This elks location makes me proud to be a Northsider. Every Pittsburgh resident should experience a banjo night on Wednesdays and a Friday fish fry during March! Regarding the fish fry, it's the best in town, so you can expect to wait in line outside for a while. But I can assure you the wait is worth it! The line moves along pretty quickly and once you're inside you place your order and take a number for your table. The food is delicious and made fresh in-house, from the hand-battered fish to the Mac and cheese. Bread is from breadworks. Live entertainment from the Pittsburgh banjo club is present during the fish fry and of course they're the main event on Wednesdays, which I highly recommend to anyone. Other than these 2 staple events the club is open to members only with the exception of a few other public events throughout the year. I plan to join as a member soon so I can enjoy it more regularly, including the awesome bowling alley upstairs!

The Elks hosts one of the best Lenten fish fry's on the area. It gets busy so be prepared. They open a little later than most but they do get packed. You can also call in for your go orders. Parking is street parking which usually isn't an issue.

Aside from the infamous bango night it's a great place to come with friends for a few beers. Have also been for other events such as birthday parties, etc. I'm not a member but if I lived on the North Side I'd definitely join. Located in historic Deutschtown this private establishment has served the community for decades.Older but super clean, friendly staff and members. Amazingly cheap prices.

Banjo night at the Elks Club in the Northside embodies a true, old school Pittsburgh experience. It's my favorite place to take anyone who's visiting. There's also a wonderful mix of older and younger generations there who often socialize with one another. Each Wednesday night, banjo night serves as an open rehearsal for the Pittsburgh Banjo Club, but you would think they're putting on a show just for you. It's usually very crowded by the time it starts at 8 p.m., so if you want a seat, your best bet is to make a reservation.Call (412) 321-1834 by Tuesday at 5 p.m. to save a spot.In addition to the fun, quirky environment, there is a full bar and some food options, and everything is very reasonably priced. I believe a pitcher of Yuengling costs $8?It is cash only. There is an ATM on the premises for a $1.95 surcharge if you forget.

The Banjo Club has been in residency here for many years every Wednesday night. It's an open rehearsal and sing along, with no cover charge. On first and third Thursday nights you can hear the Jazz Conspiracy, a 15 piece big band, a free swing lesson and lots of swing dancing, all for a $7 cover. It's an authentic big band sound and a fairly nice dance floor, you really can't lose. . Otherwise the Elks is a private club, you would need to be a member to get inside. There's a beautiful retro appeal to the club, with a long bar and a hard working barkeep. The drinks are inexpensive, especially if you get the special ($2 Dos Equis draft, for example). If you are looking for faded glory and straightforward this is definitely the place to find it.

I was the last person in the world who thought I would ever attend an event like Banjo Night. It's actually the banjo club's rehearsal time, but you would never know. You can sing along, polka, or just hang. Apparently, it's every Wednesday night from 8-10:30! You need to have a reservation or get there early, and this place gets packed! There are long communal tables as well as a bar. They have standard bar appetizers for under $5, craft beers for less than $5, and a food special. Our particular Wednesday, it was $2 tacos. Banjo night is SO CHEAP. The fried Mozzarella sticks ($3.50) were good, but I did not care for the Jalepeno Poppers ($3.50). We also saw a bunch of nice craft beers for $3.50.The banjo club is mostly an older crowd with a few younger people tossed in. It is an experience, and it was super fun.

Come on Wednesday night for cheap beers and an all-night banjo performance. It's not the typical 'party atmosphere' you'll find in most other bars, but rather it is a civilized break from the norm.Yenglings are $2, and an assortment of craft beers are on special as well.Polka dancing & such ensues.Definitely recommend!Disclaimer - I think this may be a private club and only open to the public on Wednesday...

It was incredibly frustrating to plan a date where my boyfriend and I could enjoy the Banjo Club only to drive an hour to not be let in. After reviewing the website and making a table reservation, I was never made aware until we got there that you must be 21 to enter. Since my boyfriend is not 21 yet we had to leave and were pretty sad that we didn't get to stay for what we came out here for. Please just put the age requirement on the website

One of the best fish fries in town! I've gone here several times in the last few years for Lenten fish fry and it's always good. Long wait but that's because it's so good.
