A very nice little Mexican restaurant right in central Ligonier. The space was decorated with a some amount of kitch, which give it a lot of character. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the food was all very good. Most of the items on the menu were standard items that you would find at any Mexican restaurant in Pennsylvania, presented in much the same way you would expect (i.e., with rice, refried beans, lettuce, etc.). Some items on the menu were a little less typical (e.g., papas con huevo). Everything was very nicely presented, and the vegetables were all very fresh and crisp. All told, this was a nice low-key place to grab some good food without too much fanfare.

On our last day in the area, we decided to have lunch at El Vaquero before heading home. We got the Chorizo con Huevo which was a Mexican sausage sauteed with onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, and three eggs. It was also served with rice and beans and tortillas. This dish was actually quite good and I wished I had order this. I've never seen a dish like this made in any of the Mexican restaurants in my area. The sausage was like ground and mixed with the eggs. It had a nice flavor.I got the chicken quesadilla which didn't seem to have enough cheese. There was little flavor in the chicken. It tasted like shredded plain white meat without any seasoning. It was edible but definitely lacking flavor. Great service.

I've been here twice. Not sure if there was a new cook the second time. We are from Cali so we had hopes for this place. We were not fans at all. We ordered a variety of things we are very familiar with considering we are a Hispanic family from Cali. The rice was NOT Spanish rice, the enchiladas were soggy and very little sauce of any. I'm not sure if they are catering to the local demographic but this was not what I had on our first visit.

Stopped in for lunch after hiking this morning. They had a Cowboy Bean Soup listed as a special so I tried it. Delicious, and felt very healthy with several varieties of beans plus chunks of tomato, celery and carrots all in a savory broth. They served it with a huge chunk of cornbread which was moist and topped with melted cheese. Mmm!My daughter had the Watermelon Water which was especially refreshing after our hike. She also chose a chicken nacho as her lunch. It was huge! I guess it's an appetizer meant to share. She managed to eat half and took home the rest for later.Always great authentic food and pleasant service here. So nice to have good Mexican food close to home!

A 5 star Mexican restaurant in Ligonier? I had my doubts, but believe the reviews. We loved this place. Great food. Fair prices. When is the last time you saw restaurant staff jogging through the building to get food out? I've never seen a restaurant work this hard to succeed. We live in a city, and we can't get Mexican food this good. We got blind-sided by the lack of a liquor license. It's a tragedy not to have a margarita or a Mexican beer with this meal, but worth it anyway. Go. You won't regret it.

A friend and I were on our way from a Pittsburgh down to Cumberland and took the back roads to Ligonier. Admittedly we were first drawn in by the reviews from locals, but were really pleasantly surprised by the quality. My friend had a delicious taco salad, I had the carhe asada. It was fast service - the meat was perfectly cooked and spiced. More then anything though I was really impressed with the decor - handmade table cloths from Mexico were so beautiful I took one home.

Hands down the best Mexican food in the area. Authentic, fresh, not too spicy. I love the Hibiscus water, fish tacos, homemade tortillas. I go there at least once a week. Also, the owners are a wonderful family who I enjoy seeing every time. Cute toys and gifts too!

Just found this place today and stopped for lunch. Had to give five stars as there is no option for six! Everything was terrific! Food was really good and portions were large. Good service and prices were good too. Looking forward to going back.

This is literally the best taco place I've been to. Visiting from Florida we are usually disappointed in the Mexican options in western PA but this place is amazing! They were also super accommodating of our dietary needs in the party...gluten free and vegan options! So kind and a beautiful spot right on the square! Will come back every time!
