It's 515 on a cold, but sunny, Friday. The parking lot is mostly empty which gave me false pause. I go inside, ten minutes before my food is supposed to be done. I'm immediately greeted and told it will be just another minute. While I'm waiting there is a steady stream of takeout orders. Still no dine-in customers but at least four takeout while I'm there. My food comes out within five minutes, and I'm on my way to eat at home.Food really hit the spot. Tasted fresh and sushi was well made. Kimchi was good but could've been a bit spicier. The bag was packed with chopsticks and soy sauce and all the things we'd need if we were eating on the go. We'll be back.

I always drive past this spot on McKnight and was curious. Getting any form of Asian food in Pittsburgh is a risk. From frequent trips to Hawaii and growing up south outside of NYC, I've been around my fair share of Asian cuisine. Safe to say Pittsburgh has yet to nail itThis review is only me being super critical because of how much amazing Asian food I've had. I got the Miso Ramen because I feel like that's the safest best, for takeout. Now the flavor in the broths was there but the noodles itself def were not homemade. The meat was very very minuscule. The egg was cooked perfectly. If this ramen was let's say $14 then ya I'd give it a higher ranked but that's not a $18 bowl of ramenInside was very nice and the lady who helped me was sweet. I would go back and sit down to try something else

I lived in Japan for 23 years so I have a lot of experience with Japanese food. This is the real deal. It is authentic and well-made. My husband ordered the tonkatsu and I ordered the tempura. We got a side of miso soup. The soup was identical to what I was served in Japan and my husband said that the katsu was the best he'd had in the U.S. The breading was crisp and not to heavy or oily. The chicken was moist. My tempura was beautifully done with two large, meaty pieces of shrimp which were perfectly cooking. The vegetables were broccoli, eggplant, kabocha, and sweet potato. All were cooked appropriately - not too mushy nor too hard. I especially like the kabocha and sweet potato and could eat a lot more of them. The breading was pefect and the side sauces were a nice compliment. If they keep up this level of quality, I will definitely continue going to Eiwa.

A hot bowl of ramen is exactly what I needed on such a frigid day. Great menu with a nice variety of dishes. I obviously decided on a bowl of ramen which definitely hit the spot. I was pleased with the balance of noodle to broth. The strawberry boba was just the right sweetness. Overall service was great, very friendly and pleasant and checking in at just the right times.

This little place is a great find. The food is super flavorful! We were craving ramen and decided to check this out. It's not a huge place, but we were happy to find there was no wait when we got there. We loved the fast service and the quality of the food. Every single thing we got was tasty. We will definitely be back!

