80$ a round for Tom's Run. Gorgeous course but not worth 80$ and I'll tell you why. This is a 50$ track. No food or drink during the round available. They should tell you that before you go play a 4 hour round in 90 degree heat. The course is not built to go back past the clubhouse and they didn't have anyone working their "water stand" on a holiday weekend. $80 a round though. Lol. This is a 50$ track. I used to be the greens keeper at Westmoreland Country Club. If I cut holes on slopes and 4 steps from the edge of the green on a holiday weekend when everyone is out playing, they would have fired me. On the spot. Not sure who cuts the holes up here but the round was the most unenjoyable round I've played in the last 5 years due to this simple process. I'm a 2 handicap and I had lots of trouble with these hole locations. Imagine how bad my dad who is a 20 handicap felt. Unless you're a scratch, don't waste your time here. Nice views. Fast greens. It's a public course. We aren't playing laurel valley here folks.

I am sad to see so few reviews on this course considering how bad it was and I am hoping that another discouraging review will encourage management to make some much needed changes. I am not going to beat them up too much but, for the money, I expected much better conditions of the whole course and a much friendlier personnel in the pro shop.I can think of many other courses in and around the Pittsburgh area that charge much less, offer much better conditions and friendlier staff.

I can't believe how bad this course has gotten. Last weekend we had our leagues 3 day outing there. In the 3 days we were there the pins were never once moved. As a result by Sunday that area of the green was all chewed up and the cups were beat to heck! There was no sand in the traps at all and the tee boxes were a mess and full of crab grass. What's worse is I sent them an email voicing my viewpoints when I got home and they didn't even give me the courtesy of a reply. Clearly it's bad, they know it, and don't care! Do not waist your time or money!!

The course was in the worst shape I have ever seen. Greens were totally abused fairways were spotty and the picturesque 14th 15 and 16th holes around the water, oh wait no water in the lake. Just high grass. 25 dollars for 9 holes and cart should be embarrassed.

Last year while playing in a golf outing I was surprised by how good the meal was. This year, things have gone down hill and the meal was just ok. Don't go out of your way for a meal. Linda was an excellent server and bar-tender.

Paid $75 to play Tom's Run, not worth 1/2 that due to current conditions. Course was sopping wet, bunkers full of water, tees and fairways not mowed in over a week on Saturday in prime season. It had not rained in 2 days, we played another local course the day before and it was not wet at all. It's as if they have only 1 or 2 people on the maintenance crew and have decided that all they need to do is mow the greens, which were slow but healthy. For god sakes turn off the irrigation system for a while until the course dries out and plays hard and fast like good tracks do. New management has done nothing to improve this once fantastic course. Please mow the tees and fairways and address the thatch issues. The layout is fantastic it just needs TLC. This could be a destination golf course if marketed right and conditions improve. Maybe hire Club Corp to manage like Totteridge, at least they have a plan.

The coarse is decent. The back 9 is far nicer than the front 9. Greens are very good, and fairways are average or slightly below average. The starter was friendly and polite, however the pro shop counter guy was a complete jerk. He was rude, not friendly in the least and clearly had an attitude towards younger golfers. Furthermore he charged a cart fee for me to take my 4 year old son out with me. I was a single and the coarse was completely empty, did not see another golfer on it the entire 18. Way to promote youth golf! Its jerks like this that kill the popularity of this game. As PGA works to grow golf and promote it amongst youth, its guys like this that ruin those efforts. Sorry to say it, but it tends to be these older crotchety coarse staff looking down youth playing that drives people away. Hate to break it to you buddy, but your coarse would go under if it relied only on old unhappy jerks like you to pay the bills.

Chestnut Ridge is the home to two fine golf courses. They are a real pleasure to play at- nicely maintained, etc. The problem comes in with the management of the place. I tried to get a tee time and got an answering machine. Five times. Called the manager and got his answering machine. Finally gave up. Previously, I had been to the restaurant after having looked at the specials on-line and was told "those are from months ago". By the way, the reason they didn't answer the phone in the pro shop was that they were having an employee party. Guess they haven't figured out how to change the outbound message.
