"This was our first time at this upscale pub in Oakmont. It has a great atmosphere and friendly service. I ordered the grilled cheese expecting a basic sandwich. First of all the size of this sandwich was huge! It had three kinds of cheese and bacon on it. I have no idea what kind of bread they used but it was perfect! My mom got a pasta dish that she thoroughly enjoyed. We went during lunch so it's quite quiet but I would love to go back in the evening sometime as well. I would also like to revisit in the summer as it appears they have a nice patio area to sit in."

I had two Miller light drafts and a Bombay Safire Gin with soda. Jay had a heavy hand, so the drink made my belly warm. For food, I ordered the Chicken pasta mix with mushrooms. It hit the spot even though I prefer chicken as a breast instead of being shredded. The shuffleboard table is professional and fun, not level though so that adds to the challenge. "I'm such a fan of Modern Cafe! Even though I no longer live in the area, any time I'm on the North Side this is my go to spot. The vibe is super casual - seat yourself. They have a large bar menu with local brews & cocktails. Their menu is really big with lots of options. I love the cheese sticks & zucchini plank appetizer - it comes with marinara and a horseradish sauce that is delicious. My go to has been the Turkey Rachel. It's delicious and very filling. It doesn't come with a side but we always get a basket of fries for the table to split, they're crinkle fries too (my favorite). Service is always quick and friendly. I always forget to take pictures though, but trust me, you don't want to miss out on this spot!"

"We stayed in the Airbnb above Jamison's for the weekend and for us not knowing the area too well we're glad Jamison's was there for us. Food was excellent. We had the Siracha Dry Rub wings and a burger and they were delicious. Some of the best wings I've ever had. We came back the next night and had some drinks, played darts and had some Buffalo chicken dip. Bar had great vibes, very cozy. Staff was very friendly and attentive. My husband got two types of wings. We really liked the salt and vinegar dry rub, we didn't really like the hot butter garlic. There was a ton of that pre-minced garlic and it just had a weird artificial taste. Overall though everything was good and it's a cool place to hang out. We'll be back soon!"

This little neighborhood watering hole is pretty small, but it feels very warm and welcoming, and it's not at all divey. They have a HUGE selection of whiskeys, which makes my Old Fashioned-loving hubby very happy. They also serve a limited menu of food, which is surprisingly tasty. I've tried the buffalo chicken mac and cheese and the BBQ chicken flatbread, which are both solid. So not only is a this a nice little spot to duck in for a drink, but you can have a legit dinner as well. Oh, and prices are very reasonable, so there's yet another feather in its cap!Also, I heard that the name is supposed to be a play on the term "jagoff." I have no idea if that's true, but if it is, it makes me love this place even more. Cheers!"

Beyond that it was a nightmare.The service was sooooo sloooooow. It took too long for the waitress to come take our food orders after we placed a drink order. People in service should know to pick up the pace when they see small children in a party. However, even if it had been just adults, there is no excuse to keep us waiting for ten minutes. And then the food took absolutely forever, at least half an hour. During the wait, I counted only four parties totaling 14 people in the entire place. It was so frustrating.When the food arrived, half of it was wrong. My daughter ordered a kid's cheeseburger; she received a burger with no cheese. I ordered a grilled chicken salad with caesar dressing on the side; I received a caesar salad with the dressing mixed in. I didn't send it back--no time to wait!The salad was merely lettuce, dressing, and "chicken." The meat was rubbery and stale-tasting. The pretzel bites were horrid; sort of ligh-textured and vaguely sweet, but saturated with oil, they tasted more like toasted chunks of brioche bread than real soft pretzels. The "beer cheese" was mercifully flavorless.My wife's fish sandwich was bland but okay. The french fries were delicious. See, I closed on a positive note."