Months ago, Eiwa Japanese Ramen Bar *expanded their menu* to include additional flavors of ramens and other foods such as sushi, donburi, rice bowls, across-Asia foods such as General Tso's chicken and kimchi fried rice, etcetera. They even offer milk and fruit teas.My husband and I have been a takeout customer of Eiwa a few times and a delivery customer twice, and we have eaten lunch inside the restaurant once. For our visits, the cook quickly cooked our foods, and the hostess and waiter very promptly and courteously served us.Here are my reviews for our foods:Crab cheese wonton - 4.5 stars - The wonton wrappers were crispy, and they were filled with cream cheese and some crab meat and seasonings. These wontons tasted similar to other restaurants' wontons.Miso soup - 4.5 stars - My husband ate this miso soup, and he described it as "good."Vegetable spring rolls - 4.5 stars - These spring rolls were a little oily but tasted very good.Chicken egg rolls - 4 stars - My husband ate these egg rolls, and he seemed to enjoy them.Pork gyoza - 4.5 stars - This appetizer consisted of six pieces of potstickers that were filled with a good amount of ground pork and some vegetables. On the side was a spicy sauce.Bao buns - 4.5 stars - I ordered the spiced beef, and I liked it. Other available flavors include chicken and pork. Shrimp tempura platter with kabocha squash and sweet potato - 4.5 stars - The shrimps, squash, and sweet potatoes were very fresh, and their tempura batter was crispy.Okonomiyaki - 4.5 stars - Several flavorful pancakes contained seafood and zucchini, and they were topped with sauce, mayonnaise, and bonito flakes.Chicken Katsudon - 5 stars - The chicken meat was large and juicy, and its panko breading was crispy.Tonkotsu ramen - 5 stars - My husband has repeatedly ordered this flavor of ramen. This ramen contained pork belly, noodles, spinach, mushroom, seaweed, bamboo shoots, and egg. My husband chose to purchase extra noodles. He said that this ramen tasted "really good", "delicious," and like a "higher quality."Spicy miso ramen - 4.5 stars - I had asked for some spice, but this ramen tasted a little milder than I had expected. I assume that the cook can make it spicier for other people. Ingredients were pork, bean sprouts, seaweed, corn, scallion, and egg, and I liked the flavors.Vegetarian ramen - 5 stars - This ramen was very flavorful, despite not containing meats and being made at my preferred "not spicy" level.Creamy curry vegetable soup - 4.5 stars - This curry soup was moderately spicy and contained a small amount of vegetables.Shoyu ramen - 4.5 stars - My husband ate this ramen two times. He liked the flavors. He described the first bowl as "oily" but said that the second bowl was better.Niku udon - 5 stars - The udon noodles were nicely chewy. The broth, beef, and onion were flavorful.Tan-tan ramen - 5 stars - This ramen soup was moderately spicy, and it was filled with perfectly cooked noodles, ground chicken, and vegetables.Thai curry ramen - 4 stars - This ramen was moderately spicy and had good noodles and vegetables.Sesame chicken - 4.5 stars - Eiwa expanded their menu to include some other types of Asian cuisines, so I tried this sesame chicken. The chunks of chicken were large, and they had juicy meat and a crispy breading that was covered in a flavorful sauce. On the side was white rice that was perfectly steamed.General Tso's chicken - 4.5 stars (average of my 4 stars and my husband's 5 stars) - This General Tso's did NOT taste spicy at all. My husband who strongly dislikes spices described this chicken as "delicious."Salmon-avocado sushi roll - 5 stars - I feel so thankful that Eiwa added sushi to their menu! This sushi roll contained very fresh ingredients and tasted very good.PGH roll - 4.5 stars - This maki roll contained shrimp, and I liked the flavors.Tuna-avocado roll - 4.5 stars - My husband ate this maki roll, and he seemed to enjoy it.Spicy tuna roll - 4.5 stars - This tuna sushi was fresh and moderately spicy. Rainbow roll - 4.5 stars - A California roll was topped with tuna, salmon, yellowtail, and cooked shrimp. It tasted slightly spicy.Mango boba milk - 5 stars - This bubble tea was a large size and tasted delicious. My husband has ordered it multiple times and really likes it.Strawberry boba milk - 5 stars - I enjoyed the strawberry flavor of this beverage, and I thought that the amount of boba was perfect.

Miso ramen was delicious, very flavorful. The tonkotsu ramen was good but preferred the miso. Pretty and clean place. Service was great, friendly waiter. Lots of parking. I have had a hard time finding good ramen in Pittsburgh and this is probably one of the best ones I have found. It is in the outskirts of Pittsburgh but I do think it is worth the trip. I recommend to make the trip here!

The staff here is very welcoming. Our server was very friendly -- she made us feel very valued as guests and customers. She knew the menu, and seemed happy to help us choose something we'd like. She was also attentive without making us feel pressured to eat quickly. The interior of the restaurant is very fresh and open -- It felt clean without being uncomfortably sterile. The food was fantastic. We all enjoyed our dishes. The prices were reasonable and the portions were generous.I recommend Eiwa, especially for ramen and sushi!

Really friendly and quick service - we were there for lunch on a Sunday. We got Katsu Bao bun (just ok), Tonkotsu Ramen (clean broth but not as flavorful as I have known Tonkotsu to be) and Katsu meal, which was delicious! The meat had the right balance of panko seasoning which made the exterior crunchy and flavorful. If I come back, I'll have the Katsu meal again. (Unfortunately no picture of the Katsu meal)
