Pisco Mar

So trying to find Pisco sours in the Raleigh-Durham area led us to Pisco Mar. A nice clean restaurant up on the second floor right across for the NCS campus. The pisco sours were delicious with lots of nice creamy egg whites. Then we had some delicious ceviche, fish with ajillo sauce and mixed fish piled with veggies. A very good dinner! Also go to their sister restaurant, Lucky Chicken, in Cary! A really good find. Go and have some of the best Peruvian food in North Carolina!

I guess I went when the staff wasn't there and the Chef was late or with the day off. My server / bartender was under age so no alcohol for us, even we went to enjoy a pisco sour.. We order food, empanadas to starter (never came) then a ceviche for me with extra "leche de Tigre" on the side.... (Got the ceviche but no extra leche de Tigre, the reason? we don't have enough ingredients to made more...)My wife dish was the main disappointment, she order a classic Peruvian dish (Arroz chaufa con Pollo) but got micro pieces of chicken (I mean MICRO) and a ton of rice... that's it! (Check the picture attached with this review)We saw the pictures online and the food looked amazing, like the general atmosphere, but based on our visit, I can't give this place more then 1 star....and I was been generous.Super disappointed. Oh I forgot to mention that we paid $18 for the plate of rice.....‍

Food was great as was Pisco sour. We had a lovely conversation with the owner I highly recommend!

Walking into a hillsborough street establishment, I wouldn't expect coming out of a meal at about 30 dollars per person. But that's not the reason why I give this place a three stars rating. It's merely bad location choice. However, the food here is... mediocre. I ordered 3 things. Ceviche(octopus, fish and shrimp), seafood rice and chicken chaufa. Let's start with the best item on the list. Chicken fried rice, basic. But that's what I expected, basic and slight aromatic. Chicken is moist and marinated. But the ceviche was a huge let down. Don't get me wrong. The seasoning was good. But the ingredients just weren't that fresh. Fish was quite mushy. Shrimp was fishy. The octopus was average. And the seafood rice, you can probably cook better ones at home. The reason I said that, is that you can tell they just drown cooked white rice in the saffron mix and serve it to you.Also, while seasoning is good, it's pretty much the same for every dishes. Pickled onion + cilantro. The is just not worth 30 per person.

Come on down come on down!! This place has blown my mind away. The decor of the restaurant is traditional and warming. You can see the blends of latin culture. My hubby and i were a little apprehensive because it's so tough to find great authentic latin cuisine.... this spot is worth the $2 parking down the street. We ordered the pollo a la pobresa and our favorite snack from Miami "papa rellena" . If you never had one, STUFF YOUR FACE. everything was cooked to perfection, tons of traditional flavors, and well priced. My message to the chef: DON'T CHANGE A THING, thank you

The food was amazing and the hostesses were delightful. Very authentic Peruvian - I highly recommend the Ceviche and Plantains.

Thus is my second time at Pisco Mar and I am in love! They have open floor seating as well as booths, I prefer to sit out on the dance floor under their lights and near the DJ! They have lively Latin music playing and wonderful service!They also have AMAZING food! The lomo saltado is my go to, the plating is very simple but the dish is so flavourful! Today I came in time for lunch and ordered the lunch special, a serving of meat with two sides for $8! The chicken was moist and fell off the bone, so delicious! I will say the sides fell flat for me, but the desserts here certainly make up for it! The guava cheesecake is a simple cheesecake topped with guava syrup, the flavour isn't as strong as I anticipated but it is still very satisfying! Overall, I will be returning again! A hidden gem out on Hillsborough street!

We got there 30 minutes before closing and the made us feel welcome. They were very nice and the food was excellent. I highly recommend the ceviche and lomo saltado.
