We came here as an option with better choices for my daughter's 13th birthday with ten of her friends. View was awesome. The restaurant is smaller with a more casual feel in comparison to the other restaurants in Mt. Washington. The service was top notch. Our server and corresponding staff was really good. The food was just ok. It worked out well for us, because my daughter and her friends were able to order things like chicken fingers, French onion soup, and burgers. I got Steak Tacos, which were just ok and left me feeling hungry still. The two best parts of the meal were my wife's pulled pork nachos and the nice piece of cake my daughter got on the house for her birthday.

The view. It's all about the view.Food was OK. A higher price point for lunch that I would usually spend, and the service was unbelievably slow. When we arrived in Pittsburg we decided to take the Duquesne incline up and have lunch on Mount Washington. Not much of a selection open in the afternoon (and not alot of restrooms either for travelers). We decided to eat at the Coal Hill Steakhouse which was conveniently located and looked fun. My partner had the Meatball Hoagie - ($17) - Beef Meat Balls with homemade marinara and mozzarella cheese. I had the Grandview Cheesesteak - ($19) - Shaved ribeye, sauteed onions, red peppers, and mushrooms with American Cheese on some delicious bread. We both had onion rings. Good serving sizes but everything was just OK, and the onion rings tasted a little burnt. Not sure if fresh oil was needed or if it was the batter. But hey, onion rings are always a treat.Service was so slow and they were so understaffed. I think our waitress and possibly one other was manning all customers on all three levels. The food was ok, just nothing incredible, especially for the lunch prices. I would pass on lunch again, but might try it for dinner with that view.

Fantastic view, so so service, and terrible food. Please stop buy, but go straight downstairs to the bar, have a cocktail or four, but don't order an appetizer or anything to eat. Go next-door for that.

We tried here a few years ago and loved it. On our return visit yesterday the steaks once again didn't disappoint. A man, I believe who was a manager, asked me about a complimentary dessert for my fiancée's birthday. They brought one out after dinner with a happy birthday written in sauce. That was very nice and I appreciate when places do something special like that. Our server was stale but efficient. My brother did order a salad that he didn't receive. (Saved us $16). The view itself is worth the trip! Another thanks to the chefs for their skills. A Caesar salad should be on this menu.

We celebrated Pitt graduation last weekend. We had a party of 13 on a Saturday evening. The table was ready on-time, the view was spectacular, the service was great and the food was excellent!!! Not inexpensive, but still a great value !

Was there for a company Christmas dinner. My daughter and I got the 1/2 prime rib, 1/2 fat rib eye, 5 shriveled up asparagus spears and you're kidding roasted potatoes. Glad I didn't pay for this. 1 server for 20 people, all ordering drinks with no help. Really?

The view was nice. My glass was dirty. My boyfriend went to the bar ti get me a new drink. I drank half and found a bar gnat in this one. Hopefully it was just a bad luck day for me! We didn't eat. Nothing on the menu jumped out at us. So we enjoyed the view a

I don't usually leave reviews after one visit but I'm just so blown away by something i saw on my check yesterday. My girlfriend ordered a Caesar salad ($14) and i ordered pasta Alfredo ($20). The salad was her meal so she added to shrimp on it and i added chicken to my Alfredo. The prices weren't listed on the menu for a reason. When i got the check, the price for 4 shrimp added onto the salad was 18 (!!!) dollars. I was almost in shock. The add on for the chicken to the pasta was 9 dollars. I find these prices so egregious for not a lot of shrimp and not a lot of chicken. It gets 3 stars because the food was still decent, not great and the service was pretty good. But 27 dollars in total to add a little bit of chicken and shrimp blew me away and is just way beyond ridiculous.

We wanted a Mt. Washington venue to celebrate our son's engagement. Our daughter was coming in from out of state and the proposal was taking at the point. We went to dinner ourselves on March 14th and loved the view and service was very good. We spoke with the hostess about making a reservations for 6 with a window table on the night of the engagement. She told us that with a little of 5 weeks notice it would not be a problem, unless someone booked the whole main dining room that evening. She noted why we were making the reservation. We called the week before to confirm. Unfortunately, we arrived to a different hostess who as soon as we said our last name, said they didn't have window seat for 6 but she would put us on the second floor by the railing and we would still have a view. We went upstairs only to look down and see many empty tables away from the window. We also saw a party of 2 at a window table set for 6. When I asked her if she could add a table of 2 to the empty table of 4 by the window, she replied "No, I can't do that, mam" - very terse. I politely told her why and when we made the reservation and what I was told when I made the reservation, she shrugged her shoulder and said we are extremely busy and walked away! Within 10 minutes, we had only been served water at this point, the party of 2 at the window finished and left and 5 minutes after that the 2 parties of 6 at window tables left, also. We were not asked if we could wait for one of the those tables when we arrived, which we would gladly have done nor were we asked to move to one of those table. One of the tables stayed empty for a while but one of the others were filled with another party of 2 and the other with a party of 3!! Our waiter, Brayden was wonderful but the rudeness we encountered with the hostess was unprofessional and uncalled for. We looked a condensed view of the city through the railing with the Pepsi machine to our right and the saloon doors entering the rest rooms banging throughout dinner. We had hoped that if the evening pleased everyone, we would speak with our son and future daughter-in-law about have the rehearsal dinner at Coal House Steakhouse. Needless to say, there was no discussion, we will go elsewhere. We will not be back to this restaurant for any reason.

Perfect spot to take out of town guests for an early dinner on Saturday evening. Best view of the three rivers and city from our table. We also took photos from the deck on the lower level by the bar. Food was great, especially the steaks and ribs! Parking lot directly across the street from the entrance was convenient.
