Champs Sports Grill

Visited during happy hour on a Friday and sat at the bar. Happy hour deals are posted as "1/2 off drafts and $1 off cocktails". Ordered cocktails from the printed menu. Service was pleasant and drinks tasted okay. When we got the bill, the cocktails were not discounted. Asked the bartender and she said the happy hour discount only applies to "well drinks". Then why does the happy hour menu specifically say "cocktails"? We didn't order any drafts, so who knows if those are really part of happy hour or if there is some mystery qualification that only comes up when you don't get the happy hour pricing. Very deceptive!

Champs is a great spot in Altoona for casual drinks and food. They also have quite a lot of space (two floors and a small outdoor area) so it's not too difficult to get a table even on a busy night. Their food menu is pretty extensive - from sandwiches and salads to pasta dishes, there's a good variety. I recently ordered the Greek salad and shared a plate of cheese fries and the ingredients were fresh and tasty! They have a pretty good beer selection as wellZ

I was traveling to Altoona on a week night and in the mood for something better than the chain options. I saw Champs and gave it a try. So glad I did!Sitting at the bar, I had a beer (Great local IPA) and checked out the menu. The Delmonico Ribeye jumped out at me, and I placed my order Medium Rare. My expectations were not overly high, but this steak exceeded my expectations. Mated with a side Ceaser and accompanied by vegetable skewers, it was perfect size and taste. I would surely come back again.

Good beer selection & good service with a decent late night menu and good food (the little we got). If was a bit odd that I had to argue my way into sampling a sour beer they had on tap. I was ordering a beer either way. But they clearly have issues with people trying ti return them, since they specified that all sales were final and they wouldn't let me taste it first. Eventually I gif the sample and ordered the beer, but it was very annoying and not a great experience.

If you love watching, live sports, and simple yet good food, then this is a solid stop. We have always been seated in a timely mannerand each of our waiters and waitresses have been courteous, involved, and efficient. Never had an issue with my families orders and we have always left enjoying our experience.

Champs in State College has much better tasting food. But the ambiance here is better. it has a cleaner feel. The staff is extremely friendly. I think it is over priced. I try not to eat here that often. It is just missing something. I can't put my finger on it. It isn't good or bad, it is just "something".

This place is a sports bar. It's always busy for a reason. The food is pretty plentiful portion sizes. Even the appetizers are like meals. They have a lot of selections of many types of items to choose from unique items. Like pierogies and handmade raviolis. The pizza has a very thick dough and crust and is huge, enough to feed three people.

Service not so great! Food is good but different each time....Very aesthetically pleasing!

Had a wonderful experience! Our large party was accommodated very efficiently, the food was very good and the service staff was excellent!

Great food and service and my and we forgot a phone and the worker brought it out and gave it back to us. I think that's pretty good service.
