The views across the valley can be lovely - you may get more sniffs of nature than you desire on certain holes, but that factors into the ambiance. Clubhouse:Bad. The clubhouse is extremely dated and not very well maintained. I doubt any upgrades have been made since it was built. Pro for me though - clubouse dogs! Some very old very sweet labs are there (as of 2022)"

Phil G. "Disclaimer: this review is from the perspective of a parent of a youth amateur hockey player. The RMU Island Sports Center is the premier ice hockey facility in the area. It is simply fantastic. Lets start with the ice. There are two indoor rinks, a covered outdoor rink, and a covered outdoor deck hockey rink. Of the two indoor rinks, the 84 Lumber Arena s NHL-sized and has fantastic spectator seating. The other rink is an Olympic-sized rink and is aptly named Olympic. The spectator seating is less, but still ample for youth hockey games. There is also great standing area behind the net, both inside the rink and outside the rink in the corridor because of the large windows. Both rinks are very well lit, good ice surface, and nicely maintained. The two outdoor rinks are covered in a large barn-like structure with thick plastic curtains to keep the wind out. One has ice in the winter and the other is for deck hockey/roller hockey year round. They have what looks like a large changing area for mites (very young kids) who always need their parents assistance when changing.) This is nice since most rinks have the kids change anywhere where there's room. (Mites play six teams at a time on a sheet of ice.)There is a pro shop on site, which is always important to have at a hockey rink.Their snack bar is very nice. They serve Starbucks coffee, and they even have a pizza oven! This is a great rink for hockey tournaments, especially for the parents. You will have plenty to do and a very pleasant environment to do it in."

Although the hotdog at the turn was premade wrapped in foil sitting in a roaster. After getting that I noticed the fresh hoagies, I would have rather had that. Over all it was nice, got backed up at times, but it was a Saturday morning so that was expected. GPS on the carts is nice also. The guy working in the pro shop was nice and energetic. I didn't see anything that I really disliked but, in all fairness, it wasn't great either. The pro shop was dated, and the restrooms/locker rooms were also dated and not well lit or cleaned. I would return but maybe for just the first 9. The full 18 seemed to drag for some reason."

Paul M. "One of the oldest golf courses in America - built in 1895 by Spencer Oldham and then renovated in 1923 by Donald Ross of Pinehurst fame, then recently renovated again in 2007 with the opening of the resort. This is an absolutely stunning golf course - nestled magnificently in a valley with twists and turns and elevation changes. The par 3s are the most memorable - two of them are true island greens - one in front of a pond and the other at the top of a steep hill - truly round destroyers if you get it wrong. At about 120 yards a piece though they are reachable and I was lucky enough to get on both of them - sadly I missed the ( longish) birdie putts and just managed to par out.The service here is spectacular - I was - amazingly - the lone golfer on the course when I played here. The starter came out to ask if I needed anything on the 9th hole - this is links style so it is as far away from the start as you can get - I desperately needed a light as my fake zippo was not working. He went and got me a couple of match books and I was able to light my cigar. Me, the valley, a gorgeous golf course and a fine cigar. I don't think I have ever played a better round of golf this year in a better place."

John W. "I wanted this to be a good range because it's within 10 minutes of my home, but it just isn't. The "grass" area is a bunch of weeds/grass with sand under it, they're really cramped together and they're all within 25 yards of an outdoor hockey rink. You can hear people yelling, the siren, the players hitting the boards - just like a real golf course! All of the matted tees are set on a slope going uphill, many of them with dips in the middle of them, so when you stand on them, you sink into the mat. When you hit, the mats can slide around under your feet and you're always hitting with the ball above your feet. Unlike many ranges with mats going up a hill from left to right, they're not tiered/stepped - just on an incline. Of course, you can still hear the sirens from the hockey rink here as well. The balls are a mix of junk and less junk. There were a few decent balls in there, but for the most part, they're all shag balls. I paid $10 for 90 balls, which would have been fine if the environment were better. I would just go to Cranberry Highlands for a good range. They're pricier, but all of the mats are level and the grass areas are much, much nicer. The balls are in much better shape as well. You can ignore the dress code for the range as you're allowed to wear t-shirts and athletic shorts/pants."

