Lily Z. "This is only 4 stars if you never had real ramen. The toppings were ice cold, which made the broth lukewarm and impacted the flavor of the broth. The chicken was also bland and dry, like overcooked Hainan chicken. Egg was cooked to the right consistency with half runny yolk, but again, it was ice cold and took away from the flavor."

Takoyaki was very flavorful and there were small pieces of tako in each bite. The ramen had nice broth. But half way through I noticed it getting bit salty as the broth cooled down. The noodle was perfectly al dente. Topping was plenty for me but there were options to add more for extra cost. Enjoy! Highly recommend."

I had udon and the serving was huge and the broth was great and comforting especially for a cold winter night. The tempura was lightly battered and was perfectly fried which is another must. Service was slow. There was only one person taking care of everyone and the place was almost full. The restaurant looks like a typical small place. It's a must try."

He will take your order, complete with traditional Japanese expressions and acknowledgments. Your food is served on a cafeteria tray, but somehow still doesn't lack presentation. When you're done, you pay at the counter.Everything we had was delicious! When I asked how they got the crispy coating on the chicken, he bowed his head, gave me a dirt-off-the-shoulder sweep of the hand and said, "Family secret."I need to attempt their Yakitori chicken at home. Scott P. "Well this was a delightful surprise. We came here for two bowls of ramen and some takoyaki. Everything was actually really fantastic- the chashu in the ramen was *PERFECT*, it melted right in my mouth and was wonderfully fatty and porky. The mouthfeel of the noodles was spot-on, slightly chewy and springy. I asked if they had any shichimi togarishii, and they didn't, but the nice gentleman brought me a chili paste which more than made up for it. I don't know what it was, but it had just a perfect little burn and a really unique flavor that I've never encountered before. I asked him what it was and he said that it was just a ground chili that they make in the back. It was great, but I wish I knew what it was called so that I could ask for it next time. The decor is hip and funky, with a distinct pop vibe to it. They don't have a ton of seating, so it might get a little crowded at night, but it's definitely a cool little place to come hang out for some great ramen or curry and a drink.Come here. Tell your friends about it. We're finally starting to get some nice things here in the West Valley and we want to keep 'em, by golly!!!"

Bailey L. "I was very excited for the chance to check out the new Mesa Riverview addition, Mensho. Beyond loving ramen, and a good Michelin inspired experience, the hype around it definitely got me excited! I decided my husband's birthday was a great opportunity to check them out. First and foremost, as people have mentioned they do not have a reservation system You must stop by in person to put your name down and wait on site or return. They do utilize toast so you can see your spot and line and how many parties are ahead of you. They also partner with the next door boba shop for a discount if you want to enjoy before dining. The waiting area is small and tasty, so more of a last option really. I got there a bit after they opened on a Tuesday, not totally sure what to expect and was quoted 45min - 55 min. I asked if it was possible to dine at a certain time or what the procedure was. I was told no and since I was timing my husband's work schedule, as told to return to our my name down again. The hostess ended up helping to accommodate the time a bit to work for us, but it would be nice if there was a fine without having to hope for the best on wait time. The sauce itself was so beautiful, all the wood and authentic touches. Once we were seated our server came and took our order, it felt a tad rushed and the food all came out in various orders, so I would hold off on ordering everything at once, personally. We opted for some of their waygu sushi, the Japanese carpaccio, the corn ribs, the GTO ( Garlic Knock Out) Ramen and Duck Matcha Ramen. The waygu was delicious. You only get two slices, but was great starter. The carpaccio is sliced scallop and though very good and topped with various caviar and a delicious truffle sauce, I wouldn't order again. The corn ribs were good, but also not a stand out for me. I loved my GKO ramen, so flavorful from the broth to the toppings. I did add a smoked egg, which definitely was a must! My husband got the duck ramen and though more subtle and earthier flavor, was till good. We are glad we tried it, but wouldn't go out of our way to try it again. Some of the apps came before our ramen then our ramen hit in the middle of enjoying our starters, with our last app coming towards the end. Timing was definitely off and I would not order everything at once again. I was bummed they didn't do anything for my husband's birthday, which kind of bummers me out, but cest la vie. The whole experience was about 45 minutes once seated. Food was tasty and though not the cheapest meal, great quality wnd we would return!"

Nothing extraordinary but good. My Dad got the BBQ Pork Fried Rice, and he said the pork was pretty fatty. Stuart P. "First, consider this review is coming from a total GRINGO, but I have lived in Phoenix all my life and I learned long ago, if you want authentic Mexican food, you're going to have the best luck hitting places like this. What I mean by "places like this" is, a.) a Mexican owned business run by la familia; c.) the server doesn't speak English very well; c.) most or all of the signage is Spanish; and d.) you're the only white person there because the area and storefront scares the gringos that grew up with too much white privilege - That's right, I said it. Those are the people that just drive by and miss out on true cultural greatness. In my experience, the more of those boxes you can check, the better the food. This place seems more focused on sweets and treats, which I had none, so I can't review around that. I was here for ramen and birria tacos. First, the ramen was fantastic. You get a side of limes, onions, cilantro, salsa and cabbage. It's a serving big enough to share and I enjoyed it very much. Of course, I used it to dip my birria tacos! The birria tacos were good, not great. However, my personal preference are birria tacos oozing with queso, cooked longer with more browning and crispiness, and with the tortillas dipped in the birria consommé before griddling. You can see by my photos these aren't like that, but they are good, traditional birria tacos and I'm not going to deduct them because of a personal preference. And though it would be an easy target, I'm not going to deduct them for location, storefront architecture, interior design or handicapped accessibility. Frankly, more people need to recognize "places like this" wouldn't likely exist if they had to follow those standards. I come here for the authentic food and to support entrepreneurs brave enough to risk starting a minority owned business. Best of luck to you Neveria Y Taqueria!"

The owners are from Hunan Province (YASS!) and the dishes reflect the spicy nature of the region. From the Chongqing Spicy Chicken (重庆辣子鸡) to the spicy green beans (干煸四季豆)everything was heavenly. For starters, the steamed pork dumplings (always order steamed when you have the choice over fried) and the scallion pancakes were also legit. There is so much more on the menu that I have yet to try which means that I will be back! All of the other diners in the restaurant were Chinese, which says something about the authenticity of the menu (hey, I lived in China for a long time, too!). The owners were friendly and there is great energy in the restaurant. Don't be shy to ask for recommendations. They do sell bottled beers, including Tsingtao from China and Sapporo from Japan (didn't spy any baijiu though). In addition to the outstanding food, they have several KTV rooms. The rooms are available for rent by the hour. And yes, you can order their food while you sing your heart out. The song selections are available in both English and Chinese. The ramen came out in about 15 minutes. The broth, which makes or breaks a ramen, was fairly gentle and not particularly deep, but pleasant -- quite umami, moderately salty, slightly sweet.
