"Great option for eating clean & healthyThe salads are all huge and full of yumminess to the last bite. The dressings are so delicious and the service is top notch. Ms Melissa is truly the sweetest so make sure you say Hi"
"It was decent - lots of food and super crowded. The ordering experience was a little complicated."
"This has to be the best Hook Fish and Chicken spot in Pittsburgh. I ordered takeout from here on a Friday night through grub hub and my order was done right on time. I had to park behind the building since there isn't any on street parking. But it was free and I also noticed another lot near too. We ordered chicken wings that came with fries and Coleslaw and catfish nuggets that also came with the same sides. It was so good. Even my 2 year old gobbled it all down. Her favorite was definitely the coleslaw! Will definitely be back again."
"Fantastic wings and white fish. Such a nice restaurant and sweet owner. Onion rings were a perfect side."
"Let's start this review off by saying my entire family is OBSESSED with Walid's. We tried it for the first time when I became a homeowner this past year and I needed to feed my moving crew. I got enough food to feed 8 people and it was less than $100 which is unbeatable for the quality of the food. We love it!I ordered the same menu items this past weekend and both times I've ordered here it's been incredible. We got the big family pan of chicken and the big family pan of cod fish. Both were super fresh, crispy, and flavorful. The fries were just coming out of the fryer when we arrived, so we had no doubts they'd also be delicious. For the price and how amazing the food is at Walid's, it's easy to say we have a local favorite that we will visit time and time again. I'd recommend this spot to anyone looking for some great fried comfort food!"
"My wife doesn't like pizza too much so if she recommends a pizza place and mentions we should go there that has to mean something! It did! We drove past this place on the way to somewhere else and my wife remembered in her college days that they had some really good pie. So we said we would come back one day. A week later we found ourselves in the same area again and we decided to stop by and see if they still had that same great pizza. We walk in and it's a dive bar. No big deal we have been to many dive bars but do they have good pie? We walked into the bar area and there was a customer who is sitting at the bar by himself who greets us. Then the lady bartender comes in to say hi too. She was really nice. We got a couple beers and told her we wanted to order a pizza to go. We planned on taking this pizza to a brewery to enjoy it. Nothing against this place but we didn't really want to stay too long. The first time I order a pizza from somewhere I usually just want cheese and pepperoni. Once they pass my test I adventure to other toppings. So we ordered a 8 cut pizza and my wife got Mushrooms (yuck) and jalapenos on her side. The gentleman at the bar was polite and offered us dinner mints because he said the cops wont arrest you for a DUI around here if you have good breath. I said thanks but no thanks LoL! Our pizza came out and settled up our check and we left. Again the lady was nice and as long as this pizza was good we would come back and do the same thing. We headed to the brewery to eat the pizza. It smelled really good. We did get sidetrack because there was a Big Lots on the way and we stopped for some supplies. Finally when we sat down at the brewery and opened up the pie it was a little cool but still warm enough to enjoy. My wife is right about a lot of things and she was really right on this pizza. It was really good. This is one of the best sauces on a pizza that I've tasted and the crust was sturdy and held up the pie very well. I wasn't expecting too much from this place but I was impressed. Carrie said this is how it was when she was in college and it's this sauce that is very good. Who knew that such a good pie could come out of a dive bar like that. So our plan is to go back here sometime in the future order a few beers while our pizza is baking and then head to a brewery to eat our pizza. Done and Done!"

This is some of the best food I have ever had the pleasure of eating. It's so fresh, and the chicken is so flavorful! I got the pesto wrap, it was bursting at the seems with fresh lettuce. The pesto/peanut sauce is AMAZING. I also got a cookie-BEST COOKIE I HAVE EVER EATEN. You can see into the kitchen and it is so clean!!! The service was IMPECCABLE. They have these cute little tables out front to sit and eat at. My friend and I shoved our faces full and between full bites could not stop saying "this is so delicious", or "so fresh!", or my favorite was "if I had 100K I would invest in her business" or even "I could write a whole romance novel about this lunch". It was so so so worth it. Great prices and great food. Honestly they could charge more if they wanted to- it's that good. 10/10 EVERYTHING. Love to see a business with such a cute aesthetic, clean kitchen, and WONDERFUL FOOD.

A hidden gem!! A cozy sports bar restaurant. The menu is perfect for the smaller size of the place. The food portions are great and the flavors are amazing- the Old Bay seasoning in the tartar sauce is a new on me - so good!!! The drink selection has locals and bid name brands. It was clean and well managed. The service was pleasant and quick. I will be back!

