Pikaichi

Pikaichi is hands down one of my favorite ramen spots in the Greater Boston area. I've been a loyal customer since they first opened in Super88 in Allston, and I've continued to enjoy their ramen at their newer Medford location. Over the past five years, the quality has been consistently excellent.The service is top-notch, and their prices are notably cheaper compared to other ramen joints in the area, yet the quality is still exceptional. The only downside is the occasional long wait and parking challenges, but it's well worth it.My go-to order is the Jigoku Ramen with extra noodles, chashu rice, and a whole egg added in, which usually comes out to about $16-17. The Jigoku has just the right amount of spice, and the portion size is generous for the price. I love adding the extra noodles to soak up the remaining broth and then pairing the rest with the rice. While some might find the broth a bit salty, I think it's perfectly balanced with the noodles and rice.Overall, Pikaichi remains one of my favorite ramen spots in the city, and I'll definitely keep coming back for more!

Small little ramen shop located close to west Medford! Interior designed with cute paper cranes strung up against the wall! Food was pretty good--especially the spicy miso ramen. Would get extra noodles if you have a larger appetite. The servers were attentive and kind! Will be coming back

Every time when I think of Pickaichi, I think of Pikachu!This place used to be in Allston years ago and this was my first time going to their new location and found it in an unassuming Medford neighborhood. I was going here as part of the 2023 Boston Ramen Crawl.I loved how they greet you in Japanese, doing their best to give you an authentic ramen shop feel. The staff definitely had their routine down.I had their Pika Miso and found the broth to be surprisingly good. It was rich with a nice touch of saltiness. The pork slices were thinner than I would have liked but it was tasty. The noodles were firm-chewy to the bite. I would suggest that if you're coming here with an appetite, be prepared to order maybe more pork or a second helping of ramen.The staff was very friendly so they get extra points for that.

To be seated, you'll need to check in on their tablet. Wait time is usually more than 30 mins. Service is excellent and timely. I ordered Jigoku ramen, pudding, and calpico lychee. Ramen was spicy with mild broth. Nooddle's texture was ok and meat toppings were delicious. Pudding has nice soft texture, I will eat this pudding anytime!!

We stopped in after a shopping trip, had to wait but that's because it's wildly popular, well worth the 25 min wait (they move tables quickly.). We had two bowls of delicious ramen, extra egg and extra noodles. Couldn't believe the broth was plant based, absolutely wonderful.We loved the atmosphere and hope to be back again.

I haven't been here in a while but Pikaichi never disappoints. Their hours are a little wonky and they're close on random days throughout the week so definitely check before showing up. There's plenty of street parking infront. We got there on a Saturday night around 6pm and there was a 25 minute wait. I got the spicy miso ramen and it was so good. It was reasonably priced ($12) and a half egg was $.75. The soup was flavorful and warmed me up on such a cold fall day. The noodles were cooked perfectly, the right amount of chewiness. The restaurant wasn't super loud and there wasn't any music playing in the background. The food comes out really fast and service is great.

Our go to ramen joint, small inside but so friendly and fast service. Recommend for parties of 2-4. They also have to-go options.You truly cannot go wrong, we have been coming here for years since their previous location in the Super 88. I love their Japanese curry which is so delightful or their shoyu or spicy miso ramen. The noodles are always fond to perfection and the broth is delightful.They have teas and juices but no alcohol.

Food (1.5/2):Had the yuzu shio ramen with a side of curry rice. The curry rice was great with strong flavors. However, it lacks "meat"--it felt like just the sauce with onions. Additionally the serving seemed to be 90% rice and 10% curry.The ramen on the other hand was incredibly interesting--though not without its cons. The pork cuts were somewhat small and seemed slightly overcooked. The taste was simple and standard--not much else. They used wakame instead of nori, which in this case I think is a better match. The aji-tama was well-prepared though a touch on the "cooked" side. Surprisingly however, they seasoned them so well that I could taste the sauce even in the yolk. However, all these pales in comparison to the broth's complex flavors. On the first sip, I somehow tasted some smoked flavor--reminiscent of BBQ (the oil??) and this tasted great when I ate the ramen with the pork. As I drank and mix the soup more, the yuzu flavor surfaced and blended with the rest, providing an unexpected sensation of freshness near the end of devouring the bowl.Service/wait-time/cleanliness (2/2):Service was quick, courteous, and straight-to-the-point. The people there are very welcoming even when I came in ~30 minutes before closing. When they prepare to close, they also wait courteously and reminded us nicely of their closing hours. Tables and the environment were maintained very clean.Price (1/1):For the price, they are giving you a great deal. I'd definitely come here more often if I live nearby.

Delicious ramen. The vegetarian broth was so good!!! I strongly recommend trying this place out.

Excellent Ramen! The chef is excellent- from his days at Cafe Mami to Pikaichi in Allston to this location, his food has always been FAB!I would say that the portion size is good for a small meal but if you are HUNGRY HUNGRY, I would def order 2 Ramens and they're totally worth it..Very friendly staff and just good vibe overall.
