The main thing we come for is the lemon-berry ricotta pancakes on the breakfast menu; however, they have a yummy, innovative menu for lunch & dinner as well. Our food and coffees were served hot and fresh. Our server was friendly and efficient. The cafe itself is always busy yet super clean (even the bathroom) which is important to us. We highly recommend Square Cafe!"

We were seated within 20 minutes of our reservation time and had a great table with a view of Station Square and the river. Our server greeted us promptly and took our drink orders. I got a mojito which was very refreshing. The serving stations were abundant from salads to rolls to a carving station to the regular buffet line to desserts to a pasta station. Items included turkey, prime rib, shrimp, freshly made pumpkin donuts, among all the rest. Our server checked on us without us feeling rushed. It was a very worthwhile experience in a classic architectural building. Oh, and they have valet parking. I wish I had known beforehand to have saved us a walk from the parking garage."

I especially appreciated this since it was my friend and I and 5 kids total. The food was wonderful also. I ordered the funky monkey waffle. Omg! Mouth watering! My son ordered the chicken and waffles on the kids menu. It was so good and the fruit that came with it was great. My friend ordered breakfast tacos and they looked great. I tried a few of her chips and they were pleasantly tasty. We also ordered mimosas and they were great! I can't say enough. I appreciate the excellent service and I am very happy we decided on waffles incaffeinated today."

Wait times can be lengthy as this is such a popular spot and right on the fringes of the University of Pittsburgh campus, but do not let that dissuade you from giving it a go!The wait staff was attentive, and the coffee pots flowed continuously throughout our visit. My wife and I each ordered a breakfast platter, and we shared them both.Wife's traditional breakfast consisted of the usual suspects of eggs, potatoes, bacon and some very unusually thin pancakes (which turned out to be the star of the show!). I ordered a plate of corned beef hash which came with over easy eggs and buttered toast. They practically had to roll us out of there after the meal, but man was it worth it!"

"We bought tickets to Ritual House's Harry Potter Chef's Dinner for yesterday and we had such a fun time! You walk in and get sorted into a house via the Sorting Hat and get a glass of bubbly that corresponds to your house. You pick your seat from one of the seven tables (each with a detailed centerpiece that corresponds to one of the seven books) and the six courses of food and drinks begin! I thought the food was delicious and liked how they had a mocktail option for each course.I was really impressed by the level of attention to detail. From the intricate centerpieces to the floating candles and keys to the themed food and drinks, I thought it was well worth the money ($135 during their Black Friday sale + taxes and fees). I was so full that I ended up taking most of the last three courses of food home! The staff was super nice and accommodating. They did a great job accommodating my friend's seafood allergy and even hunted down a to go cup for my leftover Butterbeer mocktail. I really enjoyed everyone I interacted with yesterday night."

The menu includes foods such as soups, salads, burgers, tacos, BBQ ribs, crab cakes, filet mignon, scallops, lamb, and creme brûlée and beverages such as beers, cocktails, whiskeys, and wines. Please see my attached photos for the menu in February 2024. My husband and I had a reservation for lunch on a Saturday. We arrived after 11 AM, and many tables were available. A seating hostess kindly greeted us and soon seated us at a spacious and clean table. Our waitress spoke very nicely to us and provided timely and accurate service. Here are my husband's and my reviews for our foods:Crab dip - 4 stars - This crab dip contained not only crab but also corn, red peppers, and spinach. On the side were several pieces of Cajun-flavored pita bread. This dip and pita tasted good, but my husband commented that he would prefer that it not contain corn.Bison burger - 4 stars - The bison patty was cooked medium as I had requested, and it was topped with fresh lettuce, onion, cheese, horseradish mayonnaise, bread, etcetera. I ate most of it. For my side, I chose French fries, and they were properly fried and seasoned.Fried-chicken sandwich - 4 stars - My husband ended up taking the chicken out of the bread buns and eating only the chicken. My husband chose a side of onion strings. He said that this entree was good.If I return to the Mars area again, then I would feel happy to try more of Breakneck Tavern's foods. Maybe I will try their crab cakes and ribs in a future dinner..."

