Pippin's Tavern

This was a serendipitous visit after a hard day of shopping on Michigan Avenue and Oak Street. We were searching for a bite to eat. We walked in and we were blown away by the ambiance. It was a great looking bar area. Downstairs is a much larger seating area. It was happy hour (3 -6), so we enjoyed 6$ wine and $1.50 oysters. My wife had the Turkey pot pie and I had the Sage Chicken. Both were delicious. The service was excellent and most of the staff very pleasant. Look for Jess or Joey as bartenders.I highly recommend this very affordable and tasty restaurant!

Some friends and I were visiting Chicago from Dallas. While walking around exploring the city, we became hungry and walked into the first restaurant we saw - Pippin's. OMG. What a great decision. Outside looking in, I expected basic food and service. However, the food was soooo good. We ended up ordering more AFTER finishing our meals and then went back another day. Highly recommend the drinks, the oysters (and I don't even eat raw oysters but these were amazing), the shrimp (WOW), the steak bites (CHEFS KISS), the butter cake (I CAN EAT 5 of these lol). Sit out on the patio during a nice day and eat up!

Sometimes it's just the simple things! I popped in for a salad at the bar yesterday. I didn't have a taste for anything heavy plus I was pressed for time. I've walked past this place a bunch of times, and on this day I decided to pop in. It was very chill and everyone was friendly, even the patrons. I enjoyed my $12 salad and a $16 Margarita in peace. The bartenders were very friendly and extremely welcoming. The way the lemon zest was spread over the Caesar salad as the finjshingntouch I needed for this fresh and crisp romaine salad what it needed.I'd have this salad over and over again! The portion was perfect

We stopped here just for drinks. We sat at the patio and had some wine and margaritas. Perfect location for people watching because it's not a crazy busy street. We were able to just relax and talk.The service was great! Our server checked on us regularly and made sure we had everything we needed. Would love to coma back and try their food!

We enjoyed a nice meal outdoors tonight. My husband and I both had prime rib. It was cooked correctly & had great flavor. It came with mashed potatoes, veggies, and a choice of soup or salad. Our server was very attentive. Overall good experience.

The service was pretty good. No complaints, except they could have been upfront about the pricing of iced tea and lemonade (an Arnold Palmer). They had to ring it as a "mocktail" which came to six dollars. I ordered the Irish Dip Sandwich with French fries. The bread was stale and hard. The roast beef was dry. Their version of au jus was ok. The fries were way too salty

Average food in a happening location. Happy Hour menu offered cheap but small charcuterie cones and draft beer. Close to Water Tower and Broadway Playhouse

Swung by Pippins to quickly grab a few drinks while out on a weekend. We ordered the espresso martinis. The martinis were huge and really good. The service wasn't great, the bartenders were cocky. The ambiance was like that of a dive bar. It's a good place to quickly grab drinks and go but I am not sure if it's a good place to hang and grab food.

It was okay. Not as good as the old Pippins tavern though. We stopped in for a drink and snack. Very average.

Pippins is my absolute favorite place to come for happy hour. Love the oyster and wine deal here, it's the quintessential spot for a patio happy hour with a friend. Maria and Denise are a huge reason for this. Maria is the BEST. She always makes our experience fun, and Denise is a friendly face that I always hope to see every time I come back. Thank you Pippins!
