"The last visit to Fatheads was in 2003. A stumbling lad who stumbled into this eatery with a silly notion to be quenched. Is it true them damn samwiches is as fat as my head. To my utter joy the cholesterol raced through my veins lubricating all sorts of divine enchantments to the wonders that be still a beating heart. I was alive then and daggonit that Fat Italian sandwich delivered delight. Many moons had passed and in 2025 I found myself in Pittsburgh, PA a stones throw from a mountain of memories. I convinced my wife to let us go and off we went. I entered the establishment that I had been craving for two decades and found myself transported back in time to that season of decadence and delightful abandonment. The sights, the smells, the food oh the fragrance of long forgotten days that began at 7am and ended at 3am. Rested after a night sleep i ordered the Fat Italian once again. My souls thirst had been quenched my deliverer of flavors. The meat so thick, so poignant, so unmistakable Pittsburgh with its bold outpouring of a simple idea. Work hard play hard live for eternity the yokes removed from my tastebuds. The hard boiled eggs perfectly light and fluffy with texture. The rosemary mayo an ode to herbology. Maybe I was a small town girl on a Saturday night dancing like a maniac 20 years ago but here at a proper lunch hour I sat back and feasted and relived that small little portion of a time travelers fable where I touched that time long since forgotten and enjoyed this treat as time stood still. "Honestly one of the best restaurant experiences I have had. Our waitress was absolutely wonderful. The perfect amount of attention and was so patient and kind. I especially appreciated this since it was my friend and I and 5 kids total. The food was wonderful also. I ordered the funky monkey waffle. Omg! Mouth watering! My son ordered the chicken and waffles on the kids menu. It was so good and the fruit that came with it was great. My friend ordered breakfast tacos and they looked great. I tried a few of her chips and they were pleasantly tasty. We also ordered mimosas and they were great! I can't say enough. I appreciate the excellent service and I am very happy we decided on waffles incaffeinated today."

You can add any flavor you like but I had it with just a lemon wedge and it hit the spot. There were no servers when I was there, I think it's always this way. The bartender who took my order was very friendly :) They do have an app for orders which is useful. I don't like to use apps to order unless it's take out though. I assume that they do a lot of take out business here.The front room gets wonderful daylight, even on the rainy day when I was there. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, this is a great place to meet with friends and family.I found it to be an affordable (by comparison) and casual dining experience in the heart of Lawrenceville. I'm rarely there so this was a great find to me. What's not to love?"

I first heard about this place on the TV shows that featured it, and I always thought that if I made it back to Pittsburgh, I'd like to go. Now, I'm disappointed. The bread was good. The prices were a bit high. The quality of the product was ok. I don't feel bad that we went. I also never will feel the need to go back. The bar was old. The barstools are a much mash of discomfort. They don't take credit or debit cards. It's strictly cash only. They do have an ATM on site, but there's a $2.75 surcharge. They also have minimal amenities; plastic forks and paper plates. This place was more fun when I saw it on TV and anticipated what it would be like. Now that I've been there, the fun is gone. They're still trying to relive the glory days when the mills were booming. Those days are over. Unless you like the nostalgia of an old building with an old bar in a town that is barely hanging on, and with minimal comforts, go somewhere else. It just isn't worth the trip or the cost to go here. You can find places at least as good nearly anywhere."

Their food has been consistent over the few times we've been there. I really enjoyed the roast beef wrap which is nicely grilled and crispy on the outside. Their coleslaw and broccoli salad were both super good! We also tried the green fries which come with artichokes, pesto, and brie cheese that were very good. They get a nice mix of old/young patrons and the vibe is laid back."

The diner is fairly small, it does have takeout and there is counter as well as booth seating.Service was very good and our waitress was very attentive to our needs. She went with eggs over easy with a side of slab bacon. I decided to try the make it yourself omelette. Their omelettes are made with 4 extra large eggs and you have a choice of 3 ingredients with cheese being one of them. I ordered it with a side of home fries and rye bread.We got our food rather quickly. My omelette was huge but I am grateful I ordered it with swiss cheese which made it lighter and with mushrooms and green peppers. The home fries were not greasy and the marbled rye bread slices were generous. My girlfriend enjoyed her breakfast as well. The place wasn't crowded when we arrived nor did it get crowded during our visit. Sat mornings must be a good time to drop in.Prices are reasonable for what you would expect at this diner. Good food and outstanding service. Definitely will return.Located in the shoppes of Noblestown Rd in Westwood the shops have their own parking lot."

It's now a sit down with a menu (before you would order at the front and pick up your own food). The menu is a little bit different too, so the build your own bowls that I was talking about are no longer on there :( anyways, I got the chips and guac and the Carnitas taco, the shrimp taco and the fish taco and as usual it was all delicious! All the tacos were sooo flavorful. With the new menu, you can order different types of tacos, which I love! My friends actually thought the food was better since the change! Tako torta is one of my go to spots!"

The flavor was OK.Caesar salad - 3.5 stars - The Caesar salad contained fresh lettuce, large croutons, a good amount of cheese, and dressing on the side. Good but typical.Chicken parmesan - 1 star - My husband ate NONE of this entree. The chicken was in small chunks and was mixed into the spaghetti. We had expected a large piece of crispy chicken sitting on top of the spaghetti.Cheese fries - 4 stars - The fries came in a large serving, were crispy, and were covered in a good amount of cheese.Turkey hoagie - 4 stars - This hoagie had crispy bread and fresh turkey and vegetables and was served warm."

Hotel staff recommended Mama Randazzo's as THE best in Altoona. Hungry for pasta we took the advice. No kidding - this place was seriously delicious.We all ordered various forms of pasta - with meatball and without. We had one full blooded Italian in the party to ensure we were objective, and after much slurping of noodles and stuffing of meatballs into our mouths we knew we had truly eaten in Altoona's finest. Arguably the best Spaghetti and Meatballs I have had in a long long time. Whatever your current situation you have to go there or get take out. I can only hope I make it back soon to have more."
