"Last restaurant I tried in 2022, and I ended the year on a great culinary note! I don't eat Indian food super frequently, but I do really like it. I ordered on Grubhub and had my husband pick it up for me. He did have to wait a bit past the expected time, but not for a long time. I got spinach dal and 3 piece idly. I had never tried idly before but thought it was really good! I love any kind of lentil dish, and the spinach dal was amazing. Very spicy for me so I had to take breaks while eating it haha but it was so delicious. Really glad I got to try this place and their pricing is definitely affordable for the amount of food they give you! Would love to try something new next time!"

"My husband and I have been coming to Al Hamra for years. It's our favorite Indian restaurant in Phoenix. The food is consistently great. The naan always comes out piping hot. It's never very busy.....sometimes we are the only people there, but they appear to do more take out business than dine-in. It's a pleasant place to dine-in......nice tablecloths and cloth napkins. There are usually two servers working, and we always get great service. Al Hamra will continue to be our go to for Indian food!"

Mediterranean menus are daunting and I am the least educated on this flavor platform, but my gosh, if you love good food, beautiful flavors and healthy eating, put this place on your happy map!We are making more thoughtful choices in our food these days with our fitness, health and just wanting to feel good- the hummus alone, was a reason to keep coming back! "Amazing Indian food!! Recommended by a friend for their authentic and delicious mix pf Northern and Southern Indian cuisine. The owner was super friendly and funny, she was happy to give her personal recommendations.Pretty chill/casual family friendly restaurant. Not fancy but such a gem. We enjoyed their spring dosa, tandoori chicken, garlic naan, butter chicken, and one more item I don't remember the name of...but these fried circular snacks where you put sauce in the center lol. Everything was delicious and flavorful. Tandoori chicken was tender and well spiced. The spring dosa had a nice cabbage filling inside.A little slow to give us water but they were so kind and chill about us bringing in some extra drinks and desserts to eat there. "Hubs and I worked up an appetite after watching a movie nearby. We decided to check out Phoenicia Cafe. We were greeted and seated right away. The space itself is quite spacious and bright, with plenty of available seating.We ordered the following:Arabic coffee $4.99Shrimp ghallaba $18.99Gyros pita $10.99Baklava $2.99The coffee was fantastic. It was strong and unique. I really liked it. My entrée was the shrimp ghallaba which had shrimp, peppers, onions, tomatoes, carrots and rice and hummus. It was flavorful. The portion was quite generous, and I had to take some of it to-go. Hubs had the gyro and he said it was okay. Before leaving, I just had to try the baklava - we ordered it to-go and proceeded to eat it in the car on the way home. It was delicious! In fact, we wished we had ordered two!"

"Tasty Chicken SandwichThink I found a new favorite when it comes to chicken sandwiches/strips/fries. The food at Chickii is really tasty. Chickii is serving up excellent fried chicken sandwich/strips with an Asian flair, and these sandwiches/strips are large, really large and I really like that you can customize your level of heat.  I went with medium but on my next visit I might kick it up a level.On this visit we shared the chickii sandwich, tender meals, fries, drinks and the soft serve. Everything was fresh, perfectly seasoned, and served pipping hot . The chicken was so juicy, not over cooked like so many other places. The chicken is crispy on the outside and juicy in the middle and the fries were crispy served hot and the honey orange sauce was the perfect pairing.I can't wait to go back and try the wings. Delicious food, friendly staff, family owned. The owner even let us try a few of the sauces before ordering, hows that for customer service, we will definitely be back."

"We were hoping for some yummy Mediterranean food, but Kabab King was super disappointing. We ordered the Tandoori Chicken Kebab, Beef Koobideh, and the Greek Salad on DoorDash. While the food came quite quickly, it was ice cold. Everything was super, super dry. I currently have a sore throat and the Tandoori Chicken felt like swallowing knives, it was so dry! The Greek Salad wasn't awful-- hence the 2 star rating, but I would never return."

"New Mediterranean food truck in Phoenix, we were visiting from San Diego and heard about a new food truck opened, being middle eastern myself I wanted to give it a try and judge since we have a lot of middle eastern places here in San Diego, their menu is simple Chicken Shawarma, Burgers and falafel, what else would you want to get a real authentic feel of middle east? these guys are new yet fast and attentive, we ordered one of each sandwich + a burger to taste and it was all impressive, I have to highlight the Chicken, very tender and juicy, I loved their garlic cream! no too garlicy like others, you can feel the passion in each bite, their falafel recipe is bomb! I frequent Phoenix and this is one amazing spot after hours of drive, I think these guys will be a big hit."

