I had a taco from here at Pittsburgh VEGFEST last August and to be honest it tasted exactly like it had Morningstar Farms chorizo crumbles on it. If so, you should be ashamed of yourselves. The shell tasted like a store bought brand and the topping were minimal to say the least. It also took nearly 30 minutes for one taco and there was only one guy ahead of us and two other people waiting and to be honest their orders took just as long as ours. Not acceptable! The vibe at the festival last year was great and yeah some of the lines were long, but they were all moving exceptionally fast except this one.The workers seemed very confused and overwhelmed.Yeah, the taco was fairly good, but the wait time for one taco was beyond frustrating. I hope if they are there again today at the festival they are serving better quality crumbles, better quality tortilla shells and more plentiful toppings.

I decided to try Chip and Kale because it was recommended to me by a friend. I liked the fact that it is local and there would not be as much packaging as the other plans I have used in the past, which arrived via UPS in large boxes with ice packs and thermal linings. This is what I like about Chip and Kale:Food is delicious. Ingredients seem fresh and the opposite of processed food.Price is reasonable and less per serving than other plans I have tried. No ongoing subscription.Food kits arrive frozen which gives me flexibility of what to make and when. The directions are simple and very clear. Even the ingredients are numbered. Minimal packaging. I have been washing and will reuse most of the ziplock bags. I will probably keep two of the totes for personal use and return the others to Chip and Kale.Stand alone deserts offered. Apple strudel looks delicious.

My mom, who lives in Columbus, OH, was scheduled to have a mastectomy. I knew I'd be going to help care for her after the surgery and ordered a weeks worth of Chip and Kale to take with me. It was so great- I didn't have to leave her alone at home to go grocery shop, the meals were easy, and healthy, and she absolutely loved them. It seems like such a little thing, but these meals really made a stressful time so much easier. They were also so good I'm cancelling my hungryroot subscription and switching to Chip and Kale!

Wow! Very impressed with our first try. We have one vegan member in our family and I wanted to have some meals on hand the whole family could try. Very please and my husband claims to hate beans and he raved about one of the dishes (all beans). We will try again and it is packaged perfectly with instructions. Excellent all around! I love the fact we can support a local business - a huge bonus!

Best vegan delivery service. I moved from Bloomfield to Shadyside to 30 miles out of the city and my service has always been phenomenal. I typically have enough food for more than a week. Eliminates waste and I get to try new foods.

Chip & Kale is amazing! I rotate between being vegan and vegetarian and we have a young toddler. These meals are ALWAYS delicious and always easy - a great price for what you get too. I've tried Hello Fresh and Blue Apron and my husband and I both prefer Chip & Kale way over the others. The owner/chef is always improving packaging, etc. too so we know she cares about the quality of what she's producing. Favorite meals include Thai pizza, cauliflower bisque with pretzel bread, and anything Buffalo or cheese related!

So far so good! I received my first order and have prepped 2 of the meals. I love that they are frozen so nothing goes bad and so fast to cook when you need a meal. Very happy with the service so far and have ordered my next round of meals.

Very convenient, easy prep, and delicious meals. Ordered the meals for 2 and all but one had enough leftovers for the next day's lunch.

I love love love Chip and Kale! This service is awesome! I love being able to go home after work and actually have dinner. Everything is in the package and they are so easy to make and delicious. I've never been disappointed! You get to see the menu before it comes out and you can always substitute another dinner if there is something you don't like... but I've never done that since everything always sounds so good. I never got past the sign up for similar services because the ones that I looked at require you to sign up for a subscription and ask for your credit card before you even know what they will be sending (I looked at hello fresh, blue apron and home chef). It also looked like they had very limited options for "vegetarian"... not sure if any of these services actually have a vegan option

I have become a huge fan of Chip and Kale in Pittsburgh. As the only vegan in the household, I end up having to cook for one a lot. Ordering a week of meals (meant for 2) gives me a variety of dishes for a couple of weeks. There is no need to ask about every ingredient on the menu. Everything is vegan, but nonvegans will enjoy these dishes as well. They're well-seasoned, flavorful and quick to make. Because you're cooking prepared ingredients instead of heating up a frozen dinner in the microwave, the dishes taste fresh and homemade. Some of the things I like best about C&K: 1) If one of the week's meals doesn't appeal to you, you can order two of another. 2) The chef and staff are quick to respond by email if you have questions. 3) You can be relatively eco-friendly by returning the containers. Just throw them in the dishwasher and leave them for pickup. They get sterilized and you get a small thank-you discount for recycling. 4) There are occasional special-event discounts as well. For me, this is an affordable way to have a part-time personal chef. I dislike shopping and chopping, but I'm happy to cook up the ingredients. Keep in mind that the meals tend to be of the one-pot variety (stews, stir-fries, casseroles, stroganoffs), usually served with a grain or polenta. While every entrée supplies a complete protein and fulfills all nutritional needs for a meal, you might want the occasional side salad to round out your dinner.I hope you'll join me in supporting local, health-oriented chefs like this one, who care about quality and encourage compassion.
