Alberta's Pizza

It's mystery date night! Every other week I take my wife on a mystery dinner date, I tell her when to be ready and how to dress but not where we are going! Tonight was Alberta's Pizzeria.The vibe in this shop is so cool, I believe they used to be a food truck that is now brick and mortar. A really nice intimate space and really enjoyable experience. Disclaimer - I wanted to try like 5 different pizzas but we have a rule when trying a new pizza shop, we order plain or at max pepperoni to give every new pizza shop a fair shake and let the pizza speak for itself. I got the Jabroni - their house made mozzarella, pepperoni and chili flakes. This thing packed some heat and oh man was it really good. Very nice char, crispy edges, it's definitely a wood fired pizza so a little more chew (I'm more of a crispy New York style preference) but for a wood fired pizza this is really up there, definitely recommend. My wife got the white boy - house made mozzarella, garlic, pecorino romano, oregano, and a little rosemary. She really really liked this one and had to talk herself down from overeating. I do not like rosemary, but I tried it and really didn't get the rosemary, I found this to be almost as good as my pizza, really garlicky, lots of fresh herbalness and the cheese was fantastic. Another disclaimer - they add a 20% surcharge as a spread for all their employees, which was explained to us and I totally get it as well as adding an additional tip for the server which can go directly to them. I'd rather pay more for the food/drink but it's not my place to tell them how to run their business. It was on the menu and explained to us so no issues there at all! We will definitely be back!

I'd like to start by saying that the pizza here is absolutely fantastic! I'm only giving it four stars for a couple of reasons listed below, but this place is absolutely worth checking out. My husband and I went here for our Valentines date. As soon as we walked in, I loved the whole vibe and it was much larger than I anticipated. We wound up at a small table by the front window. Personally, I think the ambience was better at the bar. We will definitely do that the next time we visit. Our server was really awesome and explained the entire menu to us. I started with a casino cocktail, which was the perfect mix of sweet and tart. Our server recommended the meatballs, which he said were his absolute favorite. I typically go with what a server recommends and usually it works out for the best. However, the meatballs were overcooked and lost their moisture so that was a little disappointing. We couldn't make up our mind on what kind of pizza so I asked the server about a few different ones. One of my questions was on the speckman pizza, I wanted to know what speck was. At first he said he didn't know and then he said it was a type of cheese. When he walked away from the table, I decided to just look it up, and well it's actually cured ham. It's not a big deal that he didn't know what it was, it just would have been nice for him to find out instead of offering up an incorrect answer.We ultimately did decide on the Speckman pizza and it was delicious. The mushrooms on it were out of this world they had so much flavor. They make their mozzarella in-house, and it was fabulous! I know that they are using the best ingredients, but the pizzas are on the pricier side. We ended our night by sharing the tiramisu. It had good flavor, but I am a bit of a tiramisu critic and I prefer the lady fingers to be soaked through with the coffee/liquor mix. The ladyfingers were pretty dry.But this place definitely has amazing pizzas and we will be going back to try out some of the other pies!

We went on Valentine's Day to Alberta's. We enjoyed the lighting, overall ambience, service was great. We were both relaxed and felt welcomed into the space. We sat at the bar with a reservation. We appreciated how they spaced out the stools and didn't overcrowd the bar it made a huge difference in our experience. We got the fritto misto (ate so quickly forgot to take a photo), fresh lemonade, plum based bourbon drink on their menu, regular meatballs with pizza bread, and the hot sopp pizza. We truly loved everything and wished we had room for dessert. The fritto misto was a perfect portion. Meatballs were delivered in a thick homemade sauce which was perfect for dipping pizza crust into. The pizza had excellent sauce which was different from the meatballs and the crust was crunchy yet soft. We got our pizza well done which I recommend. The only downside to this restaurant was the pricing. It was definitely more expensive than a typical restaurant in pittsburgh for dinner. The prices for appetizers and pizzas on the menu were a good $2-3 too high. $25 for a wood fired pizza that could be eaten by one person is very high.

Enjoyed a cozy evening indulging in the good stuff at Alberta's pizza in Pittsburgh's north side. Cool vibes. Service moved at a good pace. Delicious cocktails & wood-fired pizza.

Finally tried Albertas!! Staff greeted us right away and took us to our table. We started with the cod croquettes, which will be added to the menu you want I believe next week and the calamari small plate. Both we good but we LOVED the cod croquettes! After that we shared pizzas- a margarita pizza and a sausage pizza. Absolutely loved the lighting and overall ambiance. Our server, Zen, was so sweet and I will be back to try her Zen's Za pizza!

I love Alberta's! I'd heard great things for years about their pizza when they operated out of their food truck, and even more great things once their brick and mortar location opened last year. Finally checked it out a few weeks ago for dinner and WOW is it good! The space itself is so cozy, chic, and elegant, it's nice enough for a date night spot but still casual enough to have a meal with family or friends. The pizza itself is perfect - great crust, fresh ingredients, no complaints. The tiramisu is also amazing and comes in an adorable mug! Everything came out swiftly and service was very organized. I want to return to try cocktails and appetizers (hello, oysters) as well as more pizza varieties. Stoked to have this spot in Pittsburgh, and can't wait to visit again soon!

This past Friday my boyfriend and I got last minute reservations for the bar here (need reservations for sure as it was busy and bar is not seat yourself)! All the food was really good, but we personally were super impressed with the tiramisu -- it might've been the best we've had in Pittsburgh. If you get the cod croquettes we recommend squeezing the lemon that comes with it on top; really takes it to the next level. Dim lighting and aesthetically super cute inside which would make it a good date spot! It was loud enough that you didn't feel like the other people sat at the bar or even the bar tenders were also listening / part of your conversation but not too loud where you couldn't hear eachother.

They were an exceptional food truck for 7 years, now they are a restaurant that's been open about a month.I was impressed by the food, the wine list, the staff and the ambiance. They have a traditional wood fired pizza oven, and the pizza is amazing.We also had the oysters and they were great (our server said the oysters were from Maine). The Calamari was delicious and the serving size was generous.

Great spot, not sure who we never stumbled upon it previously. Atmosphere was great as was food and wine. We had the beef carpaccio, beets and burrata which was awesome (just needed a piece of bread to sop up the oil!), and the gibroni pizza which was awesome. We also had a bottle of the super Tuscan. Wanted to try more things - next time!

What a beautiful space!! We sat at the bar on a weeknight and enjoyed the whole experience. Food is such great quality and the seafood was so fresh. The staff were wonderful and knowledgable on the menu. Will definitely be back again!