From the outside I was skeptical, and once I walked in that skepticism increased as I saw a conveyor style oven.At 4.99 the lunch special of a 10inch 1 topping pizza, soda, and a bread stick is great deal, so I had to try it. Surprisingly the pizza was pretty good especially for a $5 pizza, It is on par or above a papa john's type of pizza. The service was great too.They did not have their full menu's in yet just a big lunch and dinner specials menu. In addition to pizza they also have a friend ensemble of zucchini onion rings and more.There is a big screen TV with cable and dance music playing on the radio. "Dave's Hot Chicken only 23 miles from my house (instead of 50, the one in Gilbert)? Hallelujah! I love Dave's Hot Chicken. I think about it often, I crave it, I can taste it in my mind, I can't get enough! They just opened this one about 2 months ago in Phoenix. I decided to drive down there today to get some lunch.I got there, parked, walked in, and nobody was in line. Score! I placed my order for my usual....A #2, Hot, with upgraded cheese fries. Had some water to drink. Paid my money, took a seat, and waited for my food to come out. While I was sitting there, droves of people decided to come have lunch. The line went to about 15 deep at one point. They got everyone through pretty quick. My food came out pretty quick, within 5 minutes or so! How was it?Combo #2- My favorite! 2 sliders, and fries (upgraded to cheese fries). I love their buns, I love their sauce, I love their slaw, I love their pickles, I love their chicken tenders, I love the combo of flavors, I love the cheese sauce on the crinkle cut fries. It's a gosh darn perfect meal. I noticed at this location, the "hot" was much hotter than other Dave's I have been to (not complaining). Had to blow my nose quite a few times....this chicken was spicy, and I loved it! The tenders themselves seemed just a tad smaller than normal (still plenty filling and hung off past the bun a bit), but I didn't mind since it tasted so damn delicious and pretty much fit the bun perfectly.Service was friendly, and fast. Bathroom was a little bit unkempt (out of paper towels and running low on TP), but I've seen worse. I informed a worker about it and hopefully they took care of it. Happy to have this here! This is really close to where I work (when we were in the office), too! Hooray for Dave's in Phoenix. Make one in Surprise, please, please, pretty please! Thank you, and see you again, soon!"

"Downtown Phoenix is not a monolith. It's not only Roosevelt Row, or the sports district, or the Capitol. There's a wide range of neighborhoods, each with their own distinct character. Today, looking for an early dinner spot, I came upon Baiz Market. A small Middle Eastern grocery store with a sit down restaurant inside called Al-Hana. There's actually three Baiz Markets here in town, but the original is tucked away just east of the Garfield neighborhood on the eastern fringe of Downtown. I've had some great Middle Eastern fare here in town from the likes of places such as Middle Eastern Bakery and Haji Baba. But Arizona Republic food columnist Dominic Armato has said Al-Hana is one of his top 100 go to spots in the valley. So on a Thursday afternoon, off I went.You'll find Al-Hana inside the original Baiz Market on the southeast corner of 20th Street and Fillmore. There are also Baiz Markets in west Phoenix and now in west Mesa, each with their own Al-Hana restaurants. But this one is the original. Adnan Baiz and his family run this local chain which is open to all, but catering particularly to the valley's growing Middle Eastern community. In the time I spent inside Baiz today, there was a kaleidoscope of customers coming in and out. From Downtown college kids, to Muslim families, to Latino workers stopping in for a meal, and even a few African American grandmothers just grabbing some grocery items. Clearly I'm not the only one in the area who knows about this place. But how good is the food at Al-Hana?Step up to the counter in back, gaze at the menu above (or at the display case below) and make your choices. I ordered an app and an entree for my first go around. First, a small cheese pie. A mix of feta and mozzarella cheeses on house made dough which is crimped to make sure none of that cheesy goodness escapes. Heated in the oven and served warm. For my entree, I went for a Chicken Shawarma entree. Basmati rice, veggies, pickles, garlic sauce, and a pair of large pita bread slices. Oh and of course the chicken, seasoned and sliced off the spinning grill right in front of you. Total cost for everything including tax? About $11.Food came out to me in a little less than 5 minutes. You can also get it to go if you want, but I dined in the small seating area next to the kitchen this go around. First, the cheese pie. And I now get why Yelpers and Armato hype this up. The dough is the best part. Crunchy on the outside, but soft, chewy, and hearty on the inside. And the cheese mix is perfect. And for just $1 its a perfect starter snack for pretty much any meal. How about the shawarma plate? The chicken was excellent. Seasoned perfectly with just a hint of char. The sides? Meh. The basmati rice was actually a big disappoint to be honest. Super dry and almost flavorless. The pita bread was fine, though I've had better on that front as well. All things considered though, a pretty decent meal (and portion) and a solid value for the price.Next time I'm here I'll probably opt for the kabobs, or perhaps grab a meat pie. Given the uniqueness of the groceries available here, the fully halal restaurant menu, and the mixed neighborhood it resides in, I can understand why Baiz endures in Downtown's ever changing landscape. We're much more spoiled for choice on Middle Eastern cuisine in the valley today than when Baiz originally opened in 2004. And there are many other Middle Eastern restaurants that can match or top Al-Hana's food at this point. But much the way Ranch Markets offer a unique way to shop for the valley's Latino communities, Baiz is giving the valley's Middle Eastern residents something with them in mind. If ever there was an establishment in the valley proving that Phoenix is becoming an international food destination, its Baiz."

