One of the best diners I have ever been to. The food was delicious. I ordered eggs over easy with sausage and toast. Everything was perfectly cooked. The sausage links were large and extremely flavorful. Our server made the experience even better! She was extremely kind, checking on us throughout the meal and making sure we were comfortable. We will definitely return soon!

We come here all the time and it is generally ok but this time we were really disappointed. There were three of us that they jammed into this too small booth. The service was mediocre and the food was underwhelming. I got the western omelette with cold toast and not melted butter. My husband got the corned beef hash and a pancake. (Pics attached). Not good. Very disappointing. Maybe it was an off day.

During a recent trip to Pittsburgh, my friends and I wanted to find a good local place for brunch, where we could also order cocktails. We were shocked that our local friends were struggling to suggest a restaurant. After a long Yelp search, we found Central Diner & Grille. When we arrived around 9:00 a.m. on a Sunday morning, on a Steeler's home game day, the restaurant was packed. The wait went quickly and we were seated in a large, comfortable booth. We checked out the specials board before placing orders. I ordered a fried chicken sandwich while my friends ordered pancakes and a gyro omelet. My sandwich was homemade and fresh. My friends all enjoyed their food as well. Everything was scratch made and super delicious. It was all made better by our cocktails. Mine was a peach Bellini which was sweet and delicious. All of this, on top of the friendly, patient and prompt service made the experience outstanding. I will definitely return to Central Diner & Grille during future trips to Pittsburgh.

A nice alternative to the chain restaurants in a crowded area.Food (4/5): The portions are really large here. I came in on a Saturday and ordered the prime rib (served on the weekends). I ordered the steak medium which was probably a mistake. It came out made to order. They didn't list the portion size but I would say it was well over 16oz. The side salad that came with it was a good size, nothing special though.Service (3/5): My server was friendly and prompt. However, he never stopped at the table. As soon as his feet got to the table he would start to back away to make his way to another table. This is a busy place. That said, taking an additional 5 seconds to at least make eye contact would have been nice.Price (3/5): This is not a greasy spoon diner where the portions are large and the price is low. You get a lot of food here but you pay for it. The prime rib dinner was $35+ and with only one side besides a soup or salad, that's pricey. Kids meals start at $9.95 and go up from there. I would consider that somewhat expensive.

Central Diner and Grille is a little more upscale than a typical diner. Their menu lists breakfast foods such as omelettes and French toast, lunch foods such as wraps and specialty sandwiches, dinner foods such as steaks and pastas, and desserts such as tiramisu and cheesecake. Prices are average. In the past couple of years, my husband and I have eaten at this diner at least four times. For all of our meals, our seating hostesses and waiters performed their jobs promptly and courteously. Here are my ratings for our foods:Belgian waffle with berries - 5 starsBacon - 5 starsEggs Benedict - 3 stars (the Canadian bacon was too thick and hard)Home fries - 3 starsBagel with cream cheese - 4 stars House salads - 4 starsGreek salad - 4.5 starsCrab mushrooms - 4 starsFrench onion soup - 4 starsPoutine - 4.5 starsGyro - 4 starsBeef burger - 4.5 starsChicken parmesan - 4.5 starsScallops - 4.5 starsOnion rings - 4 starsMashed potatoes - 3 starsAsparagus - 4.5 starsCarrot cake - 4.5 stars

Our dining experience was what I had expected when I chose this independent family diner restaurant in Robinson Twp. The large menu includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. Our service was 5-stars on a not very busy weekday evening in November. The portions are huge and prices are on par with similar pricing. When looking for a diner style meal, this is my choice.

Do not ever order the thanksgiving dinner here. It's just a pile of turkey on top of raisin bread. My mashed potatoes also didn't come with the meal and the server charged me extra.

We had a gift card to use here & this was our first time trying it. We were seated quickly on the heated enclosed patio area. There was a TV in there. Server was efficient & friendly & very busy since is was Dec 26. My husband had pancakes, eggs over easy & a side of corned beef hash. The pancakes were huge & so was the side order of hash. He took half home. I had a lox & onion omelette, eggs a tad too well done but it tasted fine. I subbed a bowl of fresh fruit for the hashbrowns to be healthier, and it was a very large bowl of fruit that contained fresh, pineapple, cantaloupe, grapes, blueberries. Their menu is very large so easy to find something most people will like. You can get breakfast all day too. They also have a nice selection of Greek,/Mediterranean dishes. It's an upscale looking diner and I would definitely return if I were in the area. It's very near Robinson Town Center & located in between Red Roof Inn & McDonald's. Private parking lot does get busy.

If you're looking for a brunch spot in Pittsburgh, look no further, Central Diner and Grille has everything you could want for brunch and more. For short, the CDG is a busy weekend spot and sometimes the wait can be over an hour. TIP1: Make sure that all of your party are in attendance, or you will not be seated. The many circular tables in the dining room can accommodate large groups of up to 8 which is fantastic as no tables need to be combined to seat everyone. If your group is smaller, there are smaller tables and booths. While I am not a fan of big menus, CDG, has a big menu, there are a lot of options, and you will need to read and review the menu to find what you're looking for to eat for brunch. There are no straight-out vegan options, so most items need to be veganized for vegans. I chose the Grilled Panini with Vegetables minus the pesto and mozzarella. TIP2: Our server and the kitchen team did not have any issues with the bevy of substitutions and add-ons from our table including the late request for grape jelly. My Grilled Panini with Vegetables was good but needed a sauce as it was dry. CDG did not have any salsa or spicy sauce that was vegan as per my request but they did have Frank's Red Hot on the table. The pancakes are about the same size as a tire on a Tesla. They are simply gigantic, Godzilla-sized. The Waffles were large as well. The Eggs Benedict with the sauce on the side and the hash browns were well done was made to order and the diner did enjoy his breakfast. Hurray!Come hungry to CDG and leave extremely full or be ready to get some steps at the local mall.