I got queso with brisket which was great and the chips were so thin and crunchy. The pulled pork with both bbq sauce options was also a high light. The mac n cheese was super cheesy and i love breaded fries although these were a tad salty for me personally. Overall great meal, very very fair price, and nice and friendly staff. Justin P. "This could have been a 5 star. The food is really good. The service? Not so much. My first experience, I had to ask for silverware 3 times. After every time, the waitress would return and ask if we needed anything else. Every time "silverware" and she would go get it, return and ask if we needed anything else. Again, "silverware". Today's visit, it wasn't just the silverware. It was that, after our waitress delivered our food. She looked sounds good the table and asked if we needed anything else. Silverware and condiments. She did promptly return with it all. Another reason for the 3 stares, it took nearly an hour to get our food from when we were seated. We were acknowledged immediately upon being sat, yet an hour wait. This, while we watched others around who arrived around the same time, ate, paid and left. It took another 20 or so minutes for her to return for us to pay. I'll return one more time. If this is the norm, I'll move on to another eatery. The unfortunate aspect of this? We are habitual with places we eat. Once we like a place, we visit weekly. A few simple customary components can make or break a loyal customer."

I was deciding between the veggie sandwich, soup, or tuna nicoise salad. I decided to order the salad, which I learned was premade in the cooler. It was okay, and I loved the assortment of olives. It wasn't great though, and the serving size was small compared to other lunch places that offer similar salads. The dressing options were a champagne or red wine vinaigrette. I was glad that they had a few seats inside so I could eat it there. As soon as it hit 12:30, the lunch rush filed in. I recommend going early! 11:45 am seemed to be the perfect time for no line. I will definitely eat there again soon and plan to try the veggie sandwich of the month!"

For holidays I pre-order, but on Saturday, I naively thought arriving at 9am I would avoid the rush. Wrong! There was a line out the door. The parking lot was jammed (it is small). But I did make my way to the front quickly and they had the quiche Lorraine I was seeking. It was delicious and rich, but anyone considering it should expect to pay a little more for that goodness. Carrie N. "We came here for brunch a few Sundays ago. They do not accept reservations, but they have a waitlist and will let you know via text message where you are in line and estimated wait. We got here a little after 2pm. It was intended, I thought maybe by then it would not be too busy. I. Was. Wrong. The gal who checked us in told us we have 4 people in front of you and we close at 3pm. It was packed and very loud, more on that later. We accepted the challenge and got on the wait list. To kill time, we strolled the streets of Lawrenceville in the rain. When we got back to the restaurant we were quickly seated and given two water glasses and no water. We looked at the menu while we waited so I knew what I was ordering. The server came to our table quickly and I ordered an espresso martini and the VEGETARIAN CHORIZO CUBANO, no cheese. It came with fries or a side salad, I opted for the salad with their house made champagne vinaigrette. My drink was delivered very quickly, it was decent. The noise in this place was so loud you would have thought you were at a bar watching the Steelers win a super bowl. I mean so loud, I could not hear my husband or anything else for that matter. Apparently, it was one of the employees last day of service so they were celebrating like they won the lotto. IDK maybe they did. But for such a small place it was way too loud. Our food came out almost as quickly as my drink, but we had no water and no silverware. I asked (more like yelled) when a server passed to ask for water and silverware. Silverware came but no water. We saw the one server give another server a carafe and that server gave it to another table. So, I waited a little bit longer to see the server again and asked again for water, he apologized, and we finally got water. So, the standouts the dressing was delicious. I immediately wanted to buy it. Very good, highly recommended. The sandwich was ok. The bread was soft and the I liked the addition of the mushrooms, but I am pretty sure the chorizo was just the morning star brands with mushrooms added. I appreciate there being vegan/vegetarian options, but I would have really liked something a little more homemade. Could have used scrambled tofu with a spicy red pepper sauce or soy crumbles and made their own sauce. If that wasn't Morning Star, I would be shocked.Overall, a nice place, I would come back especially with a little less rowdiness and maybe get a salad with the delicious dressing."