Wow. Straight up this place is special. No need to read any further... just go and order food from them now. Get the tenders. Get the catfish. Experience the euphoria that is The Seasoning. Even the sweet coleslaw. Do it now!!If you insist on having details, here you go... About a week ago I was driving into town for work and found this place on yelp. I had to try this place that people online were saying was the best fried chicken they ever had. In Pittsburgh though? So I stopped by... and 4 more stops later (all in less than 10 days)... I can confirm they have the some of the best chicken I've ever had. And yes in Pittsburgh!!I came for the tenders. But switched up when I saw the catfish on the menu. Ate the catfish. It was amazing. On par with and maybe even surpassing the best I've had in the Carolinas or Georgia or anywhere else on the east coast. Not trying to be sacrilegious - I have the utmost respect and love for southern cooking but this place here in Homestead, just outside downtown Pittsburgh, is the real. The big single catfish filet (for the sandwich) is nicely fried but still tender. Lightly crispy. Fresh and light/flaky inside. And the seasoning... transubstantiation in powder form (legal powder form!). All comes together perfectly. I ate it so quickly that I thought maybe I should try the tenders too. I bought 4 pieces thinking I'd eat one now and heat up the others in the hotel late night or the following day. I ate all four before I got to the car! :) With no sauce too!! I'm a huge sauce person and I didn't need a drop. It was that good. The chicken is expertly cooked with flavor all the way through the meat. It's so soft it almost falls apart. And the breading is crispy and flavorful. Some of their special seasoning seals the deal as the best tenders on Earth. The fries are excellent. The Seasoning works it's magic on this too. The coleslaw was sweet and chopped finely. Just the way I like it. The sides were delicious. Hope to try others next time. For to-go orders, they use a rubber band to keep the container closed. Not only is this a good solution to keep things tidy, it's nice to have to shoot at the family before we eat. :)Special note about the staff. I've met several over the last 4 trips here and they are all super friendly and nice. Fast too. The owner was great. Greeted me personally and had a nice chat with him. Good to hear about him and his dad running the place and single handedly getting the place ready for business. And they did a fantastic job. The restaurant itself is deceptively spacious and both the seating area and the restrooms are super clean (as a neat freak, this is important to me). I think there are other locations... but THIS is the one to go to. Food + value + friendly staff = you can not miss! There's even an Aldi parking lot across the street you can easily park in.Overall, a purely wonderful experience. Give it 6 stars if I could.P.S. The only thing I found strange was the light sensor in the bathroom (it's a large single person bathroom) seems to be a little far from the toilet... so while using it, the lights can go off (since the sensor thinks there's no one in the room). Nothing a wave of the arm can't fix. But it's is a little jarring the first time. (So.... Why are you still reading this? Go order now!)

Got the wings and a prayer for lunch - perfectly fried chicken. Will be back for the ribs sometime soon. Nice owner/chef and easy to get to in the East End. Yes, there was a prayer in with the wings.

I would say that it's safe to disregard most of the aspects of the reviews that are prior to 2016, which is when the bar changed ownership (from what I understand). This bar has quickly become one of my favorites and many of my friends agree. With a fun diverse menu (for a bar) AND a smoke-free environment, it's hard not to like this casual and friendly neighborhood meet-up. The location is convenient and the charm is all there, especially since this house-turned-bar is nestled in among the quiet residential streets of Avalon. The bartenders have quickly learned our name and are quite hospitable. The same goes for the chef, who is not only talented but seems caring about quality and pleasing the customer. Their fish sandwich deal is one of the best around - scrumptious, satisfying, and only $5 when on special. Drinks are cheap and sometimes the pool table in the back is free along with the jukebox. Give this bar a try and you shouldn't be disappointed!

Would leave 100 stars if I could. I've never eaten so well for such an affordable price, nor have I ever been treated so well by staff or ownership. We left feeling loved and stuffed, and we cannot wait to come back!

"Ordered 12 dry rub ranch wings on grubhub and asked for extra seasoning. When you got home I realized that they did indeed give me extra ranch seasoning (most places say they will but actually never do). The wings were stellar! I like my wings fried hard and that's just what I got. Definitely will be going to this place alot now that I know the food is A1"
"We travel to Minerva here and there, and I always like stopping at Hollands for breakfast on Saturday prior to visiting with family. I was disappointed to hear that it was sold, and I had feared it wouldn't reopen...and if so, that it wouldn't be the same.I can confirm it did in fact reopen, and from what I can tell the same items are on the new menu, just pricier than before. I regularly get the sausage biscuits and gravy with a coffee, it is now $6-7. Very unique flavor, still tastes the same...although I have to say pretty expensive for what you get...that is more expensive than Bob Evans.New owner was nice and greeted us half way through the meal. Place was busy and we had to sit for a while (10-15m) before getting any attention. New waitresses seemed nice, but tough to replace the ones in there before that ran house!"
"Lunch was delicious and our server was top notch. She helped with recommending what we should have, which did not disappoint. The pendulum room has a great feel, including some fun wall decor. Give it a try!"
"I really enjoyed the atmosphere-- big fan of the classic rock/modern rock tour posters. Very relaxed and clean atmosphere, and the manager was helpful and good to get to know as well. Love the mac and cheese, I really appreciated the variety of unique menu items-- I tried the Bleu Buffalo, it was flavorful with generous portions."
"Food is amazing here. Everything is home made. Even the kids chicken fingers are home made."
"I've been keeping my eye on this place near my Mom's house to see when they would be open. They finally are, so I gave them a try today. They're called "Heck Ya!", and features mostly hot dogs, with Italian sausage and kielbasa thrown into the mix, as is expected in Youngstown.I went with one Super Dog and one Filly Dog. The Filly Sauce is what they call chili sauce. The Super Dog is a hot dog with Filly Sauce, onions, and jalapeño coleslaw. The Filly Dog is your basic chili dog with chili, mustard and onions. Both were very good, using Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs as the vessel for the slaw and sauce. The slaw was good, but not too spicy even with the jalapeños. The chili had was on the meatier side, mild and had a good tangy flavor. Service was friendly and they're still working out some kinks as they just recently opened. Was it worth it? Heck Ya!"
