We stumbled upon Strange Roots Experimental Ales in New Kensington by complete surprise, not even knowing it was there. The moment we walked in, we were hit by the most incredible aroma--it immediately made us think, What is this, and how do we get some?!In the back of the brewery is Common Oven Pizza, which was an unexpected delight. Even though pizza is my favorite meal and I could eat it every day, I wasn't in the mood for it at the moment, so we decided to try their meatballs instead. Ordering was super convenient--you can do it in person or straight from your phone. Our server brought out the meatballs, along with plates and fresh bread for the sauce. Let me tell you, these meatballs were next-level amazing. The sauce was so good we couldn't resist soaking up every drop with the bread. It was pure bliss. The setup is perfect--Common Oven Pizza is nestled right at the back of the brewery, making it an easy and seamless experience. I highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area. Whether you're there for the beer or the food, this place is an absolute gem!

A hidden gem in the heart of new ken! My friend and I ventured here one Sunday and were blown away. I got the calzone and she got the hot honey pie. The food was PHENOMENAL and the service, from the brewery it's located inside to the pizza oven itself, everyone was so kind. Not to everything is baked in house daily. Do yourself a favor and grab one of their chocolate chip cookies too

Just picked up a pie from here tonight. Very good. Definitely the best pizza in a 6-7 mile radius from Cheswick, PA. I like the Pecorino Romano sprinkled on top. Nice firm underside. The firmness allowed me to eat a slice in the car while driving home. I wasn't sure about going to New Kensington to pick it up considering the city's more recent economic downturn however, it is true that the city is on the rise nowadays and going there was fine. There are new businesses there now and I hope the city continues to grow. Great pie. Highly recommend!

The very best pizza I've had in Pittsburgh over 5 years of living here! My fiancé and I had the hot honey pie and it was incredible. We will definitely be making the trip back here. They have a great thing going with being a short hallway away from a solid brewery tap room as well! Brought the food over to our table to have with our beer. Also didn't wait long.

The pizza is so good. I found this when it was a food truck. I'm sad he is no longer right down the road but so glad he found a permanent space. Gavin is so nice and you can tell he really enjoys what he is doing!

Hand-crafted, wood-fired, fresh ingredients, classic recipes. Fresh mozzarella, arugala, real garlic (not that garlic-in-a-jar stuff), fresh basil, good red sauce, good white pizza, nice calzone. So far I've had the "Hot Honey" pizza, the "Rabe and Sausage" Pizza and there are plenty more to try. The "Pizza Place Salad" is also very good and definitely not typical! It's great to see a pizza place that uses brocolli rabe and makes a good New York inspired but unique pizza experience that should not be missed!Dine in at the attached Strange Roots Experimental Ales bar, or take-out!Prices are straightforward and pizzas can be customized.

I absolutely love Common Oven and so does my husband. Anytime we can sneak off to eat the delicious fare that they put together we do. From the absolutely amazing grilled cheese with those tomatoes omgerrrsh don't get me started about the roasted tomatoes!! Then the pizza, where to begin. Wood fired perfect every time. House made mozzarella (which I was lucky enough to purchase a block of, best mozzarella I might have ever had). Do we even want to discuss the focaccia you can get fresh baked and the olive oil lemon cake. Ok clearly you can see the list of amazing food is long. When your there you can also grab a cold drink from Strange Roots. If you haven't been yet don't walk run and support this local business!!!

Great atmosphere & food. Our pizza took 30 mins instead of 15 bc it was "un-servable" the first time and they remade it, so the woman working there gave us 3 free cookies which were delicious. The pizza was amazing too. Definitely recommend!!!!!