"First time in at Gyro 101 in Phoenix, they have another location in Scottsdale. The Phoenix location has been open for at least two weeks. When you walk in you order your food based upon the menu and pictures on the wall. Prices are clearly posted and very reasonable. There was an assortment of fresh Baklava at the register so we added that to the order.There were three in our group and we ordered a couple of gyro wraps with an order of chicken tenders. Side orders included a Falafel plate, onion rings, Greek fries and bottled sodas.The food was very tasty and fresh. Great service, clean and good value. Happy we have a Mediterranean food option in this neighborhood. Put this one on your list."

The service was good and the food arrived fast. Once we finished our lunch, this place was getting pack with dine-in customers and takeout customers.All four curries that we got were so delicious and full of flavor. Chicken was juicy and tender. They made the simple dal lentil curry so specifically good. Karahi chicken curry was so memorable and I could not stop enjoying it. Paratha bread was my favorite. It is lightly fried but still soft and not too oily.I want to visit their chai corner next door for some chai or lassi."

"Such a delicious eatery near the ASU campus! Prior to this, I hadn't had Mediterranean food in months because I had my fill in Greece a few months prior. This was an excellent meal to welcome Mediterranean food back into my cycle of cravings!I ordered the chicken kabob pita wrap, and the person I was with ordered the ghallaba. Both were SO flavorful! I loved the tasty garlic and tahini sauces that came with the chicken. The chicken was a little on the drier side, but the sauces made up for it. Everything was priced reasonably and portion sizes were just enough to be full for lunch. I'm already planning out the next time I come here!"

"this is one of those International spots that you're not sure what to expect. We almost went to a different restaurant because we could not find the location and it's located back in the corner by a Indian market as you walk in it is very unassuming and similar to eating in a foreign country. There is not much decor, and I woukd not classify the dining area as elegant. I was here with five others and I was a bit apprehensive.The prices are fair and the menu items had standard Mediterranean cuisine with a few varieties. We ordered at the counter and then sat down. And then I tried the food. If you ever remember the raging Cajun chef from Louisiana named Emeril Lagasse, BAM!!!!!!!! The flavors and cooking style was incredible. Even the simple french fries were crisp and flavorful. The green sauce was phenomenal, and the rice was fragrant and flavorful. This food is cooked with love. This is a Mother's cooking from Ethiopia/Somalia and you can taste the difference. Imagine going over to your friends house to enjoy a home cooked meal. That is the inexplainable way the food tastes. I apologize because usually I take lots of pictures of the food but when I went to try a french fry and the next thing I know they were all gone. My Shawarma sandwich had soft and tender chicken meat and was flavored well, and that also disappeared and was gone. The other dishes disappeared faster than a new iPhone 14 left on the street on ASU campus. I can gladly say I did not eat the soda pop can so I have a picture of it and if you've never tried it, it tastes similar to red cream soda.I will be back, I'll bring reinforcements, and I'll take more pictures!"
