City Kitchen is a great option if you're not quite sure what you're in the mood for, as their menu is extensive and covers just about everything one could be craving. My guest and I opted for some comforting, warm carbs in the cold weather. She went for some ramen, and I chose the fettuccine alfredo with chicken. Her food was brought out before mine, and she finished it just as mine was brought to the table, so needless to say, it was full of flavor, warmth, and comforting goodness on a cold day. I, however, didn't love my alfredo. I found that the sauce didn't have the richness or flavor that one expects to find in an alfredo sauce. The chicken was very juicy, though. I put in a request for a refill and a to-go box (all orders are placed via web), but neither were ever brought to our table so the service left something to be desired. Overall, I will continue to go back to City Kitchen. Though this time may not have been our best experience, the menu offerings change frequently enough that it is worth giving it more chances to shine.

4.5 stars. City Kitchen consists of four restaurants--Shaka (Hawaiian foods), SOMI (Asian foods), Elevate (American foods), and Charred (gourmet burgers)--plus a full bar and sometimes an additional restaurant that briefly pops up. Customers may purchase foods and beverages from one or more restaurants in one order. For years, I have eaten meals at City Kitchen, and I have ordered foods from all four restaurants. I sit at a table of my choosing, and I use my cell-phone camera to access the restaurants' menus through a QR code on my table. During my most recent visit, I could not enter coupon codes into the app, so I had to order face-to-face at the kitchen's cash register. A few employees spent much time figuring out how to apply the coupons. Customers who want takeout or delivery may use the Toast website or app. The employees always bring my foods and beverages to my table in about 10 minutes--fast!From Shaka, I enjoyed the Hawaiian Surf 'n Turf (shrimp and chicken) with mixed greens and brown rice. From SOMI, I enjoyed the vegetable-shrimp pho, beef ramen, bibimbap with bulgogi beef, and tom kha ramen (very nice broth!). From Elevate, I enjoyed the blackened salmon, garlic mashed potatoes, and house salad. From Charred, I enjoyed the wagyu cheeseburger and truffle fries.

I was at a Bakery Square book club meeting and decided to order some food for lunch. It came out pretty quickly. I really liked the Pittsburgh salad - it was hearty and had a lot of different textures and flavors. I also liked my pistachio espresso martini although I wish the pistachio flavor was a tad stronger. We sat out in the atrium and were able to order from there via QR code and our food was delivered to us.

I came back to City Kitchen with another friend to watch another Steeler game. When the weather is cooperating, I think City Kitchen is one of the best places to watch a sports game. The ambiance is great and I like how you can just pick a table and order off of your phone as you please. Even though everything is ordered by phone, there was still amble staff checking on tables to make sure the patrons were satisfied. I really enjoy spending time at City Kitchen. Now that it is colder out, I want to sit indoors to see how that experience is!

Great atmosphere especially for kids. We went for lunch on a weekday and let my kids play while we ate. It's order by phone style which is easy and efficient. We order two dishes for Shaka which were good quality. I have seen the nachos before and felt like they were lacking a bit. The bowl was awesome though. So so good! Would def go again and try another concept.

Amazing food!! Do not let the app ordering and all to deter you. Great options. I love ordering from multiple cuisines in 1 meal. I love the ramen and the grandpa's pierogies- such great food and a wonderful selection. Love the outside seating too when it's nice out. I've never had a bad meal here

City Kitchen is my go to spot for happy hour, friend in town, or after work dinner. They have a ton of variety, ample parking in the Bakery Square garage, service is fast and friendly, and you own your own timelines with the scan to order menus (a good thing, since there is so much to choose from). This is a great spot for folks who have a wide variety of dietary needs because there are so many options. The outdoor dining options are also perfect, especially during seasons with big games. The downsides, the prices are steep on food (though portions are decent and drinks are very reasonable), they don't always have every item that appears to be on the menu, and the food itself though good, really isn't great. That being said, it really is an overall total package, and I do recommend!

Great vibes, food could improve.Loved the outdoor area, such a nice place for large groups, families, lounging and playing!Great concept of being able to order from different restaurants, but the menu was so expansive that it's hard to decide what to get (think Cheesecake Factory vibes). As for when you get the food, well, it might not be what you expect. I got the tonkotsu ramen, and when it finally arrived, despite it not having a spicy symbol on the menu, it was SOOOOO SPICY. Usually I'd be fine with it, but I was still nursing and my baby reacts to spicy food, so I had to send it back. They didn't have a non-spicy broth, and I didn't have time to order something else, so I had to skip lunch that day. Sad.Hubs got California poke with rice from Shaka, and it came DRENCHED in sauce, it was almost inedible (would have been inedible with the rice). Fish was fresh though.Got baby a terriyaki chicken bowl, came with only a few pieces of chicken also absolutely drenched in sauce over rice, no veggies or anything. Would be nice to have a couple pieces of vegetables and less sauce. Also got a passionfruit lemonade, tasted like water. BleghFriend's pho came out after everyone was done with their food even though she was one of the first ones to order, so that also wasn't great.Their space is amazing, but just wish their food could be at the same standard! They definitely have the potential to be a hit but right now leaves a lot to be desired.

Quick, pleasant, and friendly service. The food was well seasoned. The ramen was the highlight of my meal, however, it was a bit spicier than expected, but otherwise full of flavor. The interior is a bit loud when running at full capacity which made it hard to hear and talk to others. The outside looked like a great area to spend with kids. Our party had some issues navigating the qr code menu, but staff was able to take orders instead.
