"If you live in Pittsburgh this place isn't a secret but it feels like it when you first walk in. Drinks are always amazing, the food is great. And the people here are even better than that. The vibe is perfect. Very clean and well maintained inside. I usually get sushi of some kind. Have had the pizza here before. Very good. Their whisky selection is excellent. All the bartenders are good. Very partial to Bartender Mike's Sazerac."
"I haven't been here since around 2017. I always liked Dive Bar. They have a nice menu selection & good beers on tap & some tasty cocktails. My bartender/server today was very friendly and efficient. I ordered the calamari which came out hot and was not chewy. It was just right. I also had a mushroom Swiss burger, medium, and it was cooked perfectly with a little pink in the middle and it was nice and juicy with lots of gooey cheese and mushrooms. I chose the sweet potato tot as my side and it comes with a brown sugar, butter dip that was delicious. I would definitely return here when I am in the area. The other good thing about this end of Butler Street is you can find parking on the street for free unlike the busy end of Butler Street."
"Forgot picture but got the fresh crab cake and it was delicious! Came with a creamy risotto and veggies mix. $28 seemed a bit steep though Service was good The dining area is meh but the bar looked bright and inviting!Plenty of parking"

Real talk: I went on a date here with a funny, witty, beautiful person...we talked for hours and never got bored, it was intoxicating.I'm not tryna brag, I'm just tryna keep it real. It's pretty much impossible for me to be unbiased in reviewing this local watering hole. This place is maybe the fanciest you can go and still call yourself a "dive bar". While it does have cheap 'n crispy brews like IC Light...it also has delightfully bougie cocktails, including my favorite cocktail of all time: penicillin. Of which I drank many! The bar was rowdy and bustlin' but the drinks just kept comin'. It was light when I stepped in here, and dark when I came out.I hope you have half as good of a time as I had here, dear reader.

We stopped here after Steelers training camp and a quick visit to the stadium. We decided to go further from the baseball and football stadiums to find something where we didn't have to wait. This was the place around 5pm on a Saturday. It got busy literally 20 minutes after we got there. We were a party of 5 and loved our server, our table, the beer, and the food! All of us would come back here again.

I'm not a fan but you might be. Had a sandwich with fried chicken which was mostly fried and not chicken. It fell apart and by itself chicken was tasteless. Needed the breading etc for flavor. Burger would have been better choice

I would say that it's safe to disregard most of the aspects of the reviews that are prior to 2016, which is when the bar changed ownership (from what I understand). This bar has quickly become one of my favorites and many of my friends agree. With a fun diverse menu (for a bar) AND a smoke-free environment, it's hard not to like this casual and friendly neighborhood meet-up. The location is convenient and the charm is all there, especially since this house-turned-bar is nestled in among the quiet residential streets of Avalon. The bartenders have quickly learned our name and are quite hospitable. The same goes for the chef, who is not only talented but seems caring about quality and pleasing the customer. Their fish sandwich deal is one of the best around - scrumptious, satisfying, and only $5 when on special. Drinks are cheap and sometimes the pool table in the back is free along with the jukebox. Give this bar a try and you shouldn't be disappointed!

"Ordered 12 dry rub ranch wings on grubhub and asked for extra seasoning. When you got home I realized that they did indeed give me extra ranch seasoning (most places say they will but actually never do). The wings were stellar! I like my wings fried hard and that's just what I got. Definitely will be going to this place alot now that I know the food is A1"
