Famous Ray's Pizza

In town because mom was in the hospital and I was starved and looking for some comfort food. Found "FAMOUS RAYS PIZZA" on Yelp, the Greek Pizza looked interesting. Definitely spent more than I normally would have to have it delivered along with an antipasto salad. The salad was extremely disappointing, a pile of iceberg lettuce with a pinch of chopped olive in one corner of the styrofoam container, a pinch of green olive in another corner, a pinch of diced peperoncini in another corner and a couple thin slices of tomato. Not my idea of an antipasto salad, mostly lettuce. However, the Greek pizza was phenomenal, so good!!If I lived in Phoenix, or even in AZ I would definitely eat that again. Now I'm trying to find a place near me where I could try to get something at least similar...I will definitely be back for the Greek pizza! But I'll pick it up and save the fleecing the delivery cost me.

There is no other place in Phoenix to buy pizza since Casanova Brothers Pizza closed in Mesa. Casanova was always a second choice to Ray's for me. GREAT NEW YORK STYLE PIZZA, in a New York environment. Being a NYer I am totally at home here and I try to bring my out of town guests here. The pizza is traditional NY style with a great taste. If you like Pepsi, their mixture of syrup and carbonated water is perfect.

Great atmosphere and friendly staff. They work really hard back there and have been open for a long time. The pizza is one of my favorite slices in the area. However, it can be a hit or miss when it comes to crisp (sometimes it can be soggy, lately it has been for me). I wouldn't hesitate to ask for it on the crispy side! Great spot overall.

I ordered three x-large New York-style pizzas "to go". One was pepperoni; one was pepperoni and sausage, and the last was the "monster". It was easily enough to feed six adults and two small children.The crust was good, and had a good "chew" with enough crispiness and slightly sweet flavor. The sauce was delicious, not sweet, and had a very nice tang to it. It had plenty of cheese, but not too much. The pepperoni was good as well... the sausage even better! The monster had a lot of toppings, but still seemed to be well-matched, as it tasted really good together. Service was friendly and efficient. Pricing was on the high side, but everyone got what they wanted and there were left-overs for breakfast. All in all, I am pleased and will be back again.

I eat at Ray's at least once a week. Their pizza is so like New York Pizza. Their lasagna is delicious and their anti-pasta salad is fantastic. I've been heating there for years never disappointed.

Had the vegetarian Sicilian pizza and it was excellent. The garlic knots had an odd flavor that threw us off but others might like it. The bread was fresh so it's probably just a personal taste.8

Burnt. Crust... uneatable. Spent all that money for what. Won't be ordering from here again. Why didn't someone remake this?

Rays IS NY Style pizza! The first thing you will notice is when you're carrying out your pizza is how heavy it is! It's loaded with dough, cheese and toppings. Now it's not the cheapest pizza you can get, but it's well worth the money! About 25 bucks with tax for a 14" two topping pizza. Great dough and tons of toppings!

the ONLY pizza I've found in 28 years that brings me right back to the East coast. New haven style for sure. They also don't look at you weird if you order a white clam pie or a broccoli calzone. :)A+++
