I usually end up taking half home. I've tried almost all the sides and can't go wrong with any of them. My favorite is the mac and cheese. It's convenient to the cultural district or even a short walk to the stadiums across the river."

The coach did call ahead, and they were able to accommodate about 30 of us with about an hour's notice. The place was incredibly clean, open, & inviting. The hostess & the waitresses were very friendly & extremely patient with our large group. We felt very relaxed and were served in a timely manner. The wife & I split a pizza with peppered bacon/roasted red peppers & some potato wedges. Both were fantastic. One kid had chicken fritters, and the ither had cheese pizza. They were both happy & full! The potato wedges were seasoned perfectly & rater large. The pizza had fantastic sauce and doughy thin perf3ct crust.Others in the party got a steak salad (maybe the Pittsburgh salad?) & mac n' cheese that looked incredible. We will definitely be back, I want to dive into the beer selection & try out a burger and/or ribs.It felt immediately comfortable even though we had never been there.I felt like the prices were reasonable for the amount & quality of the food."

It turns out that they still do that. The salads are still served in a mixing bowl that's as big as my face and they taste delish. It's impossible to finish the entire salad but it doesn't stop me from trying. The vibe is always laid back and chill and I'm going to have to start cistising again. I'm just here for the $6 mimosa Sundays and the fries on the salad."

These came in a pretty big paper bag and were suuuuper tasty. Brisket.... Just right. I think I got a little of each sauce and had fun dipping little pieces of it to try them all. The sauces were all great. But I liked the mustard one best. The burnt ends were my favorite. The sausage was spiiiicy! But so, so tasty! Collard greens were some of the best I've had. I couldn't eat it all and ended up eating the rest for lunch the next day. You definitely get your moneys worth. The kids got burgers and were very happy with them. The gal at the counter was super helpful and patient with the indecisive teens. It's probably a good idea I don't live nearby or I'd be here on the regular."

Tiffany Y. "Breakneck Tavern is a restaurant and bar that has a casual atmosphere, excellent service, and solidly good food. The menu includes foods such as soups, salads, burgers, tacos, BBQ ribs, crab cakes, filet mignon, scallops, lamb, and creme brûlée and beverages such as beers, cocktails, whiskeys, and wines. Please see my attached photos for the menu in February 2024. My husband and I had a reservation for lunch on a Saturday. We arrived after 11 AM, and many tables were available. A seating hostess kindly greeted us and soon seated us at a spacious and clean table. Our waitress spoke very nicely to us and provided timely and accurate service. Here are my husband's and my reviews for our foods:Crab dip - 4 stars - This crab dip contained not only crab but also corn, red peppers, and spinach. On the side were several pieces of Cajun-flavored pita bread. This dip and pita tasted good, but my husband commented that he would prefer that it not contain corn.Bison burger - 4 stars - The bison patty was cooked medium as I had requested, and it was topped with fresh lettuce, onion, cheese, horseradish mayonnaise, bread, etcetera. I ate most of it. For my side, I chose French fries, and they were properly fried and seasoned.Fried-chicken sandwich - 4 stars - My husband ended up taking the chicken out of the bread buns and eating only the chicken. My husband chose a side of onion strings. He said that this entree was good.If I return to the Mars area again, then I would feel happy to try more of Breakneck Tavern's foods. Maybe I will try their crab cakes and ribs in a future dinner..."

It doesn't seem like much from the outside, but boy were we pleasantly surprised. The service was phenomenal, and we were served quickly. I got the lasagna with meat sauce, which was loaded with layers and smothered over the top with the meat sauce. It was amazing and a huge portion. My husband got the veal parmesan sandwich, which was humongous! It was bigger than his head. The veal was fried to perfection, the cheese melted and oozing, and the cherry on the top was the crunch crispiness of the bread. We will have leftovers for days, and we only spend about $16 for each dish. Huge portions, low prices, and amazing quality. You literally cannot ask for anything more. Hands down 5 stars to this restaurant and a must visit in Pittsburgh."

I visited on a Friday night and managed to snag the last table in the main dining area prior to live music starting. My husband and I both were impressed by the reasonable prices and the cozy ambiance right off the bat, and we were quickly visited by our server. We tried two apps (deep fried deviled eggs and cheese curds), both were excellent, and my husband tried the 2-meat combo while I tried the pulled pork nachos for dinner. Everything was fresh and flavorful! Very smokey flavor, very generous portions, all accompanied by great local folk music. We also loved the 2.50 Yuengling on tap! They also offer local craft beer and Boyd and Blair cocktails, which is nice. I'd love to return for more live music and to try more of the menu! The sandwiches look great, as does the mac & cheese. Lucky to have this hidden gem spot nearby, especially given that BBQ as a cuisine is so sparse in Pittsburgh!"

It took me a few visits before I tried the food, and I'm a little sad it took me as long as it did. Their French dip was pretty good, but I do wish that there was a horseradish sauce option. Now, of course, that's totally just my opinion because, frankly, I'm a sucker for some horseradishy beef. However, now that I've had their Mahi Mahi appetizer tacos, I don't think I'm getting anything else again. They are ahhhhmazing. The bar itself is dark and definitely has a late night spot ambiance. If you're looking for somethingto do, they do have karaoke and trivia nights. We did end up here around 4 pm after Bridgeville Day with a slew of kids and felt perfectly welcome, though. I wouldn't go with my kiddo past 6ish, but for an early dinner option, it worked just fine. I've also attended an after funeral dinner here, and the staff was wonderful and very attentive to the guests. It's a bit of an anomaly in terms of how to categorize it, but it's a big favorite here."

It was delicious and perfectly seasoned!I got the tomahawk pork chop which was juicy and crispy on the outer edge, the way I like pork chops! I was seated within five minutes and still was given the option of indoor/outdoor and high-top/regular.My phone rang almost as soon as I was seated so I was obnoxiously on my phone, but my server, Julie, expertly dropped off water and came back when she saw me off the phone. Beyond that, I asked if they had flavored lemonade... they do not have flavored lemonade. But because I asked, Julie found a way to make it happen. I ended up with a peach lemonade that I would highly recommend (if they did in fact have flavored lemonade).I ordered the Bianca pizza which has figs, arugula, truffle oil, and goat cheese. I appreciate that they plate the pizza with Parmesan and crushed red peppers on the side so you don't even have to ask. I finished mine off with a little salt to heighten the flavors a bit, but that to me is more personal taste preference because the flavors were there and they were fresh and delicious. It's a good sized pizza. I only finished half so this would be great to share. And the mind blowing part to me was that I walked away with an under $20 bill! Chicagolandian here, so maybe it's just an area thing, but this exact same meal around Chicago would've been at least $35 before the tip."

The music was on point all evening. We came after a Pirates game and it was slammed, after waiting for five minutes we got a table. The food here is homey. Massive portions and definitely proper pub food. Went with the fish sandwich, Cajun meatloaf and Mac and cheese. The fish sandwich is massive. It needs sauce, so make sure to coat the boat in provided tarter. The meatloaf had a nice kick and was smothered in perfectly cooked onions. The Mac and cheese was good, albeit not the most amazing and didn't live up to the hype for me. I would, however, order it again.
