This Embassy Suites by Hilton is located in the top floors of the Henry W. Oliver building in downtown Pittsburgh. This hotel is within walking distance of the subway and many restaurants and other businesses. Its amenities include free buffet breakfast and evening drinks, Ollie's Gastropub, room service, fitness center, indoor swimming pool, business center and meeting rooms, pet-friendly rooms for a fee, valet parking for $45 per night, etcetera. My husband and I stayed here for two weekend nights in the winter. The total price was a few hundred dollars. We did not want to pay for a valet employee to park our vehicle in a public garage, so we parked at a garage ourselves. The employees at the front desk promptly and courteously did our check-in and check-out. We joined the free Hilton Honors program to get free WiFi.Our room was nicely decorated, clean, quiet, and comfortable. I noticed that our bathroom had some peeling wallpaper, a light that did not turn on, and a gap near the shower door that let water out. Otherwise, our room was in excellent condition. We had no problems with the bed, couch, television, and mini kitchen. We ate the free buffet breakfast one time, and we enjoyed the omelets, bacon, cereals, oatmeals, pastries, fruits, yogurts, and more.

I spent 3 nights at the Pittsburgh Embassy Suites. I chose it based on a positive experience at the ES in Boulder. This one was terrible. We arrived at 6 pm on a weeknight and there was no one to indicate how to find the registration or lobby, the elevators were mostly out of order, and when we reached registration there was literally no one there. We waited 15 min then gave up and used the digital key. That was ok til the next day when that key failed to work. Again, no one was at the Reg desk. We waited 10 min for someone to appear. The next day, rinse and repeat as the physical key failed to work and again no one was at the desk. The hotel was like a ghost town even though there were plenty of guests- staff were MIA. The buffer area was dirty and there was trash all over the hallways- big heaps of bags of trash on a Saturday night! This was an inexplicable experience, especially given the price tag. We also had dirty sheets on night 1 and noisy neighbors. For almost $800?? Never again.

I actually really enjoyed staying at the Embassy Suites here in downtown Pittsburgh. This would've been a five-star experience had there been hot water available! Yeah, ya kinda, really, gotta have hot water for a shower in the winter! Embassy Suites in downtown Pittsburgh is in the old Henry Oliver building, which was built in 1910 as an office building of Henry Oliver's steel and coal operations. It's registered as a historic landmark and you can very much tell of its past time, given the structure and design of the building. You can even see and walk in the old vault on the lobby level. On the 25th floor is where the concierge, reception and breakfast service, gym and a bar and restaurant are located. The free reception for guests was nice, with free wine, beer and well drinks, with cheeses, hummus and nuts. The breakfast service was good, too, with the omelet station and hot food items such as eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, in addition to pastries, fruit yogurt, cereal, etc. The hotel room was very nice. I loved how comfortable the bed was; it was hard to wake up, especially with the blackout drapes. Our room had a nice view of the city and there was a separate room for the living room space with a fridge, coffee maker, wet bar, and there were TVs in the living room space and bedroom. Again, the hotel had everything I needed except for the hot water, especially during the winter. When asked about this with the staff, they said the entire building had this issue, so there wasn't anything that could be done about this. A con of being in a historic building, I guess. Besides the lack of hot water for showering, this is a good stay in downtown Pittsburgh. The location is awesome as it's walking distance to many restaurants and bars, and the amenities and comfortable space here was great.

Solid hotel, fantastic service, perhaps overpriced. I did not expect a TON of families and kids to be in this high rise downtown hotel but apparently baseball seasons REALLY attracts families who will pay. Be warned. This is a strange hotel- you go into the building but have to go to the middle area and use the elevators on the LEFT to actually get to check in. The gym was serviceable and well stocked. The pool seemed warm and well appointed as well- unfortunately said kids took over all day and night on Friday and the pool was closed the rest of the weekend to shock and clean it up. Some floors didn't get cleaned for two days (candy bits dropped and left), it was impossible to get a menu or bar service with any timeliness. The room was very well laid out for a comfy stay- but some of the lights didn't work and our view was....directly into other peoples rooms 30 feet across. The breakfast was plentiful but not great quality and the lines for omelets and drinks are very long. Pittsburgh doesn't have much downtown so you'll be walking at least a few blocks to get anywhere. The parking lot across the street is fine but VERY CROWDED, take your time! Again I will say except for the bar, the place was very well serviced. The breakfast tables were cleaned quickly (leave a tip!), the check in was easy and questions answered well, and we felt generally things were well kept up.

