The course itself is fun to play and really pretty. The price point is decent. Around $30 a person for 9. I wish the location of the course was easier to get to though, there isn't really a direct highway or route from Pittsburgh to the course. (Not that I knocked off any stars for this reason but make sure you give yourself some time to get out there). The upkeep of the greens is average maybe a bit above. I found both times I've gone and both carts rented, that the carts breaks are really touchy and annoying, and the paths are really bumpy too. The shooting range is decent and reasonably priced. I like that you tee up or hit from grass rather than fake grass. It helps improve your game more and work or a variety of circumstances rather than hitting from short fake grass.

A decent course kept in good shape. The asphalt cart path tracks are in serious need of patching and repair in many spots. Reasonable cost, friendly employees, and the course layouts are good...a mix of easy and challenging holes. Worth trying your skills. Hit 'em straight!

This is my usual spot for golf. They have two courses, Wood side and Lake side. Both are kept really well...even during this rainy summer they are not totally flooded and you still can golf with ease.Prices are reasonable! Best deal is Twilight golf. Nine holes for $18 with a cart. They also have different passes available to purchase. I have the twilight pass which is $169. Good entire calendar year. You pay for cart each time ($7) or walk for no extra charge. What I never understand here and other course is if I get a cart, it's $7 (here), but if my friend golfs with me in my cart it's $7 additional. We could both get our own carts, however I feel like if you share the cart, it should be discounted between the two. Anyways...I'd like to think I'd walk, but who would hold my beer?Drinks are priced well and they have some great food. Wing night, daily specials on drinks and food. The decor is older, but the service is great. Pro shop has a small selection...more ladies' stuff than typical pro shops. I always wonder why they don't have more ladies' apparel. We shop!Lots of clinics and event nights to get new golfers in and plenty of leagues. What I really like about this course is that it's really women friendly. Some courses still haven't realized that Title IX is in place. Butler's is with the times on this. Grab your driver and hit a few rounds at this place.

Do not come here unless you want to play a 6.5 hour round of golf for 50 bucks. Greens are torn up. Cart paths are destroyed, tee boxes are the same as the rough.. one of the worst public courses around here. Never coming back.

We recently held a 50th high school reunion golf outing at BUTLER'S Golf Course. Although our Group only consisted of about 24 people, we were treated just as if we were a very large group. We were allowed to have a shotgun start and the staff at Butler's was most helpful. The course is in great shape and we had a fantastic day. Many of our golfers enjoyed a great meal at the restaurant following our golf. Would recommend BUTLER'S to both golfers and diners.

I've played both lakeside and wood side courses over the years, but unfortunately it sad to see the place slowly go downhill. Played the wood side course this past week and the cart paths are just horrible. I guess they will wait til their carts are destroyed and have to replace the carts and paths. There was also a lack of ball washers on the tee boxes. Hope they turn it around. The course itself was in decent shape.

While the fairways and greens aren't bad, the clientele continues to decline. Playing loud music on the course (who does that???), foul language, and appalling dress (actually NO shirt and yes of course...men). This seems to becoming the norm. No rangers to remove these idiots from the golf course. What a shame, the country side is beautiful, but it's filled with people who shouldn't be on a golf course!

Due to a mistake by facility, our game was interrupted. Bummer. Very pretty course otherwise.

Probably the most played public golf courses in Western Pa, The Woodside and Lakeside at Butlers' are always in excellent condition, but not manicured.Green fees are more expensive than other courses if the same caliber. The employees are not pleasant usually, especially the ladies working in the pro shop. The Woodside's final 4 finishing holes are especially a challenge.

If you are wise, you will eat at the Club House and enjoy a great breakfast. If you are looking for a page out of a horror movie on the other hand, stay at the John Butler B &B. Please, for those of you thinking of staying at the B&B, please read this for it will save you time, frustration, and from sleeping in a run down old home. We waited to check in for 4 hours, then we finally called the Club House to see what the heck is going on and where is the Inn Keeper. The response was, "OH, she is off today and has the cell phone with her, that's probably why she is not answering it". Yeap, really ! One they figured that one out, they sent over a young man who was nice and told us, "this happens all the time", as he rolled his eyes. Finally we gained entrance to the B&B after finding out the key was under the mate all along. This piece of information would have been helpful 4 hours ago, but we made the best of it and the manager showed up with some snacks and beer and apologized for the mess. The room was small and had two small single beds that we pushed together & then realized the bathroom was in the hallway area and not in our room. It was extremely humid and stuff and the house was empty except for us, we looked around and wondered where the guy was with the chain saw and the mask. I finally located the house thermostat and turned down to 70* F to cool off extremely stuffy house. The beds were blocking the vents so we moved them once again and then noticed the wall paper. The was a border of cats all around the room and it was like being in and old Alfred Hitcock movie where the eyes were gleaming at you. After the night finally ended in a pitch dark house, we finally managed to sleep for a few hours due to exhaustion, rain and a long flight and jet lag. In the morning, we used out vouchers to have breakfast at the golf course Club House to return at 11:00 am with some crazy woman wondering why we were still there ??? She sternly told us that the check out time was 11:00am and she had plenty to due and could not wait around for us to get our stuff and get out. I told the cranky woman that we did not get in the room to very late and the whole story, she could have cared less and ask when we would be out ! Ok, I told her, when we are ready, we will leave your haunted old creepy house. As we got closer to leave, she looked in on us and shook her head and then kept doing other things. We took our time and made sure we had all our things and got the Hell Out ! So, if you wanted to be treated like crap and like freaky places, this is the place for you, but like most of us who want good service and a nice place to stay, I will give you these words of advice , "Don't waste your money & use your Marriot rewards points on a nice place by the airport as we did the following nights". I give the Club House two thumbs up on the breakfast and the service, but on the other hand I give the B&B a "HELL NO" ! Just to let you know, my wife and myself travel often and have been to some of the B&B's in Ca., so this should not even be called a B&B since you get a voucher for breakfast and jog over to the Club House to eat ? What up with that one ? So please find a better place to stay then here... Blessings, Stirby
