My coworker and I have been in town for three days. We ate lunch at Em's yesterday and again today. Our lunches have been the best meals we've had this trip. Late night tonight so we stopped and got subs to take back to the hotel with us. They were ready quickly, served by friendly people, and, like our lunch sandwiches, delicious. We also feel better supporting a small business versus Sheetz, McDonalds, some other big place. Added bonus: Wise chips and delicious, freshly prepared salads in to-go containers. I rank the Em's in terms of Goucher being #1; Scalp, #2; downtown, never again.

Pre ordered sub. Asked for hot peppers on side.Walk in a they look at you like you what are you doing! Not a word said. Minutes later A very nice lady comes thru door and asks can I help. And she did. The sub had SWEET peppers on it!So one half can't be eaten. Seeds everywhere. Pulled out the tomatoes, pepper seeds everywhere! It's too bad people can't read an order correctly and make it the way you ask.Expensive waste.

First time I visited I got my food in under ten minutes. I visited the one on main Street in Johnstown. Food cost me under ten dollars for a 32 once Gatorade and a wrap. The wrap I got was a grilled chicken with no onion. It came with shredded cheese, lettuce, and bacon. Best part about the wrap was that it was warm. Not crispy and not overstuffed so it would probably be just as easy to eat on the road as it was in the dining room.

There would be NO REASON to get subs from Em's or Clark's if Brownie's Bar was still around. Those subs were legendary...that being said Em's makes good subs. Just slightly better than Clark's in my opinion.DON'T EVEN talk about Subway. This is a traditional Johnstown sub, Subway is trash. These subs are super cheap considering their length.I can't wait for fund-raising season, I'll take a couple of those Em's coupons thanks!

I was an Em's newb, so my first experience was underwelming. I got a 6" club. No idea what to ask for. It can with lettuce and tomato and that is all. Good, not bad, just not full of flavor. So 2nd time I got a steak and cheese w/ ltop and mayo... It was good.. I wish I has told them to put everything they have on it. :) Moral of the story is you have to know what to ask for. The people there are super friendly, I may go back just to talk to the workers!

Gyros are terrible! They are small no flavor and horrible. Chili is 6.29 for a quart. It was very runny and watery hardly anything in it and not even filled to the top. The workers were inappropriate joking about crack. We will never eat from here again!

Not sure why others didn't rate Em's higher! I grew up on Tony's subs, but when back in Johnstown recently to visit my aunt in the hospital, my other aunt, who is a Johnstown native, picked up some Em's subs for us. Love the baked ham, and the bread is mmmm-good! The potato salad was good too, and my aunt raves about the chicken soup (which they were out of that day). Still, I look forward to the day I can get back to Tony's....

These are the best subs ever! Amazing homemade bread and the meat has always been evenly distributed!

I don't usually right reviews, but this has to be the worst sub shop I have ever eaten at. I have eaten here three times in the two years I have lived here. Most of the people I work with hate this place, but one individual, for some unknown, reason is obsessed. Every now and then he will talk the rest of us into trying it again, and we always regret it. The first time I went there I ordered an Italian. I actually received an Italian, but the bread was dryer and harder than a crouton. I could have easily have bludgeoned someone to death with that sub. The next time I went I ordered an Italian and received lettuce and a slice of tomato between two rock hard pieces of bread. The last time I went, and it will be the last time. I ordered an Italian and received some type of poorly executed meatball sub. In conclusion, don't wast you time or your money here.

Not sure why some of my friends rave about the subs here. The meat is sliced too thick and had a hard time staying in the roll. Thinner sliced meat would make it tasty. Also, ditch the shredded cheddar cheese. Should have driven a little further to Clark's.