If in Pittsburgh, stay here! When the taxi dropped me off, it was impossible not to look up and admire the absolutely stunning building. I walked through the revolving door, and a very polite hotel staff member let me know that check in was on the 25th floor. The 25th floor? Fancy! The front desk associates were extremely friendly and my room on the 22nd floor was cozy, comfortable, and quiet. Oh, and I failed to mention the most important part about 25. FOOD AND DRINK!The top floor has a bar with a complimentary two drink happy hour from 5:30pm to 7:30pm as well as a free, all you can eat, made to order breakfast buffet every morning. Great food and great drinks are even greater when they cost nothing, and not a soul can argue that.In summary, if I ever find myself in Pittsburgh again, this is where I'm hanging my hat.Cheers.

Beautiful reclaimed building turned hotel! View from my high floor room shows the beautiful cathedral steeple next to the hotel and many bridges and the city's landscape!Hotel itself, particularly my room was beautiful but what is it with lukewarm shower, ugh, it was snowing outside a hot shower would have been soothing after a few hops on bars... Apparently, because of old age, building has issues with hot water. High floors are better as they are closer to the boiler room which I was told was on the top of the building. It makes sense now why the lobby is literally on the 25th floor!Probably will stay here again but not during colder months! Obw, breakfast buffet could be prepared better. Chef taking order for omelet was a bit moody.. bartender at evening reception on first night(Daniel) was what you'd wished in one-friendly and generous! Can't help but laugh that the breakfast chef is exactly the opposite! Thus, it was a one off breakfast on our 3-day stay.

DISGUSTED & DISAPPOINTED thank you to all who worked on 11/30 and 12/4/24 for leaving a disabled person stranded in 22 degree weather. You and your staff are horrific!

3.5 stars. If you are driving, I found it easier to come down Grant Street and then turn on to 6th Ave to turn left onto Smithfield so that you can more easily access the valet zone. ProsBIG and spacious. I'm Hilton Honors Silver, they offered both water and snack at check in. Walking distance to many good restaurants Valets do a good jobThere is a safe in the roomThere are good breakfast places within walking distance ConsNo on site parking Rooms could use better cleaning. Lots of dust in the corners. No alarm clock in the room.Breakfast was terrible the one day we tried to eat at the hotel. Waited in line almost 30min to get omelette made. Waffles were brittle and tasted like cardboard. Hopefully they just had a bad day. Update 4/10, breakfast on a weekday was much better. Less people. So chalking up prior comment to that, but leaving comment cause it's what happened. Lots of homeless in nearby areas. Not sure I would feel super safe at night walking around by myself. They never bothered us during the day.

OK place to stay. Led me to believe that since was a Hilton it would have better amenities, but it was ok for what we paid.

I have stayed at Embassy's all over as they are usually my favorite. Usually very clean, the hospitality is always top tier and it's always a great experience. ThisPittsburgh location-the staff wasn't friendly at all, the valet department was an absolute MESS, no direction at all on where to go or what to do upon arrival. My husband had to walk up and ask them what we are supposed to do, we then asked if there is a bellhop since the lobby is on the 25th floor and we had two small children with us and his response was "I think so, but your better off carrying your own bags", we waited 40 minutes for our car to arrive making us late for the event we were in the city for. Our room was dirty, there was men's beard shavings in the bathroom sink, garbage in between the couch and window, a random white pill in the bed frame (I attached a photo). The girl who checked us was sick with a cold, very unfriendly and told us evening reception was at 5, we went down at 5 and someone else told us 530 which ended up being some cheese and trail mix very disappointing. There were no signs for breakfast the next morning telling you where to go for the made to order food or drinks. The staff was nasty and complaining about other staff members, didn't greet a SINGLE customer and the pool was ice cold. VERY disappointed with our visit this time and unfortunately will not be back to this location. I'm giving the room 3 stars only because the view was awesome and the guy making omelets was extremely nice and friendly and breakfast was decent
