Pillbox Tavern

To be honest I haven't yet had the privilege of dining here, although I certainly will. This post is about a certain employee named Barry who exhibited tremendous character. You see I lost a wallet while visiting Solano Beach and someone turned it in to Barry. Barry spent over a week trying to track me down to return my lost wallet. Barry refused to accept anything in return and spent significant time returning it to me. There are still good people in this world and Barry is one of them. The Pillbox Tavern is lucky to have someone like Barry there representing their brand. Barry, I hope to meet you soon and thank you in person. Thank you again for all you did.

Excellent bar/restaurant in Solana Beach...Nice outdoor patio as well as interior seating...food is really good, taco Tuesday's are the best, full size tacos and the prices are right, 4-6 dollars depending on the selection...nice craft beer selection and excellent service on our visit...they also have a very good happy hour available...will definitely return the next time in the area, RECOMMEND

My boyfriend and I tried this place yesterday and it was very good. I got a veggie quesadilla, it was delicious. My boyfriend got some chicken combo and ate every bite! The wine was very good. The vibe was on point! I would definitely come back. Thank you!

Lengthy wait (over one hour) for chili and chicken tortilla soup and chili. Chili was inedible. Thankfully the server took the meal off our check.

First rate pub grub, 8 at the table and no complaints, my pulled pork sandwich checked all the boxes. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive as well as just the right amount of "character" for near beach dining. More seating outside than in, which was a plus for all the doggos. Will definitely stop by again on the way home from Del Mar dog beach.

Service was amazing and the food was so good. We had the fish and chips per yelp recommendation hey were amazing. We will definitely come back.

We took a train to Solana Beach and came across this place for a late lunch. All the food that was being served looked very appealing. We ordered potato skins and a teriyaki platter with Mac salad, cilantro jalapeño rice and green salad. It was so yummy. BJ our waiter was very attentive, refilling our drinks and asking how we're doing. I will definitely go back!

What can I say but, one of the best places ever been to! Owner is super friendly and the best fish and chips I have had in a long time. They looked so good I forgot to take a picture of my plate. Next time though. Great beer as well. !! You will not be disappointed! This place rocks!

The food here is good. As in, it's really, really good. The fish and chips plate is awesome. The birria tacos are terrific. The rice which accompanies the tacos looks completely bland but it's not. It's wonderful. They pay attention to detail here. Someone is doing something really right in the kitchen.They've got interesting beers on tap and service is always friendly.Still totally kid-friendly and everyone seems to tolerate the youngsters just find. In fact, the staff was very playful with the kids who were there. Those of you who hate kids, get over yourselves.

Convenient spot for food after the beach, went here for dessert mud pie was delicious and the view for sunset was gorgeous
