Blackhawk Specialty Foods is a purveyor of meats that has been serving Beaver County and beyond for many years. As a Christmas gift, Kay's parents bought us an assortment of frozen kielbasa, sweet sausage, chicken parts, and steaks from BSF much to our surprise and delight. So far so delicious. The thawed ribeye steaks I cooked for myself this evening to mid-rare were as perfect as this fledgling home cook could muster (thanks be to youtube). An order can be placed by phone or by visiting their storefront. Allow a few days to a week for your order to be ready for pick-up. If you live in this area you would do well to make a purchase in the near future.

I stop here every year when I come to the area. I remember the first time I drove by the place and knew I wanted to stop in and look around. The first thing I noticed was the fresh smell of the meats and it reminded me of the old meat market my family owned. I purchased assorted sausages and some other items in the store. I will honestly say the sausage is the leanest I have ever bought in my life. The breakfast links are to die for, they are plump when you go to fry them, and stay that way when they are done. Cheap Fatty ones shrink and leave you with a greasy mess to clean up. All the sausage I buy there is excellent, and good bacon to. I recommend this shop to anyone looking for a good old fashioned meat market with high quality foods.

My wife and I are newer to the area, and stopped here. Before going in we decided to walk across the street to look at stuff at a yard sale. A man - I assume the owner - came outside and yelled. I went in to talk with him, and he said I couldn't park there. His lot was for "paying customers only". I told him that we were coming inside for lunch, but that we just wanted to look across the street at the yard sale first. He told me to park on the other side of the street and drive back when I was done. He was very rude. I told him I would not come back, and he responded "Don't let the door hit you on the way out." The parking lot was completely empty, besides us being there. There wasn't a sign stating the lot was "paying customers only." I will sooner inconvenience myself, than stop for lunch or anything at this store. There are plenty of other places to stop in Chippewa just a few miles away. I rated the "Food" 0 since I was too rudely treated to have an appetite and try it.
