La Fonda Del Sol

La Fonda del Sol is one of our all time favorite Mexican spots! The food is phenomenal!!! I am partial to Menudo . They serve it everyday. From the salsas to the fresh warm chips to every menu item we and our guests have tried we have always been beyond satisfied. They have a fully stocked bar & wine selection too. Over priced!Just stopped in here for dinner - we live in the area and wanted to try it out for the first time. The server never mentioned to us nor does the menu state that you are charged additionally for sour cream, guacamole, rice, and beans AND a 4% service charge not including tax and gratuity..... INSANE! $4 for guacamole and $3 for sour cream plus the $16 chimichanga AND charge for rice on top of that?! It was flavorless and soggy.We got 2 tacos and chicken chimichanga and the bill was $48?! ..... the owners should step in before they're out of business here soon.

NOPE!!!!! Imagine making a plate of Mexican food and dumping cold water on it and calling it a dish. That's what this place is. BLAND, incredibly so. Lifeless. Tasteless. The walls in the booth were dirty. The menu had salsa on it. It felt like eating in a rest stop. The extra charges were insult to injury. Not only have I had better Mexican food at Taco Bell, but they charged us an extra "delivery fee" for dining in of 5% and charged us when we asked for green salsa (imagine that). Not only did they not have it, they brought us enchilada sauce that was inedible and charged us anyway. I felt sick to my stomach a day later and still feel it anytime I pass by.

I guess it was bound to happen. After the relocation things change. I miss the La Fonda staff that has taken care of us for so many years. The food seems the same to me even though the menu has been simplified. We had our regular items Ala carte. All good.

Went last night to what used to be our favorite Mexican restaurant but won't be back. 6pm on a Saturday night and there was one other table, obviously new owners and new menu aren't working. All the old employees are gone and the auto service charge is ridiculous. 2 entrees, 2 margs were $106 with tip. Move on to somewhere else the new Fonda Del SolWill not last long.

La Fonda Del Sol is the only truly authentic Mexican restaurant I've been to in Scottsdale. I've been to their old location prior, their new location is noticeably bigger. Good for them because it was poppin on Saturday night. I ordered the beef enchiladas- Christmas style - red and green sauce. It was incredibly delicious but I must admit, super heavy. The plate came out super hot, and everything on the plate seemed to melt together and the flavors exploded. Make sure you come to La Fonda Del Sol with an empty stomach.

We've been going to La Fonda Del Sol for years and since they left the Shea location it doesn't seem right. The new menu (sucks), the food quality is poor, and the place seems empty every time we are there. Also, the nice lady who worked seating patrons is no longer there. I guess we have to find someplace new. Any suggestions?

Salsa is great! Lots of great choices on the menu too nice clean restaurant & cute patio area.

I wouldn't even give this place one star. They used to be a great, family run business. It is under new ownership! We should have walked out when we smelled the sewage stink. Then we sit at our table and count 7 flies. We had to constantly swat away the flies. They changed the menu to limited choices with increased prices. It cost $22 for a bean tostada and bean burro! I needed a steak knife to cut through the bean burro. Overall worst experience ever.