Our waitress was quite prompt & observant of our needs, and the food came out in reasonable time. Definitely no complaints there.Overall, it was slightly pricier than I'd anticipated for what we ordered, but it was worth it to eat in peace sans screaming, food-covered, bratty children. Meghan B. "I came here for my little cousins birthday party this past Saturday. This was my first time coming to Cool Springs since they renovated, so I was excited to see what changes were made. Honestly, I didn't remember much from how it was before, besides the area outside were the shooting range is. Considering it is January and was freezing when I went, I did not check out the new shooting range other than observing it from a window on the inside. The inside of Cool Springs looks amazing. The bar is gorgeous and the view is beautiful- it overlooks the golf course. It's cozy- almost like a ski lodge, with the fireplace and the darker colors. I didn't have a chance to check out their menu , but I heard their wings are pretty good and I definitely plan on going back to try some food. Their party room was very odd. It was in a room that also overlooked the golf area , so the view was green and pretty. There weren't actual walls though- there were like thick tent walls if that makes sense- allowing for air and cold to come through the cracks. I'm not sure if this is something that they are still working on or if that's the way the room is. The ceiling was also very leaky (it was raining). A real big inconvenience at the party- my baby cousin kept getting leaked on. The buffet consisted of a salad, multiple types of pizza and some boneless wings. Everything that I ate was decent but nothing spectacular. Their tomato basil pizza had a garlic sauce and chunks of mozzarella cheese - it was really good. Our service was also great- one waitress took care of our party and kept great track of what items needed to be refilled in the buffet as well as taking our dirty plates. She was awesome. The interactive golfing game in the basement was pretty cool- definitely cool that you can practice golf or just play for fun in the cold weather. Overall, it was an average experience. I would like to come back with better weather to see how the shooting range and mini golf is now and possibly to check out their menu for lunch."

We were assigned two carts, one of the guys I was with went to get bags in one cart and by the time I got out from paying both carts were gone. The guy assigning carts acted as if this was our fault. Once we got that sorted out, some unfriendly guy came up to us with a clipboard and condescendingly asked for our receipts. The course was fine but I'd say nothing really sets it apart from the similar public courses nearby. Many holes run parallel to each other so you'll frequently have visitors onto your fairways. At one point, some guy came onto our fairway and hit away one of our balls without even checking with us. It was nearly $40/person for 9 holes, rather overpriced if you ask me. I would not come back here."

Nine holes for $18 with a cart. They also have different passes available to purchase. I have the twilight pass which is $169. Good entire calendar year. You pay for cart each time ($7) or walk for no extra charge. What I never understand here and other course is if I get a cart, it's $7 (here), but if my friend golfs with me in my cart it's $7 additional. We could both get our own carts, however I feel like if you share the cart, it should be discounted between the two. Anyways...I'd like to think I'd walk, but who would hold my beer?Drinks are priced well and they have some great food. Wing night, daily specials on drinks and food. The decor is older, but the service is great. Pro shop has a small selection...more ladies' stuff than typical pro shops. I always wonder why they don't have more ladies' apparel. We shop!Lots of clinics and event nights to get new golfers in and plenty of leagues. What I really like about this course is that it's really women friendly. Tamara G. "I had no idea what to expect when my friend's band played the Slippery Rock Golf Club on a cold March Friday night. It's way out there, if you're not from the area & your GPS will take you on a scenic winding road, country detour which is OK in daylight but a nightmare in the pitch dark on the way home. This review is based solely on the clubhouse bar/restaurant, not on the golf course itself. The building is non-descript on the outside, but fairly nice inside with a large bar, dining area, middle room with pool table & back banquet room that looks like a regular basic wedding reception room (essentially what I imagine it's used for)...which is where the band played. There is no actual stage. It was quite busy on a Friday night and the two bartenders were slightly overwhelmed and doing their best to take care of the customers. They actually have a pretty big menu with lots of choices, and I had the fish and chips which was good-a very large piece of fried fish. The Miller Lite on draft was cheap at three dollars a pint. The band had a decent crowd in the back room, mostly older folks, so it was a little strange like playing to an old people's wedding reception, but it worked out & was fun. They look like they have a nice patio attached to the restaurant that overlooks the golf course that will be nice once the weather warms up. If my friends play here again I would stop by but not living in the area doubtful that I will be back until then. Having said that if you live in the area definitely worth a looksee and looks like a decent place to eat or sit at the bar. They have a one of the largest screen TV's I've seen in a bar. The bartenders were friendly despite how busy they were."

For a corkage fee, they let is bring our own wine to the club for dinner, which was really important to us.