"I'm not David Portnoy, but I know pizza because after 35 years and conquering 38 states I've tried thousands of pounds of the pizza pie genre, and I don't heavily hand out 5 star reviews, so when I hand these out it's with great weight and tremendous pause. Yes, Westmoreland county could do better with its diversity of food and thought, but what it does lack Mr Mikes comes in and steals the number 1 spot in the North Huntingdon/Irwin/ Greensburg area with reasonable prices, and and an assortment of options with their wings and subs. Note, I have yet to try the subs but the mini pizza, white pizza and traditional pizza hit hard and surprised me with their basic balance. Is it the best I've ever had, no, but it's the best in a 300k population and that in its own right is a tremendous win. Traditional Pizza We go half cheese half pepperoni because my oldest needs to feel like she is eating an additional food group even though pepperoni is barely meat! Like bacon, I consider that topping a condiment like olives or mushrooms! Crust needed some char, but they use the right kind of ingredients which carries the pizza across the finish line and gives it the kind of greasy, I'm hung over and hate chain pizza kind of vibe. May I add the ranch is house made and not like a chain. I have a beef about these mom and pops not attempting blue cheese. Would it hurt you to try, please?7.1/10White Pizza with TomatoeAgain, great ingredients and simple is the approach and although I think char is a necessity for any 7.5 or above, I feel they know what they are and the price isn't unreasonable. 7.2/10Wings I love their approach on wings, not flowered but fried and possibly baked on the back end perhaps? Either way, they maintain their juicy flavor while have a crunchy skin that gives you solid texture. By far the more unique approach in the area.7.5/10The ranch is spot on and I would like to see them branch out with the blue cheese, but I was very impressed. Infernos quality has dropped big time and loses its crown, and I don't see that changing any time soon. As for Rodney's, they need more consistency to their cooking style but if I had to give the chip it's Mr Mikes because of price and simplicity."

"This is a nice neighborhood pub on Library Ave that I've visited a couple of times. They have a pretty standard selection of beers, with maybe 10 or so taps and some craft beers on tap. There was a Flying Fish Porter I had that was pretty good. There seems to be a bunch of regulars here and late on a Friday afternoon business was pretty good. They have a typical pub menu, and I got a burger with home made chips. The burger had a pretty nice sized patty, maybe a third of a pound, and it was a good deal for $6.95. My craft beer was $6 and Yuengling drafts were $2.50. They have several screens and later in the afternoon they had the local news station on with audio playing from the TV. I seem to remember smoking allowed here, but on a nice day they had the door opened with a nice breeze coming through. It was pleasant to sit at the bar. This is a good place to come for pub fare if you're in the neighborhood."

I got 4 beers and some wings for under $20 and now I know why people go here to pregame and never leave when the game starts! The wings are phenomenal btw. I was very impressed. All the bartenders were super nice and quick to serve us. I wish they had waiters that would come around to the different tables but other than that, it's a great place. They also have a ton of other stuff to do there besides watching the games. Pool, darts, small arcade games, and even a small stage and DJ booth for weekend nights. They have an outdoor patio area that's open all year round but just stays enclosed in the winter. There is also a free parking lot across the street so it's super convenient. Give this place a try if you're looking for a great bar to watch the Steelers on a Sunday!"

I had a chicken sandwich called the drunken bird or something like that, and a steak sandwich. The sandwiches are really good and pretty big servings. They come with either fries or chips, and I like their chips, which are homemade, not out of a bag. All sandwiches on the menu are $7.50, a good price. Overall, this is a nice neighborhood pub."

It's saving grace is the opportunity to hear great blues music from area musicians on the weekend. Not many places offer blues. The drawback is that seating is minimal. The night I stopped in, it was very crowded with locals. We stood by the bar for about a half an hour. Even though, I enjoyed the music and people watching. People from all walks of life. The bartender was friendly and the drinks were reasonably priced. The food is said to be good, but the kitchen was closing by the time I arrived. I guess some would call Speals a dive bar. There is nothing derogatory by that. I would say it is like a honky-tonk, though honky-tonks are more country music. I liked the live music and atmosphere. 3 stars for appearance; 4 stars for live music and friendly bartenders."
