Anvil + Ax

Fun cocktails and yummy little plates ! Experienced and friendly bartenders make it an enjoyable addition to any evening out!

I have really mixed feelings about this place. I stopped here a while back after some shopping in Morgantown. I was looking for a nice bar for a cocktail and appetizer by myself, and I found the Anvil and Ax (inside the Hotel Morgan) menu via google and decided to stop. Street parking is available all around. The doorman was so nice! There were several couples at the bar, so I sat at one of the tables near the bar. It took a while for the bartender to come over to me and give me a menu. I ordered the french martini and asked if there was a food menu available. She said they didn't serve food until later in the day, even though the online menu said otherwise. My martini was great. Service was subpar. She set my martini on the edge of the bar and I had to go up and get it- no big deal, I just thought it was odd since they weren't busy. The bartender never came back over to me; I went up to the bar to close out and pay my bill like 15 minutes after I finished my drink. There are certainly some kinks to work out, especially with service, but this place has potential to be very nice!

Does not accept reservations despite what online accounts say. It seemed like a great place to grab a drink, had a private event going on so couldn't stay to enjoy. Made a reservation on OpenTable but arrived and was told they don't even take reservations.

The food was amazing! I ordered a burger from here as I was hungry and it is in the basement of my hotel. I wasn't excepting the gourmet juice burger with aged American cheese and amazing house made chips. 5/5
