Caputos is family owned & the owner spent her early years growing up in Italy! Ah ha! That's why it is such authentic Italian food! And the pizza is fabulous! The sauce is made from scratch as is everything. But it's only open 2 days a week, Thursday & Friday, but if u want pizza Wednesday, or whenever, its soooo worth the wait! You will be a regular after just one bite! You can eat there or pick up to take home. You'll love this place. It's called Caputo's Friendly Inn for an obvious reason!

Great pizza, a light puffy crust, never raw dough here.Worst thing is the very limited hours of operation.

This is the BEST pizza I have had in PGH. I have been so sad since I moved here (I'm a native New Yorker) because I have not been able to find pizza I LOVE and would go buy again and again or even just to satisfy my pizza craving in general. This place is way better than NY pizza. I have been to Italy and it tastes like the pizza I used to buy in a little small shop by the Pantheon in Rome. There was a pizza I would get there that they would fold over and put in a brown bag like a sandwich and then when you bite into it you're shocked by how something presented that way tastes the way it does. The dough on this tastes EXACTLY like that pizza dough. Except it looks so much nicer and the cheese.. I can't say enough good things. This place took me right back to Italy. I can't wait to try their pasta! Wish I could give ten stars.

Don't be afraid to go in here. Its only open Thursday through Saturday but its worth finding the time to go here. The pizza is made square style on fresh homemade dough. The hoagies are also served on homemade buns. The food can take a while sometimes because I think just one person is making everything but it is well worth the wait.

After reading the reviews for Caputo's Friendly Inn, I had extremely high hopes. We've been looking for a new go-to pizza place, and I figured we couldn't go wrong with the number of high reviews The atmosphere is cozy. It's a bar and restaurant, and we almost drove past it - its truly a hole in the wall. It's probably an incredible place to get a beer, with extremely friendly staff and patrons. We ordered two large cheese pizzas and a steak sandwich. The steak sandwiches are not good. The meat is spongy and of awful quality. The bread is also spongy and dry. There is absolutely no flavor at all to the sandwich. No seasonings, barely any salt, just onion, lettuce, mozz, "meat", tomato and dry crusty bread. The pizza is better, but the crust is identical to the dry bread used in the sandwiches. There is absolutely no moisture in the pizza crust, and it has the texture of spray foam insulation or packing peanuts and tastes slightly of corn. I'm assuming that perhaps by getting the pizza with toppings, you might get some of the fat from the topping to drip down into the crust and hydrate it, but I shouldn't have to get pork on my pizza for it to be edible. The sauce is incredible. It's probably one of the best pizza sauces I've ever had the delight of trying and the cheese to sauce ratio is perfect. If pizza were just sauce and cheese I'd understand the good reviews, but crust is the foundation on which all good pizza is built, and this crust is absolutely horrendous. Maybe ask if you can buy a quart of their sauce, make your own dough and bake your own pizza. The sauce is that amazing. But I can't with the crust. It's a good value for pizza - the 16 cut square pizzas are enormous. If they ever decide to make a better crust, I'd absolutely be here every weekend. Until then, they get a firm NO from me.

I love to go to the burg and get my pizza and hoagie fix. The pizza is a square pizza, dough home made and light, home made sauce and a generous portion of pepperoni and cheese. OMG it is good. Thanks Caroline and family.
