Chev & Rachel's Family Diner

This neighborhood diner is friendly, fast, and good. The wait staff is attentive and can custom make any dish. If you come in more than once they'll remember you. They do prefer cash though they have a card machine. Only negative is the basement Pittsburgh bathroom which is hard for folks who struggle with steep stairs.

So thankful to Yelp for this one. We would never have found it otherwise. Today's special was Crab Benedict and it did not disappoint. There was an amazing amount of crab and the eggs were poached perfectly. The sauce was a tad too lemony for my taste, but still tasty and smooth. The breakfast potatoes were

If you are looking for a casual neighborhood diner, look no further! Street parking is easy to find and follow your nose to Chev and Rachel's. You open the door and are greeted by the haze of a cooktop and smell of diner food. There are a few tables and bar seating but the space is small. The breakfast menu covers the basics - eggs, potatoes, pancakes and specials are written on a whiteboard. Service is friendly and quick. Pancakes are solid - fluffy, sweet, heavy. I really enjoyed the blueberries. Home fries benefit from cooktop grease and abundant seasoning. Mancini's bread is the standard for toast. Everything was delicious but there is nothing on the menu that makes this a standout breakfast destination. However, this is perfect for a no frills home style breakfast in an area with limited food options.

I order the same breakfast at every diner I go to. This might be the best 2 eggs over medium with home fries bacon rye toast with a single pancake I've had. Surprising how hard it is to get perfect over medium eggs, but not here. Crispy edges on the whites, yolk cooked but no hard edges, no runny whites at all. Home fries nicely seasoned and firm in outside, while tender and soft inside. Pancake was a great finisher too.

We live a few blocks away from Chev & Rachel's and have been for breakfast many times before. The food has always been delicious, the service friendly, and the ambiance is always comfortable. We visited today for breakfast and were not let down. We ordered a Juju Platter from the specials and some corned beef hash on the side. Every bite on the plate was delicious. The potatoes were fried perfectly, the French toast tasted amazing, and the service was as delightful as always.We are huge fans and we look forward to stopping in for breakfast for many years to come!

Family diner with a good variety of breakfast options: egg/sausage/bacon/side combos, scrambles, breakfast bowls, omelets, breakfast sandwiches, and pancakes. I ordered a breakfast sandwich that came with a side of home fries, it was ~$7 and I left full. Friendly and quick service. Parking: on street parking but it's in a residential neighborhood and when we came on a Sunday morning around 10, there were plenty of open spots. Seating: there are a few 2 and 4 person tables, and counter seating. Overall, this is a great spot for a delicious breakfast.

I had never heard of this place before but a friend suggested we go here for breakfast. It's a no frills diner with prices to match. There isn't a ton of seating in here and when I came on a Sunday at 1030am, I snagged the last table available. It cleared out not long after though so seems like more of a breakfast than brunch place. Menu isn't expansive but there is something for all tastes. I was intrigued by the bowls and got one with sausage. Definitely not the healthiest thing but it was tasty and VERY filling. Service was very friendly and prompt too. I'm a sucker for a good diner and will def come back here sometime.

Don't believe the good reviews. This place was not good. They don't have air conditioning and the door is open so just lets the flies in. The food wasn't even mediocre. My husband got the chocolate chip pancakes for $8. There were only 2 pancakes and they were barely done. I got eggs with potato and sausage. The sausage was very poor quality. We eat out for breakfast a lot and I have never been given one piece of toast cut in half. The waitress was the bright side of our visit. I am only giving one star since zero isn't an option.

Breakfast sandwich and coffee in this nice neighborhood diner was great. Temperature outside was hot yet it was pleasant inside and I didn't see anything that another poster had concerns with. Really nice people that work there and I look forward to going back!
