Hula's Modern Tiki - High Street

Consistency is something I really value, especially since I am older. I don't want to take a new friend to dinner and be surprised by the latest "trendy" alternative. Hula's (I have been to three in the Valley, so far) provides the same delicious food and beverages across the board. This is not an inexpensive restaurant, but it's still a fantastic value. By this I mean, lunch for two with two drinks (one each), entrees, and an appetizer was $79, pre-tip. It was worth every penny. Just good, fresh, flavIt's a great place to bring a new friend, especially if you can hit the $8 happy hour. Never too loud, although usually starts to get busy around 4:30 pm. Definitely a good place to spend time. I TRIED TO UPLOAD PHOTOS, BUT YELP DENIED ME THE ABILITY TO SELECT PHOTOS WHICH PLACED AN EMOJI OVER IDENTITIES OF OTHERS. This will be my LAST Yelp review.

Wanting to have a good time on a budget and want large positions???? Well Hula's got you! I went with a large group and was able to share the lobster bisque, spicy Thai fish cakes, and the beef sticks! And honestly this would have been enough as my whole meal! I had ordered the shrimp salad with the house miso vinaigrette and it was soooooo good! Our waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. She was always refilling our drinks and taking our plates away. She was so professional that I didn't even notice she was waiting on other tables as she timing was always perfect. This location has a beautiful patio that is super popular and we sat in a separate room ghat was across the bar. The tiki and other decor was very cute.I cannot wait to go back and try more amazing dishes!!!!

This place was really cool when walking into it. Had there been a beach nearby I'm sure I would have felt like I was on the islands!!! It was nice and quiet even with several groups of people there! I had the Mongolian beef bowl. The meat was perfectly cooked and the sauce was just the right amount to not take over the dish. The drinks were amazing!

Great cocktails!! Great service!! Our drinks were good, not too sweet which I appreciated! The fries were a great order to share and I loved the seaweed salad - it was really delicious! The bar area was large and could fit lots of different sized parties. Happy hour was super affordable, I will be back!

Great service even though it was HH, she did her best. Try the sliders and beef sticks. Each has a different type of sauce, the beef sticks being served with a curry sauce. Our daughter had the chicken teriyaki off the kids meal and had a nice portion which was tasty. We had Mai Thais and she had a NA Pina Colada which had cinnamon notes to it. Great place!

Great happy hour. Delicious drinks. Ask to be in Mckenna's station.. she is the best.

Hula's Modern Tiki - High StreetNot the first time at Hula's, went to the original location many times in Central Phoenix during work lunch, always busy and mostly had their burgers which are very good.Crispy Coconut Shrimp Rolls with Pineapple Horseradish dipping sauce lived up to its description, light crispy skin roll to dip into a wonderful sauce. Highly recommend this appetizer or a light meal in itself. Crispy Fish Balls white fish in panko and togarashi encrusted, served with an island romoulade to dip which is also a nice appetizer. Traditional Hawaiian Kalbi Ribs soy marinated short ribs with macaroni salad and rice, how basic and delicious just like I remember from the old beach food trucks on Sandy Beach excellent flavor and tender beef with a scoop of rice and my favorite macaroni salad. Winner traditional dish. Get it!Shrimp Tacos came with 2 tacos on corn tortilla and a mound of rice covered with black beans. Have to say it initially looked sparse, but the tacos are very filling and tasty.Lemongrass encrusted fish in a lime ginger cream sauce with rice and slaw. The crust is very dominate so much that it takes away from the Lemongrass fish, very different but not swing it is a negative, just different. Service was excellent, our waitress was on top of everything, one thing that stood out was when we asked for left over containers, she brought three and all were labeled with the current date which we generally do at home. Nice touch!Overall, nice restaurant centered inside around a huge bar with lots of outside seating. Solid food, good service and nice restaurant. Some good food here, enjoy! Shaka

The food was very good! We all tried something different and everyone was impressed! We had the crispy fish bites &shrimp rolls.. both were fantastic! The shrimp rolls were 2 egg rolls cut in half so I'd recommend ordering two servings! The atmosphere was relaxing. They offer a nice bar & patio area. The service was excellent!

Food was really good and we got the mystery drink for happy hour and the bartender did not disappoint

Follow up visit with 2 friends for a happy hour with all in town which is rare. Excellent service from start to finish. Food came out very quickly who everything was delicious - ceviche, potstickers and crispy fish bites. Very good drinks. Very reasonable happy hour prices. Lively vibe yet not intrusive. Temp was good even on another AZ day. Thank you for the great experience!
