantastic, loved the pot pie and meatloaf.

Really nice, comfortable space with a nice range of good food options. The staff were all fantastic, and the food was well presented. Most of the vegetable-centric options were in the small plates section of the menu, but that worked for me. Just note that the small plates aren't actually all that small: I ordered two, and probably only needed one. My biggest complaint was the general noise level: it's a relatively small place packed with people, so it was somewhat difficult to engage in conversation. My voice was pretty scratchy by the end of the night. In terms of the food, I appreciated the number of vegetable-centric dishes. The ancient grain salad was exactly what I wanted it to be, with a reasonable portion and several different layers of flavor and texture. The roasted cauliflower dish was only very lightly roasted, which was fine but it felt like a more significant roast would have enhanced the experience. A slightly heavier hand with the spiced yogurt and chimicurri could have helped as well. Still a great place, but a step back from life-changing experience. The beverage list was also nice, with several different local beers representing a few different styles. It wasn't exactly a long beer list, but I'm all for a smaller number of fresher kegs, if that what makes sense for the restaurant.

My time here was AWFUL! When I first arrived at this so-called "fine" establishment, a young child, about 6 years old, started to rub my inner thigh uncontrollably. Then, the apparent MOTHER of this young gentleman decided to yell at ME! For her child attempting to massage me! Once that situation was figured out, the waiter called me a creep and nearly REFUSED to serve me! I had to get a new waiter who would believe me, and when I got the food, it had a RAT in it. Not a piece of a rat, an ENTIRE rat in the food! When I told the manager about this, he said that's what CREEPS deserve to eat!!!! So, me and my friend, Anita Hanjob, decided we were DONE with this TERRIBLE, FOUL, DISGUSTING ESTABLISHMENT. DO. NOT. EAT. HERE.

I attended a work dinner here and was sadly underwhelmed. The staff were very attentive, so five stars for service. The vibe was also ok except for the occasional fruit fly buzzing our table and the intermittent smell of the dishwasher doing its thing wafting through the dining area. I asked the waitstaff about vegan options and they provided me with a menu that identified dishes that could be made vegan by redacting the meat, dairy, and egg components. We had the Brussels sprouts as an appetizer (crème on the side) which were tasty. The carrots were also ordered and looked good on their bed of ricotta--they got high marks from my colleagues. I ordered a mushroom pasta dish sans the meat and egg parts and what I received was a bowl of pasta with a few tomatoes and spinach leaves and no mushrooms. It was salty and disappointing. My colleague ordered the same dish in its original form and it had copious shrooms plus the meat and egg parts. He shared that it was overly rich and buttery. Members of the staff apologized about there not being any shrooms in my shrooms pasta dish, explaining that they prepare the ingredients ahead of time and the mushrooms are coated in butter (ironic). They didn't redact the shrooms on the menu --I would not have ordered it if they had. The other folks weren't impressed with their entrees either: the meatloaf and potatoes were dry and the stuffed Branzini was somehow sweet instead of savory. Overall, not a great visit. They would do well to include more plant-based options on the main menu or at least be prepared for impromptu dietary requests. To end on a high note, I appreciated their gender inclusive bathrooms!

We came here for the first time for a date night. We've been wanting to try this place for a while and finally got to! The ambiance is wonderful! The service was attentive and quick but not too fast that we felt rushed. We ordered some cocktails and they were fabulous and creative! We ordered the mushroomBruschetta and cauliflower with ramp Chimichurri. Both were excellent and fantastic starters to share. For our mains we ordered the meatloaf and lamb. Both dishes were delicious but the meatloaf was truly a standout! We finished off dinner with the brownie and ice cream. The brownie was amazing! Warm and perfectly gooey. The best way to end off a date night! We will definitely be back and hope to bring some friends and family!
